  • In this video I collect Newman chert, aka Carter Cave chert, for flintknapping arrowheads, spearheads, and other stone tools. This high grade material originates from Newman Limestone Formation in Eastern Kentucky and was used for thousands of years by indigenous peoples to make stone tools. Join me on a short adventure in a creek while I collect this rock!

Enjoyed the video. It's always a good day when you can tromp around in the woods.

Awesome! For me, the rockhounding, exploring, and walking around a new place, is half the fun of flint knapping for me. Beautiful place!

That's some pretty material. Sourcing tour own stone is an adventure in itself. Hope to see some cool points from what you collected.

Beautiful Material Buddy, I’ve been subbed to you for a bit, haven’t watched all your content yet, I was wondering if you look for and collect arrowheads as well? Because that stream looks like it could be holding some jewels waiting to be found, I’ve been collecting arrowheads for 27 years, that’s mostly what my channel is, is treasure hunting but I’ve been wanting to knapp for years but haven’t attempted it yet, I collected some flint/chert material last summer, I was Gonna wait until I got a bopper but I think I’m just gonna try knapping with an antler, anyway you make some absolutely beautiful works of art and I look forward to seeing what you create with that material, Thanks For Sharing, God Bless & GL&HH 🏹

Looks like a good day. Do you hunt on private land or are some public lands accessible? I am from WV. I find tons of Kanawha Black and quite a bit of Hughes River AKA Brush Creek AKA Crooksville on public lands and streams. Not looking to hoard chert just enjoy looking. Thank you for your videos.
