the best puzzle box I have ever seen in my whole life I mean I want to build the box it is super cool
Super useful. You deserve all the subs possible! Great design and I'm looking forward to trying this myself!
Rainbow Road is another GREAT puzzle box!
Just finished the build and WOW. Took me a bit to figure out the last step to get the lid off. Very clever design!
Awesome! So glad you enjoyed the puzzle!
Its thanks to Chris Ramsay that I’m here. I love Lego, and I love puzzles. So this is right up my street.
Welcome to cheat3! :)
cheat3 thanks for the welcome. I look forward to seeing more like this.
Amazing design!
would've never thought of it
You'd be surprised what you can come up with once you start putting bricks together ;)
Had no idea about the rebrickable or bricklink communities. Bought the pieces, had a ton of fun making this box. New hobby initiated. Just bought the pieces for the Ben Franklin's Locker. Thank you for the videos and taking the time to put the list piece together.
Very cool! Pumped cheat3 has inspired a new hobby for you! You'll be designing your own in no time. :) I think you'll enjoy Ben's locker - very different puzzle but just as satisfying.
At 43:27, you can see the whole puzzle, and I noticed an empty section in the top right of the box near your thumb, so I created an extra piece that requires yet another move to solve it. This puzzle is really genius and I'm grateful you guys decided to share it!
Oh cool idea! What were you able to add their?
Oh nice. ditto gabe.
Gabe Hosticka I added a piece that fit into the lock (also modified) and had an technic axle piece on it so it aligned with the axle and could be pulled out when the button was pushed, but to be solved, it required you to hold the piece out while you pushed the axle back in.
@@DavidFan793 Nice! After you mentioned that empty section in the puzzle I ended up taking my puzzle apart and integrating 2 more locks into the puzzle! This is only my second ever Lego puzzle so it was really fun trying to integrate my own ideas into this one. I would love to share the additions I made so that other people could maybe try them out as well, but I'm not sure how I would go about doing that. Any suggestions?
@@flowinwind4413 I know that was three years ago but my idea is you post it on your channel
This is amazing man. Not really easy to find these pieces in my country (or economically speaking at least) but man I really want to build this. Keep the good work.
Awesome video of an awesome puzzle Box, nice job man!!
Thanks so much!
I make LEGO Puzzles as well and it is good to see someone else making some for inspiration; I have currently only made two and I was not satisfied with the first so rebuilt it and made it MUCH better. I am definitely going to be attempting to make this puzzle and cannot wait to get to building a third puzzle! Keep making amazing creations such as this!
Nice keep at it and be sure to share with cheat3 if you ever post one on YT
This is my most favourite one out of all the puzzle boxes, it is soooooooo awsome
I think it’s our best puzzle. It’s a little less sturdy than Bens Locker. It’s really hard. When you finally open it, figuring out how it works is the next puzzle.
Best puzzle ever
Thanks much!
also this is really cool, good job. i used to try to make Lego puzzles / safes all the time as a kid
Lego is a great way to invent
Thank you cheat3! Everyone in my family loves this puzzle! If you are interested I added a couple of steps to make this puzzle substantially harder.
Awesome! What steps did you add?
@@cheat3puzzles Basically I added a lock to the slider that pushes out the turning technic piece. I also switch the "duck" piece around so that the lock doesn't sink down at all until the end.
Super easy to follow tutorial thanks man
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
I also came over from Chris Ramsay's channel, these are great ideas and very ingenious! I will be waiting on that bricklink list so I can go and make this too!
I've put up Ben's Locker in bricklink.. but they have to approve before the list is available. Other boxes coming soon.

@@cheat3puzzles Awesome work, looking forward to what else you guys come up with!
Subbed!! Have been looking for a channel like this for years
That's awesome! Glad you found us!
Thank you for the part list update. I had just finished my spreed-sheet and was looking for some of the harder to find pieces on bricklink. This looks so fun to solve and build. Much respect...
Nice!
Thanks so much!
Finished the build and I love the solution/methods of this puzzle! There aren't as many steps as Ben Franklin's Locker but I think it's more elegant. By the way, I made one minor adjustment that you may like. I didn't like how the button moved up and down by one plate height at the beginning state so I modified the "duck" key to eliminate the play. I removed the 2x2 corner plate at the bottom and replaced it with a 1x1 plate for where the round plate attaches and then built up the height of the 1x2 plate jumper by adding a 1x2 plate underneath. Now there's no play at all with the button at the beginning state of the puzzle. Time will tell if that mod will hold up though.
Nice! We had a couple of versions including something similar to what you describe. Ultimately we released the one with play so that a) people would get really distracted early by the last step and b) it would give away that that it has a sliding lid so people wouldn’t break it. But your change is certainly better disguised.
cheat3 Ah I see now why you did that. Makes perfect sense! Depending on how many of my friends end up trying to break it (once C-19 lockdown comes to an end), I may have to revert back to your build. Thanks again for posting these!!!
Wow, I’ve built this thing today and still have no clue how to solve. Great work man👍
This one is very difficult, but it's slightly less reliable than the Ben's Locker that Chris solved. This one is sequential... but there is a lot of free movement allowed that makes it difficult to discern the proper sequence. It's probably my favorite and we already have a few nice mods for it that will eventually release.
cheat3 nice, I’ll be sure to tune in for those. Just solved it and turned out it was just the axle bit I hadn’t figured out. Super satisfying build and solution
Samus 2003 how
Do
You
Do
It
?
DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO BE SPOILED. So of course take the tool out the cabinet then push the button (inside the cabinet) to reveal axle for tool. Turn axle so the bricks on the side slide out one space and separate the two bricks. You can then turn the axle all the way back to push out a brick on the other side. Then turn the axle back again and rejoin the two pieces and pull them all the way out. Now push the other button to reveal axle with stopper on other side and push it back in. Then you can remove the lid.
Steven Wawryk hope that helped
I just got this puzzle and I love it!
Awesome! and thanks so much!
I love your channel so much
We built it - super ingenious!
Thanks. This one is the hardest so far. People who aren't THAT into puzzles might go full caveman with it.

Just ordered my parts for this build. The updated parts list makes it much easier to order and be confident that you have all the required pieces. This one and the Ben Franklin"s Locker came out to about $31 Each. Thx again and keep on puzzling.
Let us know your favorite!
@@cheat3puzzles Firstly, thank you for making this content available to the public. Too hard to pick a favorite! IMO, they are fantastic to build and solve and they both have elements that are awesome. I actually find Rainbow Road a little harder to solve, but the mechanisms in Ben Franklin's Locker are easier to dial-in. They also are both great aesthetically. Please keep the hard puzzles coming...
Thank you
Loving the puzzle tutorials, built this one today!
I think I have it mostly mostly solved too, emphasis on mostly, as I can't seem to figure out a consistent strategy to move the duck as part of the final step. It's worked a couple times if I get just the luckiest bit of grip to the axel, although I'm not sure how else to do it. Is there a specific orientation, or a pressure strategy that you had in mind? Or does my axel brick just not have enough grip?
EDIT: I modified it so that the duck doesn't rely on the axel anymore to move, it just sort of sits there waiting to be shifted when the space is open. It takes out some of the coolness with the two clear bricks that reveal the axel no longer existing either, but it's still pretty difficult since the solver only has an auditory clue to go off of. Still curious as to what you had in mind with that final move, the puzzle's mechanics are pretty ingenious :)
So happy that you built RR!! Assuming all parts are oriented correctly (and fully! in position) in order to solve, your axle brick might have been slipping in the original build. I think there's an older version of axle bricks that have little grippers that increase resistance. Also note that when you push the axle in faster that seems to reduce the amount of slip. You may also try 2 axle bricks instead of one hole brick and one axle brick. :)
The one piece I’m missing is the gear plate lol! RIP, great video and build!!
Oh that is sad but u can substitute it bye a wheel piece I already built it and I used a gear ⚙️ plate but u can substitute it by a wheel with a tire

I totally frankenbricked a 1x2 tile by cutting it in half and gluing it onto the side of the Duckhead that holds up the lock. This makes the lock sit level with the top of the box. I know its sacrilege to cut and glue but it does look a bit nicer and doesnt give away any clues
cheat3 is all about cutting, gluing, removing tubes, etc! Frankenstein those bricks! :)
I have over 10k pieces, not a single rail groove block, too many gears but no rack T.T
A set of these puzzles totally deserve its place in Lego Creators..
dang. I there's soo much junk in our big box of lego pieces that will never be in a puzzle box. We spent a lot of time pulling out the most used pieces. Some of the best pieces for puzzles are not so common.
@@cheat3puzzles I checked on bricklink and I think the old legos were more technic will less tiles, so it is easier for ppl who have recent unused pieces. Conclusion is: rare pieces on bricklink + some kilos of disney bricks on ebay to get the fun colors of tiles, plates and bricks :)
Thanks for this wonderful idea of making puzzleboxes with Lego.
I made the plus part by gluing a 3x1 and two 1x1s together and it works fine
Brilliant. Don't let those weird pieces slo u down!
Adapt. Improve. Overcome.
Could you put the colors of the bricks in the list of descriptions please? i'm sourcing these and not sure what colors i should be getting. Thanks!
Ok. Finally up there. Sorry for the delay.
I just built and (finally) solved this puzzle. It’s incredible. My one question is: does the 2x4 slider that slides right next to the gear have any purpose? Or is it just a red herring
Awesome! So glad you enjoyed the puzzle. The slider pushes out the axle rod so the tool can be placed on it to turn the gear. Did you start with the axle already extended or pushed in?
cheat3 thank you so much. I started with it in the wrong position. Absolutely love the puzzle.
We need the technical 1by 4 sliding pieces for building the top.
Thanks
Sorry to ask you additional work, but could it be possible to have color breakdown of the parts list (or just what should be white and we will choose colored parts), even better, a shopping list on lego/bricklink ? Thank you for sharing this and awesome work !! A new fan from France.
soyez les biens venues. Working on a bricklink list. Sorry for the delay.
@@cheat3puzzles Thanks a lot !
Is it at all possible to grab a parts list. Would love to have this for our summer drives
Yes! I will be posting the parts list for Rainbow Road later today. I thought it was up but I only posted the "weird" pieces. :)
I’m gonna make this for my brother for Christmas
That's awesome, lucky brother!! Just a note: the white rail groove bricks are difficult to find so you may want to switch up the colors a bit. :)
@@cheat3puzzles thanks for the tip, I’ll do a black and white design
Idk how you haven't sold these ideas to lego
Thx! You wouldn't believe how many great lego creations don't get picked up. It's hard.
Do you have any spare 1 x 4 w/ rail groove pieces? I know I'm a little late, but I don't have any of them.
what piece kits do you use, not just for this video but in general?
Ok... so here's a really lame video I made that walks you through the pieces you'll need (in general) to design a puzzle box. It doesn't cover specific boxes though. If you can tolerate a 15 min monologue about individual bricks... then this one's for you. :)
czcams.com/video/-KUYRzYWT2Q/video.html
HiCheat3! I'm almost finished gathering all the pieces but a couple of things have me a little "puzzled" about the parts list. You list 8 for the Plate 1 x 3 White but I see 14 being used in the video. Will the new color modification change the number of these 1 x 3 white plates being used? Also, is the new color mod where the Plate 1 x 3 light orange is used? Thanks!
Edit: Sorry, I’m a doofus. I finally got my order from a BrickLink shop and built this puzzle and realized that I was double counting pieces. Instead of counting what you actually used, I was counting all the pieces that were laid out including where you laid out all the wall pieces at once then proceeded to build it in segments.
please add a part link to your video that we can just go and buy these parts, having a hard time finding some of these bricks
Done! Check the description now.
@@cheat3puzzles youre a legend!!!
do you sell these as I want to buy a few but not spoil the solution by building it myself
Are there any substitutes for the 1x4 gear rack
Is there a buildable alternative to the "Brick Modified 1 x 4 with Groove"? I don't have any way to buy them right now...
Hi! :) I think there is not because if you replaced them with 1×4 bricks you could just lift it....Maybe try finding another way for the sliding mechanism?
I would probably have made all the keys and interior blocks first and installed them as I made the base. That way I don't need to take walls on and off.

Love your videos, whist you had a better microphone
Excellent puzzle, really good work, I'll try the Ben Franklin ASAP !
I build two rainbow with the last design, my only regret : during the bulding there's spoil ...

We are now offering puzzles with the option for pre-assembly for this very reason. :)
In the description you have it noted that you will need a 12 Tooth Double Bevel Pinion Gear (32270) but I never saw that used in the video. Was the final design changed and the piece was no longer needed or what happened?

What is to prevent someone from pushing down the release button on the top of the puzzle?
The rest of the puzzle steps ;) It drops 1 freely but not the required 2.
I modified the one I made to eliminate the 1 plate drop so that it only moves when all the steps have been completed
@@charles2357 That's awesome! Love that you're making it your own! We toyed with this aspect of the design and ultimately decided we liked the fidget aspect of it and that it was a clue to the final reveal. :)

Sure. I’ll get the exact pieces on BrickLink soon. But picking your own colors is fun too.
19:21 this is the time I’m at
I want to build this one so badly but I already used most of the needed pieces for other puzzles:( please make These into Lego sets so we dont need to search that long and be sad when we dont have pieces!😅

@@cheat3puzzles Looks like a few items are incorrect on the bom. Had quite a few colored 1x2 plates left over as well as a few 1x1 one plates, a gray corner, a 1x8 yellow plate and 2 white 1x1 tiles. Maddy Spencer we’re thinking about selling a small number. But we’re not set up for that now. Just trying to keep putting out vids for the moment.
Is there a possibility you could substitute the lego rail groove brickwith something else
It will be tricky. You could try using part 33909 instead of the rail but would have to modify the lid quite a bit.
cheat3 well i just ordered the rail from brick link any way but thanks
I need some
Hello ! Great work ! I think there's a little mistake : Door 1 x 3 x 2 Right - White:1
That's 2 doors ?
The one we sent Chris had 2 doors stacked (1 length high, 3 lengths wide for a total of 2 lengths high, 3 wide) but doors also come in 2 lengths high 3 lengths wide which is ultimately what is needed. Both work, it's just a matter of what people have on hand.

Can you replace the rail peive with anything?
You could probably achieve a similar mechanism by sandwiching the lid on both sides with a combination of plates and tiles, but it would require a major re-design.
Is there a substitute for the brown cross?
someone else had success gluing a 2x2 corner plate with 2 1x1 plates.

can i make it using just one rail brick??????
I think it's possible with 2 instead of 4 (with some lid modifications) but I'm not sure about 1. It's worth a try though!
yes with twoooooooo
sry
I think there is 4 units of the 1x3 Brick and 4 units of 1x1 Brick.
Very sorry. This is what I’m trying to sort out with the parts. I made the models and parts list after I completed the boxes. Occasionally I saw that there were better choices (like a 1x4 instead of two 1x2s) and I made those changes to the model. That’s where I got the parts lists. But the builds use the older brick choices.
@@cheat3puzzles That makes sense :) thanks for the response and great work! Can't wait to try it.
I wish you would show the puzzle and show the solve before you show the build though. I mean, it looks great, but I'm never gonna build it, I would just like to see it in action and what it does.
We've mostly been doing it the other way for the hard puzzles. We want people who build them to have a chance to find the solve. But everything will eventually have a solution posted.
Would you ever make this puzzle and sell it to someone?
We’re thinking about selling a small number of these assembled. Just don’t want to get into the brick business.
I cant get it open for the life of me... Any clues?
Hmm. There’s some decoupling and recoupling that’s needed. Everything has to be in the right position for the final move to activate the release. This one is very hard since it doesn’t give as much visual feedback.
