    I've honestly never heard or seen that lure, definitely different. And Sam Rayburn looks like such an awesome area to fish! I absolutely love that kind of cover but its few and far between up in minnesota

    Good stuff man! Don’t tell anyone, but a Poppin’ Perch will catch open water smallies too 🤫

    I guess you'd be ok on Slippery Anne. You can hold on to the pole. Pryor Creek at the Yellowstone with your skills would be something to witness.

    Awesome video Andrew!!!! What type of knot do you tie for this bait or any frog type lure? I remember watching another top water video you did and remember you tying a loop knot (not sure exactly the name of the knot) but I’ve been tying a Palomar knot and can’t seem to get the poppin perch to walk. It just always goes to the same direction when I try to walk it.

    • @AndrewUpshawFishing
      @AndrewUpshawFishing  Před 4 lety

      I use a palomer knot. You have to walk it on a little bit more slack than usual.

    If only we could get the tails to last longer. I’ve had days on Rayburn where I’ve went through 2-3 popping perches due to tails getting torn off. Was on a great bite back in April for a couple weeks

    Thx for a fishing how to video Andrew. I always enjoy your videos. If u have a chance, me as a viewer would be curious how much that 1st big bass weighed so I can kind of learn by looking at it. I havnt caught anything that big. You will laugh, but when i caught my biggest largemouth it was 3.7 lbs and i thought it was 5 lb. Hahaha. What a rookie. I need more experience.

    • @AndrewUpshawFishing
      @AndrewUpshawFishing  Před 4 lety +1

      That one weighed just under 6lbs

    Hey Andrew.....Not sure if you will see these questions / respond since video is two weeks old.......trying to "wrap my head around" using a frog rod that has a mod fast action, since conventional wisdom is typically an extra fast tip .....do you have to delay the hook set ? ( waiting for the rod to load seems like it might take longer since the rod is slower ), and does the rod work well / have enough tip for skipping under docks and such ? ( houseboats )

    • @AndrewUpshawFishing
      @AndrewUpshawFishing  Před 4 lety

      The Jig/Worm Ledge Rod is far and beyond my favorite. It is a fast action. It has the perfect amount of tip to skip and plenty of backbone for hook sets.

    • @jeffmiller3765
      @jeffmiller3765 Před 4 lety

      @@AndrewUpshawFishing Thanks for the reply... Lew's website and Tackle Warehouse both have have it as Mod Fast but judging from videos it looks more like fast by how quick it shuts off. Keep up the good work, and thanks for sharing your knowledge and passion.
