The cylinder version is simple, imagine how much wrapping the sides of the board around would change the game (e.g. Knight could jump directly from one rim to the other).
Then imagine arbitrary fixed mappings between squares on the edge.... (you could even then use particular moves to swap Bishop colour).
Then imagine the portal(s) between the edge squares are movable each turn... could be wild.
I assumed you also played Asteroids on a ZX spectrum or similar so get the idea 😉

Since you mention the football a few thoughts for you.
Football is not coming home. 60 years of pain. The Spanish won it by a knee. Who needs anal beeds when you have VAR. The ten Germa bombers will be over London in 4 years time. Remember its not a matter of life and death - its more important than that. Finally one profound insight from a pundit - the ball is round.
We are probably better off sticking with the chess.
Mind you while they are debating the role of heading the ball in football and head injuries, given the amount of head pain chess has given me im sure someone should do a study on chess players and traumatic brain injuries 😂
Hard to argue with that! Especially the ball shape, profound insight :D and yes I agree with the chess thing though I also play rugby, chess and rugby always been my two biggest and best things! And I know footballs used to eb really hard back in the day and cause brain problems but I thought they sorted all that with lighter balls etc but idk. I guess never good if constantly heading balls day in day out :/
@@epicchess2021 the ball weight is now much lighter. They are trying to ban headers in younger players. Hard to know what will happen. There is probanly something in this. However no one seems to habe done comparisons between say goal keepers who rarely head a,ball and other positions.
It is well established in boxing and American football. There is some debate in rigny also.
The ball is round. Translated - amy thing can happen because the ball can go anywhere. Bit like chess really. But it sounds a lot more gnomic and profund when one quotes the original.
Fabi being the consumate pro he is, looking as disappointed as possible that he won a pro chess game. Classic.
