What is a dopamine fast? Recently I've been embracing the power a dopamine detox to help protect my mental health. Dopamine fast has also helped me cultivate more curiosity.
In this video, I showcase some of the tools I've started using for my daily dopamine fasts. Yup you heard that right, I've batched times throughout the day to be 100 percent away from all technology.
When I first started asking the question, 'What is a Dopamine fast?' I quickly realized people would go 24 hours without any tech. I do see a lot of value of going a whole day without any technology. But with my current circumstance, it's not possible. So the next best option was to apply the principles of a dopamine detox into parts of my day.
In this video, I go into detail of the following:
1. Why dopamine detox is done wrong by many people.
2. The person who coined the word Dopamine detox
3. The myths of a dopamine detox
4. The tools I use to incorporate dopamine detox into my everyday life.
Enjoy :)

Love this concept of batching the dopamine fast! Curing a mental bloat is not unlike curing a physical one - the sustainable answer isn't to just not consume, you have to consume the right things, and let the "bad" in (if you enjoy it!) in moderation.
I personally batch this time for the weekends. I do my reading and active rest then. Clears my mental plate between videos and helps reorient myself to make sure I'm heading in the right direction!
Yeah weekends are probably the best times to do a batching fast! Let’s see if I slowly go towards that direction in a month or so :)
Thanks for watching :)
Great video mate. I actually watched it the other day and then did some of my own research off the back of it and I'm going to give it all a go. Good shit!
Yo! It's a very interesting concept. I would also suggest reading Digital Minimalism, it's super informative.
Hope you're well my dude!
animations on point.
'single purpose computers' and 'high leisure activity' are what got me the most on this one.
and the idea of working towards news that's written for purpose and not written for clicks is a good one. obviously not to knock people that are writing daily or hot topic news for a living.
hey, thanks for watching! The biggest thing I've learned about media is that everything is driven on clicks and money. So you need to just be self aware when you consume those headlines
Saw your oat milk video and was lead to the rest of your channel. Great stuff! I subscribed and I'm hoping you put out more great videos in the future. Excited to get into this treasure trove of content you have!
Harshil your animations are getting so good! Not to mention the different angles and soft lighting, everything is looking super clean. I really enjoyed the video man keep going!
Hey Rahil! Thank you so much! Looking forward to both of us to blow up soon ;)
hey I remember seeing you on STEEM! I used to support you over there big time. Just a heads up, we all left STEEM and use HIVE Network now. Its 100x better and it has no central company behind it. The users of steem forked away and started their own network. Eventually STEEM will die off. Justin Sun and his goons have driven it to the dirt. If I see you on HIVE I would gladly support your work!
Ive definitely seen social media and how over exposure has effected me. Im going try that freedom app and try ur method of keeping a scheduled time for mindless internet
Yes try it! Trust me, it's a pretty solid investment.
*Awesome stuff brother. I think when u schedule ur day and prioritize on things then this will be useful. Thank u for sharing this with us* 🙏
Hey man! Thanks for watching :) Glad you found this insightful!
Great unique content !!
Would love to see more of such content 💯
Thank you so much :) More to come!
I’ve been looking to develop healthier habits and this video came at the right time. Thank you for sharing!
Yes! Love how the universe works :)
Awesome video man,
I've been doing this as well, I do it a bit differently, I find when I'm working I keep going on my phone for prolonged times, so I've started doing is switching off my phone and leaving it behind me, it's scary to think that my hand automatically goes to my phone to see the notifications, like it's muscle memory, but I'd love to eventually get one of those back in day phones like a Nokia 3310 or something :), since doing this I started to read more, and I actually enjoyed it. I hope your detoxing is going well
I know! I've started leaving my phone behind too. It's insane how often I put my hand into my pocket to take my phone out.
I want to go back to a flip phone too lol
I love print too. I've been wanting to do that with the newspaper, maybe this is the motivation I need to actually start getting a subscription
do it!! there's something about print that's really special
Curiosity Culture. Youre very focused and always working on yourself. Very admirable. Yeah, I remember getting my news from the newspaper. Actually I liked it. Youre also so right about the time spent on the internet, phone, etc. Can become addictive. I should take your suggestion, really. I can start out small and build up I think. Thanks.👍
Why thank you! We're all a work in progress right? :)
and yes, do it. I'm not perfect by no means, I still have a problem with my phone :)
This is cool!
Glad you liked it!
you’re so right, we need to get better at being focused especially during these crazy time, awesome video!
100 percent! Covid inspired this so I guess something good came out of this :)
Great videos, hope he starts reposting as it’s been a while.
The last line was really powerful. Also just found out you're Gujarati!
100 percent! And yes I am :) Patel swag :)
Lol, i think thats why I subscribed. Must be the non-biased swag. ;)
This is a pretty cool concept! Getting off of technology is a pretty bad problem for me. 😅
Yeah same. Soooo relatable! Try it out :)
Have you checked out Andrew Kirby's Dopamine Detox series? I think it would really help!
I have! I'll watch his whole series now :)
