      @@digital_aloha Genuinely, thanks. And thx for the response. I have had my DS415+ for 6 years, and it has never been what I hoped. I'm still trying to get it to stay connected to my Mac, but it disconnects ALL the time. Searching for guides on how to get the most out of it and this helps. Will have to investigate your other vids. keep up the great work.

    Thanks for this video. It looks like things have changed again with 7.2. Docker is now called Container Manager. I am not sure if there are other subtle differences in the rest of the setup process.

    • @digital_aloha
      @digital_aloha  Před rokem +2

      There are slight differences in the new Container Manager in DSM 7.2 but nothing to drastic. When creating the Container, from the Image window within Container Manager, the option to select is Run (not Launch). The rest of the setup is basically the same except in the order that window appears and, in Container Manager, some of the windows are combined. Hope this helps? I'll likely release a video in the future that goes over Container Manager more thoroughly as well. Good luck in your setup!!

      @@digital_aloha Struggling to get OpenSpeedTest to work on DSM 7.2.1-69057 (using Container Manager). I realize that Docker may return with DSM 7.2.2. Who knows how different that will be from your previous videos! If you have the time would appreciate a video with the current "Container Manager only" DSM.

    services:
    speedtest:
    restart: unless-stopped
    container_name: openspeedtest
    ports:
    - '3000:3000'

    • @digital_aloha
      @digital_aloha  Před rokem

      @jachencarl You're welcome. Glad you found the video helpful!! Regarding the WiFi speeds that I was getting in the video, I believe I was connected to a Synology RT2600ac router at the time on the 5GHz frequency and the router was pretty close to where I was. Here is the specs for the router -> www.synology.com/en-global/products/RT2600ac#specs. Seems on 5Ghz you could get speeds up to 1.75Gbps.

      @@digital_aloha yeah but you'll be limited by the 1G port on the RT2600...via 2.5G direct connect to 10G Synology I've got 1500mbps both ways with the RT6600...but not with a switch...still looking into it...using iperf3 so far...have been meaning to set openspeedtest up, thanks for this tut, had it working in a few mins...seem to be getting similar results so far, nice to have both though.

    This was great, thank you. I noticed my download speed was 976.2 Mbps (normal), but my upload speed was 423 Mbps (seems low). My MAC studio is connected to a switch, as is my Synology DS1821+. I did this test because my write speed was around 8 MB/s (so low) and my read speed was 110 MB/s (normal). I have a RAID 10 configuration and Cat 6 cables. Could it be the switch that is the problem? (MikroTik CRS305)?

    • @simccaffrey
      @simccaffrey Před rokem

      That's probably your switch, you could try messing with Qos, or flow control to see if it helps...but you should really go 10G with that setup! I have the exact same setup, get the 10G card for the DS1821+...if you need a switch on the cheap, I have the XGS1250-12...leave everything at default, about 9700mbps both ways!

    • @digital_aloha
      @digital_aloha  Před rokem

      @rakeshindrajit5421, I believe you need the Docker package installed to remove the container. Once installed you can go to the Main Menu from DSM and select Docker. Once the Docker package/application is up and running select the Container listing where now you should see the OpenSpeedTest container. Here you should be able to select the container, stop it and then delete the container from the Action menu. Hope this helps?

      @@rakeshindrajit5421 That is strange? I wonder if a reboot of your Synology NAS might help get your Docker install back to good. Also, you could ssh into your Synology NAS and confirm that the openspeedtest container is still running (sudo docker ps). You can then remove the container at that point if you see that it is there (sudo docker stop , then run sudo docker rm ). Hope the above helps resolve the mystery!!??

      Search for openspeedtest/latest. Seems like you need to be more precise with the search in Container Manager (which I'm assuming you are using?).
