- In this documentary, we went to Hyde Park for 420 to film at what could be the UK's biggest gathering of people doing illegal drugs.
We spoke to cannabis users and activists who thought it was a plant "just like cucumbers and tomatoes" as well as the police who refrained from arresting law-breaking civilians because there were simply too many of them.

That’s what I said to my friends when we left Hyde park, if that was a concert or just a beer festival there would be fights everywhere. All I saw when I was there was people enjoying the teeny bit of sun, listening to music and laughing with friends. No issues whatsoever

Why do people always compare weed to alcohol? It’s like comparing weed to heroin, completely different.
Police officer near the end is such a legend, he seems like the right kind of person who should be an officer. He does his job to keep people safe if anything serious happens, but has no interest in stopping people from doing a benign act that should quite clearly not be a criminal offence.

Very true! And they say it’s addictive! When in reality it’s not! Not the plant itself anyway! I believe it all comes down to ur own mind and mindset on it! That makes you hooked on the stuff! Tommy Chong (my hero) proved it’s not addictive! I myself a casual to regular smoker am able to quit when and where I like I have done and will do! I only smoke THC weed in the autumn and winter months but sometimes smoke a couple of cbd weed to fill the gap here and there
One bowl a night is good for me. I don't smoke throughout the day even though cannabis is legal in my country. Also, driving and weed never mix.

For anyone that hasn't heard: The US just announced it's re-classifying cannabis as a lower schedule substance (since 1918 it's been schedule 1, same class as hard drugs like heroin & coke similar to how it's classed overseas) which is the first step needed for Nationwide legalization (like in Canada), hopefully that'll help the UK & other countries follow suit
if you ask asomeone on the street whether the police should be allowed to go through everyones data all the time, a lot of people in this country would say yes as long as it nominally counters threats to the public and threats to the state. People just go along with it and take bureaucracy and overreach as the given.
What i mean is that in a country where a pubs don't have smoking rooms no matter if everyone in the room consents to be there or not, too many people would be against the liberalisation of anything and would presume the nanny state has their best interests in mind. I think a state could have the populations best interests in mind but i think this one does not. Thats why i think we are going to remain behind other countries on this law by a significant number of years.

More weed smokers need to know how easy it is to get a legal prescription for cannabis in bud, vape,oil etc etc from sapphire medical or many other medical cannabis companies in the UK, you just need 3 zoom appointments at 50 quid a go then after that its 50 a month and the price of the prescription, your prescription arrives in the post, im prescribed 4 gram of flower per day, it arrives in a secure package and I get 4 weeks supply at a time , the cost of the prescription is just under 70 for the 4 weeks.
That is also the problem with it too. I used to smoke very heavily when I was younger but now I'm older and a stay at home dad, I don't have the funds for monthly subscriptions which is technically what it is. I smoke way less nowadays and usually buy 3.5grams about 4 or 5 times a year and that 3.5grams usually lasts me about a month as I don't do it every day, just when I fancy it. So, until they fully legalize it, it's actually less expensive to get it on the black market for me personally, but I don't like going to get it off someone who also sells other things too. Nothing like getting a nice relaxing bag of herb off your guy at the same time as a crack heads there tweaking looking to get his fix lol.

So you get 4 grams a day and 4 weeks supply for less than £70?
So 4gram x7 is 28grams (an Oz a week) so you get 4oz's for less than £70?
@@vinnyvtec8722 the first 3 face time appointments cost 50 each, then after that you just pay for the 4 weekly prescription, however both sapphire medical and integra medical have schemes in place to help people who are on benefits, most of the time you end up just paying a nominal dispensing fee if your fit the criteria for the free cannabis prescriptions, don't give up, we are nearly at the point of legalisation for full recreational cannabis use, keeping asking drs etc etc we will get there .
@@vinnyvtec8722 yeah, I took a while to get that amount, however I've just switched to 1000 mg pure cannabis vapes , I get one mil vape for each day, a 1 mil vape of 1000 mg THC oil lasts around one week, they are by far the superior way to inhale medication, for 20 vapes IV paid 74.99 , from the very first one I used I haven't gone back to regular spliffs , tiny bit of fine cut tobacco and around a gram of bud , thats how I used it for over 30years and I haven't even wanted a regular spliff my THC vapes and a nicotine salt vape have replaced them, I can honestly say that the vapes are without a doubt the absolute best way to consume THC especially if you are looking for the same feeling as you get from smoking it , the benefits are my chest feels better day by day Im I can breathe better as each day passes, and there's no way of anyone knowing what I'm vaping, they don't stink of bud, don't get me wrong, you can absolutely taste it but when I exhale there's so little in terms of vapour that you can barely even see the vapour leaving your mouth, it's the best discovery in my life, I encourage everyone to look into it.

It's already legal here too. There are 7 private clinics in the uk, all have different consutations processes and fees

I think it may be getting away with something harmless that the authorities say isn't allowed that may be the thrill for some. I've quit using pot now and feeling way more productive motivated and creative and far less dependent but I hope them kids have fun

Yes, the argument is often made as "it's just a plant so it's harmless" which is stupid, but there's more than one way to make this argument.

@@O.rhys420the British police don't care unless you're growing it at your house. You can also easily get delivered straight to your house some very high grade stuff if you know the right people. It's just as easy to get as a vape or a takeaway.
No offence mate, but Florida weed laws are probably worse than the UK currently. You only have medical, and the list of qualifying conditions is pretty small, probably easier to qualify for medical in the UK.

More people need to talk about the fact that weed is a gateway drug. The fact that weed is illegal means that to buy it you have to get in contact with a drug dealer and break the law to access and consume it. It's clear to see how once someone has crossed that line it's easier to move onto harder drugs and more dangerous illegal activities. Simple solution: Legalise cannabis.

Glad to see this. Canada has experienced legalisation since October 17, 2018, so 420 Day isn't as big as a deal as it used to be, but Britain needs to keep pushing the envelope. Cannabis should be legal in the UK.

im from germany, i dont smoke weed but i grow 3 big cannabis plants in my house to give the cannabis to my brother and his friends because they like it, for me drinking alcohol, smoking weed, watching football its all unnecessary mindless entertainment but as long as people pay their bills they can do whatever they want

here in Germany we habe partial-legalisation for a month now. specifically Bavaria (Bayern) doesnt like to follow the new federal cannabis regulations. if such gathering would be at "Englischer Garten" (Munich), the cops wouldnt be that relaxed.

We just "legalized" (well, de facto only decriminalized) on April 1st here in Germany. You know what? Over 60 years of prohibition are still stuck in many heads. I still look around "suspiciously", when lighting up in public.
The approach of the cops in the video is pretty much what we had here over the years on Hemp Parade in Berlin. They also just said: All or none. We get the dealers, the stoners are left alone. And we need more cops like the one in the end of the video everywhere.
Anyhow, well done video, I like that style of just going in with a mic and ask people. Sad you barely got any bystanders to talk to.
I have a prescription in the UK and even with that I still feel uncomfortable vaping it in public because you could get stopped by an officer that's just completely uninformed on the subject or just in a mood and deciding to be an arsehole, you're right the world does need more officers like the one at the end but even still there's always going to be some bad apples. Hoping the UK follows suit of Germany but I think we've probably still got another 100 years yet with the state of our government
@@Fourty-jt4eq I hope you follow suit but do it differently. It's so painfully german. Over-bureaucratic and many completely useless rules. It's common sense not to toke near minors and families. They made it a misdemeanor and thanks to being a federal country in some german states it's 1000,- if you smoke next to a playground in a park.
Of course there are always bad apples. We have had our share of scandals around that in Germany the past years.

I mean it really isn’t, sure there are people there who are wannabes, but you get that everywhere in life, a huge amount of people use it, myself included because it’s the only thing that alleviates symptoms of a condition that EVERY other treatment has failed. I’m willing to bet you drink alcohol, which kills many, many more people than weed in the uk every year, even if you take into account the percentage of people who use weed compared to alcohol, alcohol is still significantly worse. Not everyone is a sheep.
