    1975, twelve years old, this was the first music-album in my life.

    Don't worry, the goosebumps will go away after a couple of days

      And then play the masterpiece again and the goosebumps will return.

    9:05 That's actually a keyboard synth, but it sounds pretty similar

    *Rory.* Pan pipes... Morricone...😄 always fun to see what cues you pick up 🙂 Such a great album 🔥♥️
    Love how we can measure musical greatness by:
    * the number of times Rory says YEAH ... (or fuck yeah)
    * length of uninterrupted grinning
    * actual manly giggles
    * intensity of concentration face
    * spontaneous mmmmmms
    * insightful comments about song elements, roots and/or possible musical influences
    Even on songs I'm deeply familiar with, I always pick up something new through your reviews.
    Thanks for doing it right👍🤗
    (Note to Rory peeps: Are ya paypalling/patreoning yet? Get in there, if you can! Let's hear Rory's thoughts on your picks!)

    Yeh, as Phil says The Machine is the music industry...and followed by Have A Cigar, following a similar theme

  • @philshorten3221
    @philshorten3221 Před rokem +3

    The Machine is the Music Industry.
    Something the band felt was a major contributing factor in Syds decline.
    Where the promise of fame and fortune has to be earned day after day, the artist is expected to perform. Coupled with the in-restricted supply of anything the artist wants, healthy or not, anything to keep them turning out what the Music Industry wants.

    Timeless tracks never lose traction in the space time continuum. And one of the best bands that will ever be!
    Great reaction!!

    It is so interesting watching those of this generation reacting to these masterpieces. Because when these albums were released, they spoke to the ''then' generation addressing the current world climate with their own unique and mesmerising commentary. The instant I hear the opening few chords, I am immediately transported back to 1974-1975...the time of the Global recession, Richard Nixon's resignation after the Watergate scandal...and me languishing away my Summer in cut off white Levi's shorts, smoking Kent menthol cigarettes. Music of this ilk is packed to the overflowing with fairy dust, capable of enabling time travel.❤

    If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times...when you world turns to shit and you've had a crappy day, you come home, pour a scotch (or similar), or glass of red, drink that offing it down. Then, pour another, woof that down too, then pour a third one and go turn off all the lights. Put this, OR any Pink Floyd record on. Go find a bean bag or deep leather couch, put your headphones on and sink down into your chair, close your eyes, sip away the final drink, and let the music sooth your soul !!!

    It's not Sid Barrett he is dead and this is their 9th
    Album and it was out in 1975.

    It's about the music industry. The end was an express elevator going up and the doors open to a party, it will make sense after you hear the next song.

    Rory I know your future!!!
    From time to time, even 50 years from now, you'll listen to Shine On You Crazy Diamond, and it will feel just like it does now.
    For me, everytime I hear it I'm back in the mid '70s 😉

    You clean up nice bro... Impressed. Nice reaction. All of the above in terms of your analysis of 'welcome to the machine'. Except for the "nut house" part. Don't recall anything about Syd ever being institutionalized.

    Emblematic song of Pink Floyd this song was the indroduction of the radio program in Spain named " El loco de la colina" ( The mad man of the hill), it was broadcasted after midnight and the broadcaster spoke with this music in the background, the show talked about trascendental topics of human and divine so ambiental, a very good program my mother told me about the song, thanks Rory, good songs reaction The Guess Who - American Woman ¡¡ Bye !! 👍👏🏻👌🎷🎸
