Nope, you were still going to cuss for hours! That little trim piece at the bottom of the radio was absolute hell to remove.

Wow they made that more difficult than it needs to be.
Glad none of the plastic cracked or snapped anywhere.
Was cringing seeing some of the bends while you were taking pieces off. I'd be to scared something would break haha.

You and me both. I suppose the good news is that The factory trim piece around the radio doesn't get reused.

funny that I found this video right after selling my '15 forte5. I was considering upgrading the audio and I'm very glad I didn't

Yeah, getting that dash off was absolute hell. I've never had that much trouble getting a dash off.

That top piece looked like it was about to snap. Wouldn't want to try that in a 10yr old car baking in the sun.

The factory went a little overboard. There were a total of 12 clips holding that piece in.

That is going to be a nice upgrade to the stock unit. Are you going to be upgrading the speakers as well?

Eventually, it is my wife's car and she needs a little bit of convincing. She claims that she does not like/want/need a killer system, but every time she jumps in my truck she cranks it up and just about runs me out of the darn thing.

I'll be doing this on my 2017 Forte soon. I worked on the door speakers today, and could not find a color decoding chart for the polarity. If you know where I might find one, please let me know. :)

Check out the Kia forte forums. I popped over there and asked a few questions about the car before I started tearing into it. One of the members pointing me towards a really good info resource. I could not have gotten the car apart without it. Try www.kifomanual.com.
Good luck with the build and good luck getting the dash off. As you can see from the video I'm very lucky that I didn't break anything. in fact I never bothered replacing that lower trim piece that was so difficult to get out. I had some trouble with the USB connection and I want to make sure I've got that sorted out before I put that piece back on.

I have a Kia Forte LX sedan 2017, I want a radio upgrade from Kia Forte factory small radio to Kia Forte S touchscreen radio nav UVO, what I need ?? Help me!!

If you want to replace it with a factory radio then you are going to spend a ton of money at the dealership, If a dealership will even swap out a radio for you. There's probably some interface missing in your version that won't let the upgraded factory radio work.
An aftermarket radio with navigation is also going to be expensive, but it's a lot cheaper than going to the dealership to see if they can upgrade your radio. If you're totally lost and not sure what to your best bet is to go to a local car stereo shop, see what they have in stock and see what they charge to install it.
If you are totally lost don't try to do this on your own. You would be better off paying a shop to do it.

Would the 7 inch OEM be plug and play?
