He gets invited to do “celebrity” events and such by the dp tour, he certainly isn’t going to give LIV any credit for anything, he doesn’t want to shit where he eats
Great to hear about the drinking abstinence Rick. When you realize that humans are hard-wired to be social, and don't need alcohol to do it, you'll realize that it's all just social programming and marketing. Literally so many positives and no negatives to completely cutting it out.
The big negative I can think of is dealing with drunk people whilst you yourself are not… please tell me a more annoying situation🤣

One of my first memories of golf, was carrying the scoreboard at the Celtic manor in the Welsh open. The group was Paul mcginely, Phil price and Robert rock. And I think it was on the 5th hole par 5 into the wind, Rob was the first player I had ever seen hit driver of the deck. My jaw hit the floor as he hit this low fizzing driver to about 10 foot. Fair to say I hit the course as soon as I could the try and replicate this. Failed massively but has to be one of the best shots I’ve ever seen live. Such a nice guy

About 35 years ago a dried out old drunk suggested I try sobriety for 30 days. He told me if I didn't like it after 30 days I could go back to the drinking and have all the headaches and heartaches, hangovers, and all the joys that drinking brings. He advertised sobriety like a product in a store. If you don'tike it you get 30 days to bring it back and you get your money back....lol...
I'm not saying those words "try sobriety for 30 days" sold me. It is one line though I do remember and I have been sober ever since.

LIV tournament in Adelaide is almost sold out for the corporate areas. General admission starts early december and will sell out. 30,000 each day.
From the TGL website, " the decision has been made to postpone the start of the TGL season until early 2025"

Nice rumor you guys are going to visit Dubai. Couple of interesting videos would be a break 75 on a sand desert course. They putt on browns not greens 😅 also the trump par 3 is epic and is floodlit. You could argue in some way the DP World is the 3rd best tour, if you look at how many cards are awarded at the end of the year for the PGATour. Korn Ferry gets 30 awarded. I think the DP World tour would be #2 as it stands but I’ve never heard anyone talk about this part.
Calling the INCREDIBLE competition just INCREDIBLE is underselling it massively. It might be the best prize aside from winning a billion dollars. My goodness Rick, how did you swing it? Please somehow let me win it.
The WGC events were created in a similar fashion although mainly held in the USA, but now no longer exist - even the match play event has now ceased with the 2023 event being the last, which is a shame

They almost always tape monday and release on tuesday.
Maybe you could put together an RS tour calendar with explanations of the reasons for the importance, how winning one game applies to another, how wins apply to cards, and other miscellaneous golf information as well as photos related to the most important golf event for each month. I would buy one for sure and hang it on my fridge!

1 point on golf having a break, What about the golfing fans in Australia? There are no events played in our country until the end of the year due to the PGA and DP World Tour having a monopoly on tour events throughout the year. If you have a break from Late November to January, when does that leave time for us Aussies to see quality golf?
As it stands, we get our home players generally come home and play, but rarely get top notch tour players. Lets bring in a 5th Major, played in Australia!!!!

You should know by now that the US and European golfing bodies don’t give a flying f**k about professional golf being accessible for the rest of the world or in growing golf globally especially in Australia, hell the pga tour actively tries to hamper Australian players from coming back and competing in the Aus open.
Mcilroy winning the DP World Tour again just screams that he's their golden boy and really is an injustice to the other players who play on the tour week in week out... Either play on the European Tour full time or hit a certain amount of events, not including majors and you go from there... Just seems like the European Tour is completely one directional when it comes to looking after certain players just look at their CZcams channel it may aswell be renamed to " Rory Mcilroy Highlights" He could literally miss a cut with a 76 and theyd still show him over someone who shot a 65... Its getting real old now and is partly to blame for why the European Tour is seen as a joke.
I thought TGL would collapse quickly, but wow....A giant tent in hurricane alley probably not the best idea.

The thoughts on the tours are interesting. Some things LIV got right but like you said weeks ago people need a reason to invest in players
/teams.
As a golf fan, the idea of less events is just not appealing to me. Even if there are "lesser events" I still love to havd golf every week and have something to watch on the weekend/root for. It may be a smaller event, or a one off winner, but I think that is still an enjoyable product and love being able to travel to see the PGA TOUR across the US.
Rick just described how tennis works, and that's EXACTLY how golf should be.

@rickshielsgolfshow seems like the world tour idea is simply the liv golf model. Simply make it the top 100 and award points for the overall league position 100 points for a win 1 for finishing last or reverse.

a standard dp tour probably has a lesser callibre field than a korn ferry.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one not excited about Tiger's return. His age, his injuries, just don't think he'll ever be a real force on the PGA tour. I don't think he'll win another tournament on the PGA tour so he probably will always be tied with Sam Snead. But I think he could really take the Champions tour to a different level once he turns 50.
Its the same issue I have with European soccer leagues. So many different cups and tournaments going on simultaneously during the regular season. All for money at the end of the day.
You know I think the way they're doing it actually makes a little sense with DP world tour players going to the PGA it gives an opportunity for some of these college students in America and in Europe that haven't got a proper chance to play on a proper tour and I believe there's some unbelievable players out there given a chance could be some of the greatest golfers

17:30. Off season?! DP World Tour went from the 2023 Tour Champs finishing on Sunday and then 2 tournaments, yep, that’s TWO tournaments starting off the 2024 season on the following Thursday (one in Australia and one in South Africa) so that’s 4 days later. Some ‘off season’!!!!
This weeks first tournament is South Africa. Not oz. Soz for being an anorak!

A world tour would be the best thing for the game of golf

Meronk looks impressive until you look at his missed cuts in the biggest events. Last I checked it out it was something like in the 9 biggest events he played in he missed the cut 7 times, which is horrendous, but on some occasions he's able to put it together for a win. I don't know much about the guy, but he must be a head case. The lack of grace he showed by not getting selected for the Ryder Cup is very telling.

That’s the most insane giveaway I’ve ever heard. If I win, I’m going to by my wife (scratch) a brand new set of irons. There’s no way she can set foot on that course with her game improvement irons.

Will Rory Mcllroy ever win again
If he puts Charlie on the bag I could see another major win just like jack in 86 with his son on the bag
With Rory, without winning he does really well in Majors. As much as people say he doest win, his consistency is better than anyone. Last 2 years (so 8 majors) hes only missed the cut once and not finished outside the top 7 of the other 7 tournaments. So accumulating points for Race to Dubai is easier because they are bigger events. That along with 2 wins and decent performance in Matchplay prob should put him up there. Hojgaard only has 1 win, 1 2nd and 1 3rd all season and finished 2nd in race to Dubai? Above Meronk withn3 wins or Rahm who won the Masters and was on fire first 4 months of the year. Questionable
When you do prizes such as golf clubs if someone is Left-Handed what do you do there
To mention a players made cuts without mentioning their missed cuts is pretty ridiculous. A that point there's a clear agenda/bias to make a player look better than they were.

I dont think if you are a top 50 in the pga tour you should not be able to play in the DP world tour. To me its unfair and if your top 50 on the pga tour you make enough money. Give the guys coming up a chance.

Will Tiger Woods feign injury again as soon as he starts playing bad?
Overall I would say that there's about a 50% chance, however I would say if he's playing bad there's a 100% chance (in other words there's about a 50% chance that Tiger Woods will play bad enough to quit).
If he does it again that should be it... he shouldn't be allowed back.

TGL delayed a year, announced today
Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's indoor golf league, TGL, has postponed its inaugural season by a year until the start of 2025, the organization said Monday. The decision comes after the roof of the new arena slated to host TGL matches collapsed last week.
If it had still been a European tour with European running it DP would have partnered with LIV and lifted its profile, LIV has invested massively into the Asian tour, meanwhile PGAT has gutted and stripped DP tour, says so much. Sorry to say as a LIV fan serves the DP tour right for letting the Americans use them as doormat. Rick as for your comment about a world tour, that is what Norman proposed and was shot down by PGAT, an American organisation who believed they deserved to lock all the best players in continental USA. The ATP tennis tour leqaves golf for dead. Even DARTS is more global than PGAT.
Most of the players need to play for income no? Off season would hurt a lot of players.

At last! The ridiculousness of the European order of merit has been discussed. I’ve been saying for years it’s value has been diminished by the PGA tour players scoring high in co-sanctioned events. It’s a complete mockery!
I think there is too much golf. With American football you have an "off season" and so when football season comes around everyone is pumped up. There are too many events and I start to tune out. Too much of a good thing can change people's feelings. I need a break from golf. There should be about 3-4 months off, in the winter, to allow a break for the players and fans. Just my opinion.

It sounds like what guy is asking for is a lot less professional golfers. The less tournaments there are the less amount of people they need to fill them and a lot of guys making their living are going to be working in grocery stores.
