Absolutely you are right. This is just one of those songs that I feel is timeless and perfect in so many ways. And this is coming from a guitar shredding metal head lol. There’s so much talent in Nickel Creek, Punch Brothers, everything Chris Thile does is amazing. In my opinion he is a modern day Mozart for me at least. This song is my favorite of every one of his songs though. So beautiful, deep, full of meaning and just flawlessly performed. Can’t say enough good things about this song and Chris Thile.

Coming back here to say that when I first heard this song the lyrics hit me so hard that decided I couldn’t listen to it anymore. My faith was so fragile at the time (grew up Mormon) and I was so insecure about it that I felt like this song was somehow out to get me. I decided to leave my faith last year. It was a challenging time but I’m thankful for this song and other nickel creek/punch brothers songs that got me through.

The last several lines are my favorite in the whole song. They're the most hopeful and most honest and are the real resolution to the feelings expressed in the song: "Please give me time to decipher the signs, please forgive me for time that I've wasted.
I'm a doubting Thomas. *I'll take your promise, though I know nothing is safe.* Oh me of little faith."
I especially love the line, "I'll take your promise, though I know nothing is safe." Doing that is an act of faith. By coming to the conclusion that you will take God's promises and act on them, even if you don't fully understand or comprehend them, it's powerful and is the definition of faith. If I met someone who expressed the feelings of this song to me, I would tell them that they are not "of little faith." I would tell them that they are in the process of building and confirming their faith.

What will be left when I've drawn my last breath
Besides the folks I've met and the folks who know me
Will I discover a soul saving love or
Just the dirt above and below me?
    I'm a doubting Thomas
    I took a promise
    I do not feel safe
    O' me of little faith
Sometimes I pray for a slap in the face
Then I beg to be spared cause I'm a coward
If there's a master of death I bet he's holding his breath
Cause I show the blind and tell the deaf
    About his power
    I'm a doubting Thomas
    I can't keep my promises
    Cause I don't know what's safe
    O' me of little faith
Can I be used to help others find truth
When I'm scared that I'll find proof that it's a lie
Can I be led down a trail dropping bread crumbs
To prove I'm not ready to die
Please give me time to decipher the signs
Please forgive me for time that I've wasted
    I'm a doubting Thomas
    I'll take your promise
    Though I know nothing's safe
    O' me of little faith
    O' me of little faith

They are in Heaven and you will see them again. though for us, it is too long, from where we are in our doubts. but is also why they need to hear the word, to keep them safer. to guide them better ways. Consider Peter, after Christ Died, and took all the sins of the ones that come to love him. What was Christ's response to Peter? Its a team effort, no one is the Christ or God. We cannot take that on, to think we are. Praise God for those that know that and those yet to learn it, too. There is plenty of evidence, all around, to prove the promises are real. We are told blessed are they that believe and yet have not seen. Blind faith. Not worldly blindness, there is a difference. Every day we are learning more and more. The Lord saves, more and more, the spiritual battle is on. Do not listen to the evil that doubts, and causes the hell that lives inside, with what we have seen of those that never knew. Never learned they are the ones that tell us how important it is, to learn, to teach, to guide properly in all things. We are strong, as one, team. That is what it takes. All of us together. To teach, to guide, to live. Our spirit truly does, live, beyond this body. That is the God's honest truth. But we are also instructed, no one needs to prove that, simply because it has been proven. Those tasked with telling the truth, can teach that and not tempt anyone to find out for theirownselves. because if it is on purpose, it surely is death, and gone from this earth in the package, or body we live in. Tempt not the Lord your God in Jesus Holy name that took all the suffering for each and every sin, so to tell it. So, in that, no one try to die, no one try to experience it, if it doesnt happen naturally to you, then it is not up to you or is it your job. It is not, if it does not happen naturally. Innocently. We do live in this package, we have a time on this earth in this package our body we live in. All kind s of human nature will lie, those that want you to die because they want your bodies spot in life, etc. consider the cunningness of evil. there is no end or limit to the evil. the lies, etc. be not lured to your death either. everyone has their jobs and their times. no one should be interrupting God's powers, decisions, etc. that disrupts every thing for all man kind. not our job. Where ever there is doubt, there is a answer in that book. dieing to see, is covered also. satan tempting the lord is covered also. innocense and nature is in the book. nothing that is not in that book. We are humbled to be by God not by man or his ways or his deceptions, or anything else man.

God created the Heaven's and the earth, and everything in it, everything over it, everything. all any man can possibly see, and in that, people need to know that. God created his only begotten son, by way of immaculate conception. No one else is. When God created Adam and Eve, he also created their way to recreate, in them. What is by man, is by man, what is by God is by God. But God created, all. what came first the chicken or the egg? its a long asked question. to answer it? the chicken, with the egg. Perfectly created.

  • @marionwilson2521
    @marionwilson2521 Před 3 lety

Like Adam and Eve, with the way. God created all things. perfectly. The seeds? Cut a apple in half. look at it. see the colors of man? skin? look at the earth. But what is the spirit? it is clear. It is not seen. It is as God. or, with God, if or sleeps, until the time. either way. the spirit lives. if you see and believe, are you still blessed? yes, because that is so minute, in comparison to all God has created. what is it you need to see? that will speak to you and your heart? what do you want to see? Because right now, you maybe wishing, you had not seen, are not guilty until see and know. The Greek versions are in the book too. who is not mentioned in the book? all are mentioned in the book. live and love. It is so unfortunate, many times over the only time that people hear about God is at a funeral. what does that teach and why is that? that is the perfect plan, by evil. To relate God to death, he is not death, he is love and mercy and living. Creator of all things, man his perfect, beautiful creation given the love inside of them. What does man do? that does not know. has not seen? has not been taught? has not been lead? what does man do? what does man need to see? i t is love, it is true. it is real. I never turned my back on one of my children. They are the pieces of God's very own heart, given to me. What happens? what does our confidense tell us? if our confidense is low, or our spirits are weak. what does evil use, to deceive us? to try to deceive christ. what was used, when Christ being tempted by the evil one? he still in his weakness, over came the lies and temptations. who are we? each one blessed to receive the word. who tells it? that matters if they have the right word? the book is vast, there are so many. as people too. so much sounds the same. I pray God, let us have mercy, to teach, to learn it could not be more important. for so many are so sadly missed. when i visit a spirit, i have learned many things. in those things are always mercy, for the punishment i stand to receive by waking the spirit that sleeps. but praise be god in heaven, for the truth stands. in jesus holy name, amen.live love and learn. we can die at 120 yrs old and still not know all things.
