@@Anreii in wood-frame houses, you need to find a bit of wood close to the surface of the wall in order to use most nails or screws, because drywall is not meant to support heavy weight. Unless you put up the house yourself, it’s pretty much impossible to guess where the right wood parts (called studs) are, which is where stud finders come in. This one is probably much more expensive and complicated than most people need, though.
