Everyone has questions. Some are simple - how's the weather? Others are difficult - What is the meaning of life? What is my purpose? What was I made for? These questions are tough. Everyone has them, but no one wants to ask them. This is why we hide these questions behind the phrase "I'm asking for a friend..." It gives permission to ask tough questions, without revealing our true thoughts and feelings.
The tragic events of July 13 are resonating throughout the United States and around the world. It's a shock to many people. There are so many questions about where we should turn and what we should do. But the answer is simple - we need to look to Jesus. Jesus models the life of a peacemaker and calls each of us to be peacemakers. So how do we respond to tragic and unsettling events in our world? As followers of Jesus, we are to respond as people of peace.
