- A suspected cash-in-transit robber has been killed in a shootout with the police while another has been injured in Randfontein, West of Johannesburg. Two other suspected criminals have been arrested.
West Rand district commissioner, Major-General Fred Kekana explains.

Why give bail for such serious offences, but deny bail for 1st time offenders for " assault" , when defending their property??
I also don't understand as to when the magistrate grant bale, he/she does not think about the safety of the community. It is possible that some of the confiscated vehicles where violently hijacked.

Great work by the SAPS. When the SAPS conduct arrests like these I am always reminded of a person that once said "We all think SAPS is useless until you're the one they are looking for" it is easy for us to judge when they fail and yet we do not applaud them enough when they pull off operations like these. Regardless of everything that I have said, they can always improve in all aspects.

2 R5 rifles recovered - these are military weapons not available to the public, and the SAPS is trying to remove legal weapons from citizens. Maybe they should de-weaponize the army first and allow the public to perform their duties
Military normally use R4, these R5 are for the SAPS probably are those which are robbed at police stations such as Malamulele
@@user-bm3it6uz1w when I was in the military, we used R5s. But both SANDF and SAPS have been robbed of weapons so it could be either. The fact that criminals have these weapons and citizens not, means that the attempt to take weapons from law abiding citizens is idiotic to say the least.
