"Once and for all Charles....What the hell does this mean?" I did backstage effects (mostly operated a fog machine when the ghosts entered) That was my favorite line! What a way to end a scene. Our ghosts were painted in purples and greys. They looked great. Whenever I wasn't backstage I was watching.
toriboy25 Such a great line! They had made an exact replica of my day costume in whites and grey. I came through a window and said that line, had the audience in stitches. Really hard not to laugh
Dan Stevens can do anything. It's just so damn difficult to watch anything he's in because his face -- his hair, his eyes and his voice, are completely intoxicating and a complete distraction!! The most perfect man on the planet.
The funny thing about all of this is that this movie has been on my laptop drive for a while and I have been avoiding it thinking that I would scare myself silly as a horror movie not knowing what it was all about and today at midday I plucked up the courage to watch it and I've had some serious chuckles watching this as it's just so funny, so humorous and I just loved it to bits and I guess the punchline to all of this is don't judge a book by its cover lol. I can't remember when I downloaded it but I honestly thought it was the most macabre horror movie ever and was pleasantly surprised today, very very funny Absolutely love Judi Dench, Dame Judi Dench should I say, particularly in the movie Chocolat 💞
They've gone and made this a lot sillier than the original! A big change: Madame Arcati in the play and 1945 film is an obscure village eccentric, not a famous stage attraction.
This is the most refreshing preview in a while! It's fun that Charles will be a screenwriter instead of a novelist, so they could open the film up to Pinewood Studios in the 30's. Dan Stevens might be terrific, though the natural choice might've been Ralph Fiennes. I found Leslie Mann's accent a bit wanting as Elvira though she's right for the role. And Judi Dench will be marvelous as Mme. Arcati! Can't wait.
Saw the 1987 revival of the play on Broadway. It starred - get this - Richard Chamberlain, Blythe Danner, Judith Ivey, and Geraldine Page who passed away during the run. Tom Cruise and his then wife Mimi Rogers were sitting four rows behind me. Just wow.
@@hanniffydinn6019 Legion is a tv show where Dan Stevens plays a schizo/multiple personality disorder who's posesses by a spirit. Oh, and he also has limitless power. Joonha Shcal I realised the reference afterwards even though I’ve seen the show! I liked season 1, then style of storytelling just got annoying. Just came from watching this, loved it! It was silly but it's what I was expecting when I went into it! Now I want to read/see the original play and watch the first movie. In other words, loved it!
@@mizzdeester3958 In the original movie the lines are not played with such silliness. Modern times, "the age of the fart joke is king", subtlely and class fly out the window.

I can't believe Leslie Mann is in a movie that's not directed, produced, or written by her husband. Hold up! Her daughters aren't in it either?! WOW!!!
The original from 1945 still stands today as a great treat to watch. This best live up to that because often remakes are simply shoddy replacements. This was a classic and one of my all time favs, mainly because of Margaret Rutherford's portrayal of Madam Arcati a class act, let alone the other actors in it. Pure Sunday afternoon joy. Rex Harrison ... Charles Condomine Constance Cummings ... Ruth Condomine Kay Hammond ... Elvira Condomine Margaret Rutherford ... Madame Arcati Hugh Wakefield ... Dr. George Bradman Joyce Carey ... It's already a movie, and hilarious. Please don't waste a nickel on the recent remake, an embarrassing mess. Talented bunch of actors in a horrid remake I'm sure they'll regret forever. Where's Margaret Rutherford when you need her?!
Margaret Rutherford's role in the original was a hard act to follow, but Judi Dench has reinvented the character while maintaining the essence of the role. I like the modernisation of all the characters, looks less sexist. I found the actor Rex Harrison comes across as a bachelor, cad/player, he just rubbed me up the wrong way, but then I heard Noel Coward didn't like women and that attitude came across. The original movie was perfectly cast though and was a good interpretation of the play. This new movie has just improved on it without taking away from it's main themes. I look forward to seeing the film. Thank you for re writing it! awesome.

Adaptation, not remake.
This is how you redeem yourself after starring in Cats.
It’s judi dench, she doesn’t need to redeem herself
John Smith Ever.
