    As a recent purchaser of a VS3, I wish I knew about this before I bought a different hand grinder last year for camping. Great to know the Varia quality transfers through the range. My wallet could be in danger..

    I love the idea of having a portable automatic grinder like this. The grinding is quite slow but honestly it gives you time to gather and prepare your brewing stuff instead of being stuck manually grinding for 40-50 seconds. And just be able to take it with you anywhere and have a standard USB-C for charging, absolutely stellar :)

    As always, thanks for the great review. I have purchased the Millab EV01 grinder on indiegogo, so I await its arrival and your comparison. This one obviously has no issues grinding for Espresso, but the torque and battery on the Millab appear better in the information available to us purchasers. Let’s hope the Millab is equally as good for espresso.

    nice and portable. Be a fun pair with outin nano + the new steel machine basket plus (decent steel basket for outin). though then the hilarity of price differences.
    but still be a nice small pack for a travel bag

    Thank you for the wonderful review. I am curious if the grinder works while charging/plugged in.

    Definitely think this thing is pretty cool! If you are on a bit of a strange budget I can see how this is absolutely the one and only grinder you would want.
    However it's a bit big to like take into work (compared to the Timemore Nano S or something) imo. I don't think I would actually take anywhere realistically. I would either want to take something smaller, or just bite the bullet and take like a Lagom Mini or VS3.
    Anyway, great video, and a really cool product. Love to see Varia take a shot at something like this.

    Thanks for the review, well done, as always.
    Question about the battery/motor warranty? How many cycles is the battery guaranteed for?
    Can you buy a new batter/motor separately? What is the cost of this?
    Thanks again.

      We can warranty on any grinder up to 12 months of purchase 🙌 I haven't heard of any issues arising from battery burn out yet

    I wonder if the motor can be purchased as a standalone, and how this compares to 1Zpresso's lineup, mainly the K-Ultra.

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  Před 4 měsíci +1

      In AUS you cannot purchase the motor separately. You can buy the grinder without the motor though.
      I compare it with the K-Ultra in the video FWIW 😊

    Would like to see the Flair's Power Tower compared to this. That one has 120 rpm and can be used on battery for one hour or become as an electric grinder

    Interesting flavor results. Usually slowest & least heat tastes best.
    Did you try RDT for the static?

    Hey Josh, I was going to pickup a Knock Aergrind for travelling with my aeropress, but you're out of stock. Do you expect it back in soon? Or would you recommend something else that would pair well with the aeropress?

      I use the 1Zpresso Q2 for travel with my aeropress. It fits inside the aeropress which is convenient and it makes great coffee

    An important part of a review is stating if you bought the grinder or were given it. If you were given it were there any conditions?

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  Před 4 měsíci

      no conditions. If you're new to viewing this channel - then I can understand the confusion and concern - this comes up occasionally 🫶 The method of my review is to show how it works, describe it's benefits and test them, and present it's common flaws that should be considered. I do not venture in to a product review simply to attack its merit, rather follow a line of investigation in to who the product would be best suited for - and does it do what the marketing around it suggests it can do.

    Hi Joshy
    Does the vs3 has the stock supernova burrs?

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Haha ! Yes it did. I triple checked that for sure - as I would naturally have the HN Ultra Burrs installed.

    • @wakeawaken430
      @wakeawaken430 Před 4 měsíci

      @@AlternativeBrewing it's difficult in Europe to get this grinder
      As I want to the HN ultra burrs, maybe I should get first the stock burrs and then order the upgraded one

    So, 40W 80 RPM aren´t enough to be faster than grinding by hand? Sorry but where is the benefit of a motorized grinder then?

      People who don't have full ambulant use of their hands perhaps?

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  Před 4 měsíci

      So, to the best of my investigation - we can only generate a maximum of around 50W in this way of grinding beans. RPM can be much quicker though yes, upwards of 200 RPM. At the finer grind settings I'd be more happy to allow the Motor to do all the work 👌
