The entire episode I kept thinking...if a sticker could throw off a helicopter...what happens when a bird dookies on it? (Parked outside not while spinning) ... This myth was busted before it even began
38:37 "They help us remember how tenuous our grip on reality really is." I'm questioning Adam's tenuous grip on sanity 😂
Kari in a labcoat and bikini doing mentos & coke reactions altered my brain chemistry irreparably
I think this is where a lot of us were involuntarily educated of the allure of red haired women
30:30 Jamie being silly
Same thinking here. I remember some episodes but most of these are new to me so it's like watching an ever updating series that I kinda watched before 😂😂
"Wanna see me doing it again?" lol
Difficult to see Jamie as happy as a kid except when he's doing the most childish of jokes. Man takes his job seriously most of the time, but when he doesn't it's the most wholesome stuff you can find
@@btf_flotsam478 hm, yeah, that word may not mean what i thought it did. English is my second language and though i've been learning for 18+ years i still make even basic mistakes sometimes. languages are hard
Improper Fishing: Add some rocks to a bottle, enough to sink it. Put dry ice in bottle, and close it tightly. (No water needed.) Throw out of boat into lake, and wait for *bang.* Collect floating fish.
when Coke + Mentos was "an internet phenomenon". Lord I'm ancient.
I wonder if this was the episode where they discovered the super secret non-nitrogen-based homemade explosive.
Speaking of *bomb,* 2:23. Formative moment for so many of us.
It was the pierced tongue that made it for me. It’s known as a ‘functional piercing’. If you need help working out the function then you’re missing the point
This is definitely the episode where they went full on hunting for viral stuff. I keep wondering what the show would have been like with less internet.
@@markedis5902 TBH, I wouldn't need any help from the functional piece. Something about hotness in a lab coat.
I randomly checked my sub box and found this the amount sadness this cured is immeasurable
This is it. This was the first episode of Mythbusters I ever watched. I think I was 4 years old.
This is my genesis
First tought on helicopter stamp myth... imagine saying "ou, our helicopter went down because bird took a shit on the blade".
RIP Grant. You are missed.
22:04 lol, Grant givin the ol "f*ckin a!"
Steve Spangler signed a licensing agreement with Perfetti Van Melle, the marker of Mentos, after inventing an apparatus aimed to make it easier to drop the Mentos into the bottle and produce a large soda geyser. Amazing Toys, Spangler's toy company, released the Geyser Tube toys in February 2007. In October 2010, a Guinness World Record of 2,865 simultaneous geysers was set at an event organized by Perfetti Van Melle at the SM Mall of Asia Complex, in Manila, Philippines. This record was afterward beaten in November 2014 by another organized by Perfetti Van Melle and Chupa Chups in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico, where 4,334 Mentos and soda fountains were set off simultaneously.
Surprisingly, Kari Grant and Tori actually redid the dry ice in bottle test and prove the myth that that explosion can blast off your thumb if your holding it.
The casual FHM acknowledgement
Yeah that was a weird one…I mean look if it was her idea ig it’s okey (everyone wants to feel sexy from time to time) but it does seem quite out of character…
I did found a post on Twitter where she was signing old fhm Magazins soooo ig she is fine with it…
wouldn't she have wanted to sell more copies of the mag she was in? Getting it on Mythbusters would definitely be helpful.
@@GuyDudeman By the time the episode aired, the magazine would likely have been of the stands. Magazines typically came out 1-2 months after content was made for them. Mythbusters, I think I remember hearing, was often around 4 months. So even if the episode was filmed the day after the photoshoot, it wouldn't have helped sell more copies. But the actual order of things was: shoot happened, magazine got put out, internet reacted, Mythbusters was filmed.
Great classic episode!
Full 2L bottle of cola on a lathe. That takes the cake.
Adam also had a lathe accident last year i believe, he almost lost a finger trying to clean the lathe while it was on
sometimes adams head seems to be missing. like what in the seven hells was he thinking. no wonder jamie said not working with adam any longer is like getting rid of a rash after 12 years
“I have been a bubble-sculptor for about 20 years” 😂😂
The cameraman caught it the third time lol
A 1:7 scale helicopter doesn't weigh 1/7th of a real one, it weighs 1/7³ = 1/343th of one. They should've used a much smaller stamp. Distance, area and volume/mass/weight scales differently.
36:25 Someone needs to replace those batteries.
Rock salt! Thanks guys. I was hoping someone would figure out an alternative.
"Candy" and "soda".
At least they’re not wasting anything of nutritional value with the coke+mentos myth
I'm wondering if 8000 stamps have had the same effect on the model helicopter if they were all stuck flat onto the blade instead of screwing a big block on it which has much more air resistance...
For the salpeter/sugar smoke bomb: never heard that somebody but it in a pan to "bake" it. When we were kids we just mixed the two ingredients and then ignited the mixture with a lighter.
Years ago we were at a festival and had some dry ice in the form of tiny pallets with us. On the last day I did basically the same, poured about a tablespoon of it in a bottle and played around with it for like 10 minutes and nothing happened. Then I threw the bottle away as we were about to leave and just seconds later it exploded in such a loud bang. Funny coincidence (or not so funny, depending on your perspective) a buddy was jumpstarting another car and just as he attached the last cable the bottle went off. Poor guy almos crapped his pants.
Some people saw it happening and took the last bits of dry ice we had. When asking what they're up to, they said they want to make some bottle bombs and throw them in the portapotties. No idea how that ended though or if they even did it
The playlist says full episodes but there are a couple of episodes missing...
More specifically the 22,000 foot episode
once long time ago my dad added sugar to diet coke ceiling were wet
2:26 thats what im talking about
0:01 I'm sorry but A != 2pi*r²
Grant in the later episodes is called in to teach Adam and Jamie how to fly a remote controlled plane. I wonder if this episode made Grant want to hone those skills. He was already good at remote controlling things, but that doesn't seem to extend to airplanes.
Even during the original air date, they were using helicopters in warfare, if a stamp could down a gunship, what will AA do?
Were Kari, Grant and Tory testing a myth when Adam used the smoke bomb on them? If so, which one?
mentos and cola light bombs aren't safe for 4 year olds lmao
12:20 rare crew member siting.
Kari just being sexy again
Why is Kari in a photoshot in just a bra ? Weird
Edit: she did a photoshoot with a magazin (FHM) and they use it in the show
kari is hot fact
To me, diet soda gives me more gas.. More burps 😘🤭
31:00 Gigity
Is there a version of this episode without the rocket candy segment?
heli has low battery
I admire that Jamie has never murdered Adam. This episode is a prime example for stuff Adam is doing on camera that would drive any parent crazy; i guess there are some off camera comments from Adam that are NSFW that speak out what his body language is already screaming 🙂
Adam is adam and Jamie is Jamie, they worked together for many many years doing a lot of fantastic things. And that is basically it. Stop quacking about it.
@@rhysioeren3203 to make it clear: i am a big fan of both and i am following Adam for years at tested etc. Please don´t consider it to be disrespectful, just an observation and i fully agree that Adam is Adam 🙂
ruining a 20 thousand dollar lathe by putting a full 3 litre bottle of liquid sugar on it has to be some of the most infuriatinf things jamie experienced through adam. and i already thought its bad when adam started spewing coke everywhere on the facade of jamies shop.
Ground resonance can destroy the heli too: czcams.com/video/ZcdYIkrQVzA/video.html
the takeaway from this episode is that coca cola is poison
If you don't mind a stomach ache: eat the mentos and swallow them, then drink the cola.
They tested that later on, the reaction does not occur due to the delay between ingesting mentis and cola.
@@kyuofcosmic he didn't swallow them before adding the fizz, that said it's only bad if you do it on an empty stomach. (The Sulfuric Acid in the Stomach goes nuts)
What reason would you have to put a pressurized thin plastic bottle on a lathe? That is so silly only a EDIT:producer who never worked for a living, could have the idea.
You want a result as chaotic as several litres of cola hitting a ceiling.
If you thought purified sugar is bad for you? You chose chemical substitutes?
Im pretty sure it's the other way around, especially if high fructose corn syrup is involved
Fun fact: the very first artificial sweetener (think alchemy era stuff) was lead acetate, which is just as bad as you think. During the 1960s, when artificial sweeteners that didn't give heavy-metal poisoning was discovered, people had the exact reaction you have, but they have been extensively tested and found to have minimal health effects.
Why is Carrie wearing a bra in the mentos experiment?
They said it was for FHM, but omitted talking about how FHM was a men's magazine (it's a family show).
Why would this be a myth? I saw video proof and the army even okay ductape to patch bullet holes in helicopter rotors. Ductape proved so versatile it was kept after the Vietnam War.
Well... there are people who think the sun is directly above the clouds.
Any further questions?
Watching Jamie laughing feels like seeing Spock smile 😆
