This composition is addressed to a very special person for me.
The main feeling I tried to give is the feeling of moving away from a person, either independently of you or anyone else. But it is not about an abandonment or much less a loss.
A journey that that person is encouraged to give a change to his life, in a distant way and which in it entails the distancing of your loved ones.
A trip that although one knows where one is located, at the same time it is totally unknown.
The theme follows that little theme.
You start with saying goodbye and venture out on such a journey, but it's not all dark and negative. The mood gets better and better as you reach the destination.
I already did a theme with a similar mood in a composition.
In fact, I added several references to try to link it since the harmony is somewhat similar.
I really enjoyed composing this theme, I also partly enjoyed it because of the theme and structure, but for the next one I will try to go for something new and different.

Beautiful song, I liked it. It seems to me to make a lot of sense with the thematic.
The dissonance at the beginning followed by noise seems to capture well a feeling of initial discomfort and bewilderment. Then comes a part that sounds pretty melancholy. The flute and the strong presence of the atmosphere form the melancholy feeling.
Gradually I feel in the music that this uncomfortable situation is accepted. In 1:45 things get lighter (here you implemented such a comfortable atmosphere). In 2:09 it shows even more how positivity has been regained, I enjoyed these trumpets playing the dissonant melody.
From 2:35 onwards, I see the reference song in several parts (and the title is also a reference, haha). I think it starts with harmony (I don't know what harmony really means, so I'm guessing) or structure, and then comes several clearer references to melodies or note variation (like in 3:26, 3:35, 3:43, and then that comes from 4:15).

Regarding the harmony, you were not so wrong. In fact if you are referring to the structure, the harmony is the closest thing since in that set are the chords.
The rest of the references are generally in the melodic part.
(In fact, there are too many melodies playing at the same time. At minute 3:22 there are about 6 melodies, the trumpet, the piano, the left violin, the right violin and the two flutes)
