@@allin142 we generally rely on ancient texts. There were some veryyyyy old historians who wrote about these things. And most of our present knowledge of these events is based on what those historians wrote and a few other archaeological evidences

India as a country wasn't there at that time. We fought for British. Japanese captured Indians fighting for British and made tge prisoners if war, Subhash Chander Bose raised Azad Hind Fouj with these captured soldiers and they fought against British. So we were actually fighting from both sides
