  • Hello everyone! We just got back from another short trip to 7 Feathers - this time Eric got to go. We had a great time and thought it was high time we shared a little more about how we feel about our decision to make such a large purchase in buying a new 2021 Tiffin Wayfarer 25RW.
    It's really a great-driving, super comfortable little motorhome that has some great capabilities. We show you around ours and talk about things we like and a few things that need to be fixed. As always, when choosing an RV, there are a lot of compromises, but we feel this Tiffin Wayfarer model gave us the most with the least compromises to what we wanted and we're so happy we purchased it. We're having a ton of fun with it.
    Please like, subscribe, and hit the bell to be notified when new videos come out. I try to put a video out each week, but sometimes life gets in the way.
    Thanks for watching! We appreciate you.

    I really appreciate you providing this review by owner! Do you miss having a ladder to the roof? Also, are you happy with the theater seating vs a eating booth? Have you towed a vehicle? Thanks!

    • @FishTalesusa
      @FishTalesusa  Před 2 lety

      Have not towed a vehicle yet not sure if we’re going to at this point so far we’re going close to home so we’re just driving our mini separately. We don’t miss having a ladder to the roof I have a retracting ladder that I used to get up on the roof when needed so far I’m not carrying that with me I just use it when I’m at home. As far as the theater seats I absolutely love them they are the most comfortable things you could probably sleep a couple people in them if you need to they’re super great for sitting there while you’re eating and of course relaxing snoozing and just enjoying time with my wife. From what I’ve heard of other owners the dinette is very compact and it’s too short of a distance to sleep any sort of adults unless it’s a very short person or a child so it’s usefulness is somewhat limited it’s also a very small table top and so using it for playing games or the like is not really ideal for us either so that’s why we definitely chose the theater seats.

    We purchased a 2021 Wayfarer RW back in August 2020. Have taken it cross country and all around southwest. We too got the older style door as we like the TV mounted over the door. The only difference I see is that our generator is where your propane is and vice versa. Did you all get the lithium ion battery option? We did and love it. I added a second solar panel for even more charging.

    • @FishTalesusa
      @FishTalesusa  Před 2 lety

      hi Joseph - no we have the regular batteries - we can always swap out for the Lithium later and more solar. I think they moved the generator when the re-did the shower. Do you have a storage location at the very rear on the passenger side? Is the shower a bit of a step to get into? Our shower is at the same level as the floor and there is no storage at the very rear on the passenger side since that's where the shower plumbing is now.

      The bed is pretty great. We added a 2" cooling memory foam topper and mattress pad which really elevated the sleeping experience. You can leave this on along with all sheets and blankets when you fold up the bed. There are plugs on one side but not both sides of the bed. The plugs are on the side closest to the dinette/theater seats. On the bathroom side, you could wrap your plugs around through the bathroom with a short extension cord as an option or run a length across the top of the bed. We really never had a problem. I'd just charge my phone/watch etc on the kitchen counter since there are more plugs and USB there.

So depending of the model you must substract minimum 250 lbs to the value on the sticker if you want the full tank of freshwater. I don’t think that any couples with dog would fit in these values without being illegal and going over the GVWR which is 11030 lbs. my wife and i and our dog are average weight and it is already 450 lbs. the propane 49.2 lbs. solar panel 190w go power is 27 lbs, clothes minimum 60 lbs, kitchen appliances, phone tablet computer, external ladder, table, surge protector, food, bed cushion, a notebook, cleaning stuff, i doubt that everybody with two person and a dog fit legally in 840 lbs ( i requested the dealership yellow sticker) even with little 10 gallons of water and strictly minimum clothes and shoes. For the RW it is max 840 lbs and 740 lbs for the JW with the washer dryer. It was indicated NEW 2023 model but the VIN indicated 2021 25 JW. 740 lbs. strange i didn’t know the JW was existing in 2021. So maybe a 2022 or 2023 VIN model would have different values but i doubt. People should check the yellow sticker before to buy. I would not order one model without knowing if the cargo capacity is enough for my needs.

    I see a lot of conversation about the OCCC here which can be a dealbreaker if you have to remove preferable items like the generator from the coach. No one talked about adding capacity to the suspension. I suspect it's because this gets into the legal GVWR category and no one wants to incriminate themselves but I know folks still do this to compensate for the paltry OCCCs. Anyone venture to comment?

    • @FishTalesusa
      @FishTalesusa  Před 2 měsíci

      It is a genuine concern. The 900# of weight is mostly important in transit where it could impact whether an insurance claim might pay or not. If you and your spouse, your clothing items, dishes and small appliances, food, bedding, pet, weight of tow bar if hauling a toad, etc are going to go over weight than it could be an issue. Carrying water was our biggest concern. We never carried more that 33% in fresh tank because we couldn’t and still be under weight.

    • @FishTalesusa
      @FishTalesusa  Před 2 lety

      As far as pricing goes things are little bit nuts right now. Inventory is extremely low, prices went up about 12% for 2022, and demand is really high. That being said the old ideas of pricing are not going to fit today. When we purchased, typical Sprinter-based motorhomes like the Thor, Forest river, Coachman and the like were getting a 25-30% discount off retail price. The ones we were comparing was the Tiffin Wayfarer, Dynamax (but quickly ruled out because of floor plan), and the Renegade Villagio and Vienna models which in my mind quality-wise were very close to the Tiffin. These brands were seeing no more than about a 22% discount and that includes the very much pricier Winnebago. We liked the Navion, but the price was simply too high.
      That being said, once we nailed down the model and brand - I joined private groups on Facebook and watched owner issues and how they were resolved by the company, and contacted the companies to ask questions. I actually got a call back the next morning from Bob Tiffin when I called and left a message on Tiffin's voicemail. Very impressed.
      Once I figured out what I should be spending with options - ours out the door retailed for $169K - deducted 22% and offered that to the local dealer and a dealer in Portland. We dickered a bit and landed on a slightly higher price, but I was happy and when we drove it off the lot like 6 months later, we probably had $20K in equity because of the price increases and the general crazy that's going on in the RV industry right now. Hope that helps.

    I asked a dealership today and he told me the yellow sticker cargo capacity for the JW (with washer dryer combo and propane option) 740 lbs much much lower than what Matt’s Rv said in his video for nearly the same model (propane + washer dryer) minus the external 32 inch tv (14 lbs only) Matt’s advise 1150 lbs on the sticker. How is it possible. The one which is 740 lbs has a ViN indicating 2021 sprinter Tiffin 3500xd chassis 25 JW. Cargo 740 lbs. 401 lbs difference with Matt. There are no options that could explain the differences. The only option are the lithium instead of the derp cycle batteries where you save 25 lbs. the external tv probably 25 lbs total. Side view camera. Both have same propane, same washer dryer, same color inside, same fridge 12 v compressor which is standard on the JW. Nearly all the same but 401 lbs difference. The solar panel is a Go power it is only 27 lbs and a pwm controller is 1 lbs so this is not that. I would like an explanation by Tiffin about the difference on the sticker for the same model.
    My dealership also gave me the RW cargo 840 lbs and the LW cargo 1050 lbs. so a bit better than the JW. I understand the washer dryer Splendid is maybe 130 lbs like all residential appliance this is what cause the weight to be higher despite having only one sofa Murphy bed

      @@FishTalesusa now i understand better the wayfarer and the cargo capacity. The JW has only 740lbs cargo because it has nearly all the options propane, booster, external tv, including the washer dryer (148 lbs). All wayfarer have low cargo also because they have the diesel generator QD 3200 which weights 203 lbs. so to increase the cargo we have to remove the generator that can be replaced by a second alternator 5500w and replacing the 2 x household battery (100 lbs) is a must, and even the single battery (26 lbs) which is not enough powerful (100 ah) anyway.
      I would replace all of that with a Lithionics 320ah (68 lbs) the Lithionics has a port to connect the second alternator, it has bluetooth and builtin heater to charge even in winter. Then i would add a second solar panel Go Power (27 lbs) and i would upgrade the xantrex 2000w (14,7 lbs) to the xantrex 3000w (16.5 lbs) to run the a/c everywhere. i would also replace the Dometic 15k btu with heat pump by a Truma Aventa (72 lbs) which is much much more efficient and use 4,5 amp at eco mode and heat at 3.5 amp as well. A/c at normal use only 9 amps.
      This would save 130 lbs of additional cargo and give 3 times the power of the initial wayfarer. Also it would allow to recharge the battery in 1,5 h at idle with the coach engine and even faster during driving, quietly without the horrible sound of the generator. By adding a jackery 1000 to charge phone tablet and computer in parallel and the two portable 100w panel it would give fourth way to get power.
      -alternator at idle or driving
      -solar panel
      -shore power
      -external solar powerstation with panels for outdoor
      4096wh instead of 1200wh
      380w + 200w portable solar panels.
      And all this with 130 lbs more cargo than the original coach.
      Tiffin should propose that one day in the future.
      I want to mention also that cargo capacity with Tiffin already include full diesel tank and full LP tank. So the cargo occc is for occupants and their stuff and the water.
