I have the same setup, exact same case. I store my kayak in a unsecured kayak rack at a marina. So far it has withstood being inside the kayak just under a year now. still holding tight and I can check in on it whenever.
most of the year was uncovered - I have a fabric cover now. So even when it likely was blazing hot in the kayak it still stayed glued up there.
Its a really good idea. I leave it inside anything valuable.

I highly recommend it. Great for travel. If you're worried about having your vehicle stolen you can hide one in the car too.
