Ian and Anthony have always been amazing at finding and hiring talented people. Seeing most of the cast and crew in videos and hearing how they do so much behind the scenes really makes me happy. Everyone’s so talented, funny, and brings something special to the channel. I would also LOVE to see more funeral roasts! Chanse needs one!

I think a special shout-out needs to be given to Noah for coming up with the "Rebuttal" revive in the roasts. Ever since he did that, everyone does it now. That was some real innovation that adds SO much to the roast.
Noah’s funeral episode was my favorite, ian’s redacted bit was insane and then noah roasting them all in the end was amazing

@@unlitrash She said she didn’t plan to be in it because it’s easier to direct when you’re not in it. It was in the Anthony painting livestream, I believe.
She was always part of it, she's been the Director from the start, she just didn't want to play a character in it at first because it's easier to direct a thing you're not acting in.

Courtney going from fangirling over Ian and Anthony getting back together to having Anthony fangirl over their direction is so sweet
I think Shayne really hit the nail on the head. During the Defy era, they were working from a place of fear. Fear of failure, of taking risks, of bombing a video. And while Smosh from that time is/was amazing, it’s even more so now. Because they now aren’t creating from a place of fear, but from fun and passion, it really shows. I think that’s why the videos are doing so well now, because you can tell how much fun they are all having(like Sniper Chess and the live streams). Smosh is best when they are having a lot of fun.
I would absolutely love to see Shayne get a new funeral roast. His first one does feel kind of like a prototype - or the pilot of a TV show. Plus you can do it with an entirely different set of people than the first roast.
we need a fake smosh reunion on the main channel but ian and anthony aren't playing themselves and its super exaggerated and over the top

Damien’s funeral is my absolute favorite. It went harder than it really needed to. Tommy’s will reading for all funerals was just phenomenal.
I hope we will get to see Damien, Olivia, Noah, Keith and Spencer at the roast even though they weren't in the promo.

I agree, especially Damien because he is all about spooky vibes. This themed roast is right up his alley, it would be a shame if he didn't make an appearance. I think also adding more of the older cast with more history with Anthony will hold more significance. Either way I have high hopes for this event. Especially with Courtney directing! :)

The trailer for Anthony’s Funeral Roast was SO GOOD that I instantly bought tickets to the live. I hope Courtney knows how absolutely epic that trailer was, and I literally don’t care at all what happens in the live, it’s impossible for Courtney to disappoint me at this point. Buying those tickets was worth it even for the trailer, I’ve watched enough incredible Smosh content (and specifically Courtney made/directed content) for it to be worth it to hand over my money lol. It gave me such a nostalgic excitement that I remember getting for the Wild West Trailer way back in the day. Great work guys! Proud of how much Courtney’s grown :)
I feel the same way. Smosh has been here for us for so long, through thick and thin. I'm listening to or watching something from them every day. It's absolutely worth supporting them with the live shows.

Watching Courtney come into their confidence over the years has been the coolest thing to witness. An absolute creative UNIT.
I love how excited everyone is, especially when Shayne said "Now we don't really have to go to someone for approval". It's really an independent Smosh.
I absolutely love the working environment of Smosh as a professional company which provides ultimate freedom to it’s employees to fully honed their inner crafts at its maximum potential. After Anthony and Ian owning this company and considering their comfort level and friendship with the entire cast is truly remarkable.
Courtney just seems so pure and the kind of person I would love to have in my life, as a friend, family member, co-worker, acquaintance, whatever. She just has an energy that makes me feel good.
I would love for this to be a rebirth of the roasts, maybe on SmoshPit. I feel like Angela, Chanse, and Arasha have all earned their roasts and I’d love to see what the cast could do.

I'm halfway through, and I keep expecting Courtney to burst into tears! There was a good amount of time during Courtney's time at Smosh where she was not the *most* confident in her own improv, but the community has been incredibly supportive regardless. Plus, Courtney getting validation from Anthony for directing his own roast seems like a huge, personal win for her.
Anthony is the Mother of the Smosh. He went away for a while but he came back to Home and now children all grown up and doing all the work. Anthony and Ian are proud parents.

Big props to Anthony for giving Courtney so much positive reinforcement on screen. I’m sure that happens from others off screen but to see and hear it is pretty awesome from a Boss. Courtney is good at what she does from the videos I see that she directs and that promo was incredible! Side note Tommy you won’t see this but the music you made for it really perfected it
The amount of emotional maturity, honesty and communication between the cast is actually carthartic to watch.

Wow, definitely cried in the "Trusting yourself" section - I don't usually for folks I don't actually know, but to hear about the supportive and passionate environment of Smosh, what it all means to each of you, how you're building something each together - that's beautiful to see. As a fan, Smosh has been such a source of laughs when I needed it most - but I'd never want that to be at the cost of anyone. So to hear that the level of creative fulfillment y'all have, that your dreams are coming true together in a sense, and you have the space to dream even bigger is incredible. Proud Smosh fan over here, cheers to Courtney the director, the whole team. Wow. Overwhelmed over here!!!
i really love how passionate and excited everyone is. it seems like anthony coming back rejuvenated smosh as whole. it's really really cool to see. i've loved smosh for years and years, so i'm not saying it wasn't good without him. it's like shayne said about him coming back, "nothing's gonna change, it's just gonna work better"

I've said it before, if someone has never seen Smosh, just watching the roasts alone, the chemistry radiates so much, you can't help but laugh, without context of anyone there. It's really impressive and Courtney absolutely nails it each time
Smosh was the first ever YT video I ever saw in like 2006 or whatever and I didn't watch any of it until I randomly decided to watch the Mythical Chef Josh roast last week. I've been binging Smosh ever since and can't wait for the roast.
i feel another difference from the defy day's for anthony is while he may be working as much or more than he did, he's working on things he loves and the things he wants to. another benefit is having a solid set of cast & crew members who you can rely on to help take the workload off, especially for the projects one isn't fully invested in, and this can lead to some amazing content too from having more brilliantly creative minds working together.
After seeing Patrick in all of the Dropout shows, I'm happy to know that he's also still writing for Smosh. He's a great writer, y'all have found a winning team.

Personally I started Smosh when Anthony came back, and I was a person who only knew what Smosh was because I was on CZcams constantly after like 2004.
I have to say, I think the cast has so much energy and is such a good ensemble that I went from being not a fan to watching every show week over week
Shayne is really entertaining and is explaining the premise of the funerals really well. They seem really brutal (which alot of them are) but that's what makes it funny.
Just Anthony's presence and seeing him interact with smosh again is awesome.

Haven't finished the episode yet but when they were talking about how all the characters/attendees all start with "The" and Amanda mentioned how it feels kinda old school horror it made me think how cool like a set of posters of all these characters individually with their titles underneath would be and maybe even in like a stained glass style for the churchy/Gothic aesthetic (and then the idea of rambo The Chosen in that style made me laugh super hard lol)
I'll never forget how hard I laughed at Courtney's impression of The Chosen. I think it would be hilarious to expand the routine with introducing that the chosen has a sister!
Rewatching this episode and I feel like this episode specifically is when Anthony’s return hit hardest. Courtney talking about their feelings when he was away makes you realize that. Smosh never faltered for me, Ian and everyone did absolutely outstanding during the time he was gone, but Courtney talking about how that felt for them and how his return felt really makes you realize that the heart of Smosh healed a bit when he and Ian made this move❤
Part of me is now anticipating the Smosh cast’s turn with Anthony’s Interview show
