I was an extra for a few episodes in series 2. Those days are still my fondest memories ever working as an SA. There was just a brilliant buzz and energy about the set!

I feel like Leah doesn’t get enough credit for her part as Jenny (even though she has a very central role on the show) simply because she was playing a part that was intentionally unlikeable. That’s not easy to do. We all met a Jenny or two and Leah nailed that part, the show would not have been the same without her. She was also really the Derry Girl that should/could have been and this is further cemented in the episode with the adults and the reunion where we learn that all the mums were friends once. Aisling was much easier to like, everyone loves the underdog and is cheering for her to find her confidence (which I would speculate is what drew her to Jenny - who doesn’t know self-doubt - in the first place). Mind you, the entire cast was so, so great. I’ve watched the show many, many times at this point already and it is such a joy. Every actor was clearly very carefully chosen, everything has intent and purpose. I struggle with the episode where Claire’s dad dies because it strikes very close to home for me, so I sometimes have to sit that one out if I’m not ready for tearing up (can’t watch it and not do that). It was an instant classic and one of my favorite go-to shows. Sorry for the long rant but I struggle with brevity - and I figured this was an opportunity to let you know the joy you have been a part of bringing since I’m probably never going to run into either of you as I’m living in Denmark! 😉 So thanks!

Well done on being an integral part of one of the most brilliant pieces of TV ever.produced. The wonderful wit and comedy of the show under the backdrop of such a troubled but historically rich place with such amazing charm and character was beautifully balanced by the harsh cultural and political; realities facing this young group of people who were on the threshold of being the ones to chose peace over the sectarian differences that became a fabric of the region. Before I start waffling, Jenny Joyce would have to be the antagonist we all love to really despise and Leah did a brilliant job as teacher's pet, brown noser, dibby dobber and self appointed moral leader. And Aisling was wonderful as Leah's muscle. Jenny Joyce was best described by Sister Michael when she said, ' You will go far in life Jenny, but you will not be very well liked!' BTW loved this interview and I loved particularly how I answered the same as Beccy in who would win in a fight between Jenny and Aisling , which Beccy answered 'Jenny because she would fight dirty.!' Hahahaha, she would full on attack anyone who had their back turned on them.! Anyway love the energy here and just like in the classic British TV comic drama series Minder and the recently finished Succession, the reason why they are masterpieces is the synergy between the actor themselves and obviously the entire production team! Hoping to see more material here Bec! :). PS. You 2 sure have blossomed in every single way and the world is your lobster! :))))

That was the last take I did of that shot actually, every other time I was just to exit worriedly after Jenny. But on this last take Lisa Magee told me to leave a beat, look back and smile. I'm glad that's the take they used I think it's super cute. Gives us a little bit more curiosity into Aisling and her individuality.
Aw! We did actually both film for that. Jenny and Aisling both voted yes. Aisling had a new style of glasses too to represent her being older. but sadly didn't make the final cut
