A fantastic video as usual. It seems like games get released while unfinished, and it's been this way for some time.

Remember when games had to be good or they would fail, yeah nowadays we take anything with the words video and game in them, even if said video game is really just a wet sponge of "we didn't have enough time" in disguise. Video games feel so much like how I feel about modern TV, its so diluted and recognized as a product that people also start to realize that sometimes you don't have to care to make it sell you just have to meet a, b, and c.

Honestly it's sad seeing polish get traded for speed especially with the inflammation on some games that should be half price and that would still be too much money.
My tales of games play fun tell a good story and the dlc is just cosmetic
Pokemon is always messy in each gen in some way from glitches balance or actually being fun.

so true, tho, I would've used Sonic Colors Ultimate as a better example, while you are right on Origins, it's mostly a PR Nightmare given how they had a DLC Chart and removed the originals from most storefronts except Switch and Mobile

god forbid little timmy doesn't know how to connect to the internet, though, I think that's like, another thing in particular that should be worth mentioning, like, what about the people who can't connect to the internet, they're left with a broken product (then again, this calls into question as to why they have a game console to begin with but whatever)

Not just Indie but pretty much any Studio that isn't in the talons of the "Hollywood of the gaming industry" (some exceptions ofc). Most AA studios too ofc, like the makers of Scarlet Nexus (definitely gonna go down as one of the most underrated gems of this decade), not to mention recently like Plage Tale: Requiem which the studio became AA after nailing Innocence as an Indie studio. The graphical fidelity Requiem has should make AAA juggernauts embarrassed. Thymesia actually being a decent Souls-Like game which is rare. Just a pin point ontop of the tip of the Indie/AA Iceberg. Also Stray, can't forget Stray.
I think a lot of this metric ton of greed lately comes as a biproduct (or a virus, most likely this one) of being unregulated in the industry. Very much like the internet where there's a lot of great things but also just a lot of some of the most terrible things you can come across. Like the internet, just gotta be wise with your decisions.

It sucks because Nintendo especially doesn’t always do the free updates. Mario party superstars only got 5 maps and lacked a bunch of characters and content at a full price of $60 and they still haven’t given a free update. The new n64 emulator on switch doesn’t allow GC controllers to work (didn’t make a button correspond to z on n64 controller) for those n64 Mario party games and they don’t intend to update it.

Even someone as awesome as Nintendo (they're really the only juggernaut making banger after banger) are gonna be greedy scumbags. It's usually the Nintendo of Japan that often loves to make this stupid at best decisions.

its because of updates man, they first promise so much like game modes and then say its in a "next update". If it's not finished don't release it!

    on the cod topic.
i love mw2 its really damn fun but it blows my mind how basic features that just use to be standard for the series are just not there at all. the core of the gameplay is still good but everything around it seems to just keep getting worse and i hate that they can just get away with it because oh we will update it later and disguise it as a free content update.
i dont believe fortnite started this trend i believe this all started the moment consoles got regular internet access once they discovered that gamers will continue to buy stuff no matter how broken it is and they can just fix it later with a patch is just crappy. this is why i rarely buy stuff on day one i am not gonna pay top dollar to be a beta tester i will wait till they get in a stable state and then ill drop my money on it and by that point it will be discounted.

While I disagree with advent of live service games like Fortnite or Starwars Battleground by EA; I think the truth of the matter is both more despicable and more miserable than anyone will realize. The gaming industry has become unsustainable and it can't survive on the old medium of things anymore. While I agree games like Fortnite and Battle Royales have changed the scope of games, it's also changed the market and the battleground for which games have to compete for the all mighty dollar or in other cases, all mighty Yen, English Pound, gold, basically money. A company has to survive by having cash pump into the company to pay workers so they can continue to gain more money which I'm sorry to say, unless your a stock holder, no company is a friend of the people or a friend of the fans, Sega might be as close as 'friendly' gets and though they still req. cold hard cash; their attitude towards their fans is a different story.
I'm getting off track, gaming has exploded since the last crash and slowly gained momentum to where it's now viable to earn a job as a gamer playing games or developer with college degrees dependent on the idea. Because of this, there are now more in-home-name brands of gaming companies and all of them are competing for the all mighty dollar on multiple levels. Epic Games has to compete with Gog and Steam as Steam has been around for years and Gog allows users to practically OWN the games they purchase. Nintendo has to fight Sony and make amends or a partnership with Microsoft as they too are now fighting SONY; Nintendo getting some rights to Characters like Banjo Kazooie and other games in this partnership while Sony continues to be a d*ck to the customer and developers with anti-consumer practices such as the PS5 CMOS bomb and to the developers with the literal hell of getting your game approved to publish on any Playstation console.
I can probably set this whole scene a lot better explaining it like this. When Zelda developers made Breath of the Wild, they set the trend and a LOT of others in the industry are now trying to FOLLOW that BotW Trend like Genshin Impact, Elden Ring, etc. These two games now having to follow that trend have to get their games out RIGHT THE FUCK NOW to get any money from folks enjoying Breath of the Wild.
TL:DR; In short, the AAA industry is now a literal run away truck running on burning piles of money; once and IF or WHEN this catches up TO them, the only folks standing above the ashes will be the indies and their passion projects. There will still be a Nintendo, Microsoft and others around, though when this mess hits; it will hurt them pretty badly though Microsoft might wear the storm better than Nintendo and it's Nintendo I'm giving an evil eye too after I set Sony on fire. Content from their IP's like Metroid, Luigi's Mansion, Pokemon and others seem to have dropped significantly. Zelda Ocarina of time had about 8 main dungeons +sub dungeons to get certain quest items or equipment. Breath of the wild has 5 main dungeons plus the Shrines where combat feels like a test instead of a literal fight.
Luigi's mansion had the elemental spirits for puzzle solving, They we're cut out in Luigi's Mansion 2 for the Darklight which was an interesting idea to replace the spirits with, though it cut back on the puzzle solving and your interaction with the world. The 3rd, they give you Gooigi and plunger with a rope, both which do interact with the world, but not as much as the first game where Gooigi is affected by the world and the plunger rope affecting only stuff you want to move out of the way along with the chainsaw, candle and other stuff you have to pick up with the Poltergust when in earlier versions, you didn't need the pick-ups to interact and experiment with t he game world.

I dunno about that one... Bubsy 3D came out in 1996, alongside Mario 64, Quake, Duke Nukem 3D, Pokemon Red & Blue, Crash Bandicoot, Shadows of the Empire and Super Mario RPG. Bubsy being unfinished is an outlier compared to nowadays, where finished copies of games just straight up aren't included on discs or switch carts
