    You can make a layer mask on the groups so you don't have to erase on each layer. Just create a mask on the whole group.

    Creating and stroking a paths, and using a mask on each group would have made this much simpler.

    One thing that would have made this even better is if you got a bright glow effect of each of the lines, group them, leave them on a 75-100 opacity, and then leave the regular lines at 30-50 % opacity.
