And then there was a guy who picked up an early piece for $1 at a yard sale in Pennsylvania on the way to the Zippo Swap Meet in the mid 90's. He sold it at the meet for $5k. The National Enquirer did a piece on it. I know it did indeed happen cause i was right there.
Just got a 53 steel case. Used your video as a guide to help date it. It's not super rare or anything but I'm happy to have a steel case zippo
Great vid, dated my Zippo to 1952.
It has US serviceman's name and number on one side, and a dedication from his girlfriend on the other.
Oh wow that’s cool !! Great find buds. Glad to help. New channel by the way
GREAT video. Yes, the variations in case and insert can seem overwhelming until you learn them like anything else. And then there's the progression in art work and techniques found on Zippos which adds to the Zippo's absolutely iconic historical status. So much to love about these simple fire making tools.
@@ZippoFanatic77 Had a feeling there was gonna be some great followups 👍👍
I’ve finally found someone that likes Zippo’s as much as me lol hell yeah 🤟🏻
I actually love that you pronounce the L in solder. I do too
Hahahaha thanks
I got a postwar ‘48 chrome finished Zippo coming in and it’ll be my very first one. My thoughts was, if I’m getting such an iconic American lighter, I should be getting one that’s made it through all those years. Thanks a lot for all your videos, learned a lot!
Thank you for posting the date codes. I didn't know what the A and the IX meant. I do remember buying my Zippo in early 1993.
Bought a brass for my wife, sounds so much better then my Chrome. The ping is magic on the brass
Good video
Slick intro!
Thanks for the info
Anytime Patrick. New channel though
Great video man. This very subject is what I emailed you about last week. But im not sure you got the emails
Awesome. I found a '52 and a '92 at my local antique mall. $5 each. I was unsure of the date of the older of the two, and you definitely made the process of dating it a whole lot simpler than the websites out there. The '52 is in pretty rough shape, but I guess that's to be expected with these models in particular? Again, great video. Clear and concise. Unlike this comment.
@@ZippoFanatic77 I just subscribed and I will be checking out your other content. I have a quick question. Should the insert in a '52 have a solid flint wheel rivet? Mine is steel with a solid rivet. Is it original to the case?
@@ZippoFanatic77 I checked them out in the store, and went home. I went back before they closed today and snatched them up. The '92 was made just 2 months before I was born, so that's also pretty cool for purely sentimental reasons. The insert on the '52 is really worn down from being taken out hundreds of times. Haha I like that in the older ones. I feel like they had the life that was intended for a Zippo. When I'm 70 years old I know I won't look that good.
@@ZippoFanatic77 The writing is vertical.
I have zippo IV. Good condiction
Just found old one, but it has all the markings but letter U instead of those A-L. What does it mean?
Y tengo otros cuatro de la naval EEUU, 1965 y 1969, con la historia de los barco impresa
Hey man I had a question if you have the time, I just picked up a zippo and it has the pat in the middle like a 58 but the is only 3 dots on left and four on the right like a 56, what’s confusing is you can see the dots clearly and it doesn’t appear to have 4 on both sides like a 58, what’s you opinion, thanks
If it’s the middle can only be a 58. The slims this year also have different dots printed on them. It’s pretty common to get 4 and 4 dots and 3 and 4 dots for 1958.
Remember it took me forever to find out that mine was exactly a 57 ,where were you with this one years ago?? Lol
Historic !
I have a J II and J XII what year r these two????
The flat bottom 65th Slim is cool but i think they should have done it with an engraved prototype design from the actual time period out of Zippo design archives. One that has never been released previously. That would be beyond awesome.
If they did a solid 14k Rose Gold '41 replica with patent # instead of "replica" on it, of about 51 grams for $3,500, and not some ridiculous gold price, they would likely sell them hand over fist. And it could be done for that price. They should consult me before they do anything. Really.
I have a working 1946 to 1952 Zippo with Holley Carburetor Co. Nu-Way Auto Electric Co.Milwaukee 4. Wisconsin Stamped on the side of the lighter with The lettering in Red. Pat. 2032695 and the original zippo logo on the bottom. The insert is also stamped with a matching pat. number. Both appear to be silver. It has a 5 barrel hinge with a 16 hole chimney. It opens and closes as it should in good working order and lights every time. Can you tell me what the value of this lighter is?
U mean nickel silver which isn’t real silver. All depends on the condition buds. I’d have to see them first
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors Wait it took you 8 months to respond to your comments. lol
@@cherokeeoutlawmartiel5340 I lost this channel last year and had to start a new one. So sometimes I scroll the comments and respond to them.
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors oh ok it happens. how can i how you the lighter? What is the best way?
@@cherokeeoutlawmartiel5340 i don’t contact people privately anymore because doing that got me hacked and lost my channel. Best bet would for u to make a video and upload it on CZcams.
I have a 1956 zippo, how much do you think its worth?
Where do the camel lighters come from? Not zippo. It’s got a strange flip top with a chimney. Very inexpensive and easy to find on eBay. I think you could buy them with “ camel bucks” .
i want a 1970s and down zippo
See my in comments.
U' know what 3 straight up lines on both sides the diagonal 111name111 Not Like dots... but
Hi I was wondering if anyone can help me, I have a zippo that dates 1932 on the left and 1991 on the right. What does this mean? Thanks
Is it the commemorative one
Brass bold letter ZIPPO 1X on bottom only
I have a Zippo lighter that only says "silver 950" on the bottom and pagoto and mountains engraved on face side mountain and boat with sail on the back
The patent number on the insert is 251719 R
I didn't send photos unless you want them.
I hope you can help me identify this lighter
Hey buds. Sounds like it’s not a zippo but a flip top lighter. Probably Italian
Brass Bold letter ZIPPO L 1X nothing else on bottom of lighter
I cont find the 14
Why would I have an antique zippo, from the 40s, with the patent # on it, but also it has k viii in Roman numerals, I know they made replicas but this one is not a replica. It's legit? Maybe when it was sent in to be serviced?
How can I identify my Canadian zippo
I’d have to see it buds. I could tell u all about as it’s my expertise
H ZIPPO VIII
Camel Logo
Chupappi
