  • Is healthy eating just hype? Science says most of it is. There is a lot of unhealthy food masquerading as healthy. This happens because of the misconceptions about what is considered as healthy. To clear some of such myths or misconceptions, we've brought you this episode in which we debunked the myths about food that are commonly considered as healthy without any scientific backing or evidence.
Understand whether Jaggery is better than sugar, if brown sugar or honey is better than white sugar, what's better between fruit juices and fruits, the misconceptions around diabetes and sugar, nonveg, turmeric, boiling milk, eating only fresh food, detox, and much more.

No it does not. Some foods lose nutritional value when you expose them to heat: whether that is a conventional oven or a fire or boiling water or microwave oven. In fact, of all these, microwave is the one that gets the job done the fastest, so is often better than the other methods:

I wouldn’t believe. Jaggery have properties.
Not talking about good looking honey which is processed by farmers because customers want it that way not dark but light colour and soft so end user can practically use it.
Not their fault as it won’t fit in our modern kitchen.
A real reduced cane juice will be dark and hard and yes it may make milk curdle. It has distinguish flavour try a mishti doi or rasgulla instead of regular one. It has medicsinal properties in case of cough keep a lump of jaggery it soothes throat or thorn or injury gur is used to treat them externally. Gur brings satiety level for sugar eaters quickly where as sugar eaters will eat more sweets because it doesn’t have any after taste.
In winters gur is preferred for its hot prakriti in tea. Sharkar Pongal in south gur or fresh cane juice is used. Natural cane comes with a lot of fiber in ideal world to get 5 teaspoon of sugars you would have to extract Atleast half of sugar cane juice reduced. Nature didn’t knew we will develop juicers to extract juice quick by developing this cocaine called sugar.
About minerals, our daily dose of jaggery provide less iron or magnesium etc but we are talking about regular consumption of it instead of sugar for fit individuals. SO is sea salt or Himalayan salt we don’t consume a lot but regular or daily intakes keep things in balance. That’s why they are recommended Chana and gur are great energy sources. So weighing them as equally evil is no good. Gur is better option. If your lifestyle is such with no physical workout any form of access sugar buy for field workers farmers sugar is ok. Sweets made from gur are better.🙏

The "real" jaggery you're talking about is not easily available, right? And if someone is selling that, we can't be sure it is really authentic. And, as far as I can tell, the benefits seem to be marginal, while the core fact: that it gives you a dose of glucose/sugar remains. -@Navin
