Beinn Chabhair is the most westerly of the seven Trossachs Munros and a relatively central one which gives superb all around views. Located just north of Loch Lomond, near to Beinglas Farm Campsite and the Drovers Inn, this is a really accessible climb which does not disappoint.
I contacted the Drovers Inn and arranged to park my car there for the day before setting off. One point to note is that if you are doing it this way then you will need to wait for the Beinglas Farm Campsite gates to open which is between 07:00 and 23:00 daily.
The climb starts straight away for around forty five minutes of work before levelling out and then climbing again for the last hour or so.
Number 12 of 282 for myself and another awesome day on the hills which I recommend. Let me know if you have, or are planning to climb this Munro and share your experiences.
Until next time, take care and I'll see you on the hills...

Apologies to anyone who has already viewed this. The original had been uploaded by accident prior to having the spelling of Beinglas Farm corrected 😖 #rookie 😂
I saw your question +esper outdoors about parking at Drovers Inn and my answer is to check basically. I read somewhere that they charged £5.00 for the day so I emailed them to see how I would book / pay etc and they replied that they were fine with me just parking there. So, I'd say just email them and see what they say, just tip your hat but I'm sure they would have no issues.

    Great vid.
I did this last weekend (01/09/23) and enjoyed it although it is a long grassy walk in after a VERY steep start which is a bit wearing.
It was good hot weather so the bog factor was ok but I would expect it to be very boggy after heavy rain.
The climb and ridge walk after the lochan was excellent with great views and the walk was worth it just for that.
You can drive over the rickety bridge btw and park at the campsite for free (rather than at the Drovers) but are expected to buy something from the shop.
I bought something but they don't check - although people should not take advantage and should buy something imo.

Hi DrawingNo1, apologies for the late reply as I have been so busy this year (hence the lack of uploads) but I'm glad you liked this video. It's taken me back to remembering the day and how good it was.
The pull at the start is sharp but it soon levels off to become bog (and humid if it's sunny like I had) before that great walk through the type of pass and along the edge to give great views back.
Yeah, I think the campsite is under new management now but, as you say, I think too that it's good practice to support local businesses where possible (and if they're welcoming).
I hope you get out through the winter and hopefully I'll be back out again soon in the winter conditions.

Cheers David, this was a cracking day out in the end... muggy, but cracking. It's re-watching videos like this that keep the bug alive for me through times like just now when I am booked out with other things (ie. work 🥱).
Hopefully I'll be back out some time soon.

This is great to hear but gutted you didn't get the views. Did you get any wildlife or grouse sightings?
I'm glad you got something from the vlog and rest assured I'll keep going, I've got 270 to go 😰
Thanks for watching and keep hitting the hills 👍🏼

@@AScotsmanOutdoors We didnt see any wildlife. It was a right dreich day to be fair, views most of the way up but at the summit the cloud pulled in. Luckily that fence was a good guide all the way to the summit. Going to try Ben Vorlich next and then possibly Mayar and Dreish. Best wildlife we saw was stags on Lochnagar - if you havent tried that one, i'd highly recommend it. Up the traditional way, then down the waterfall valley to the Loch. I think you can do 5 in one day there. All the best!

@@Millzsr I think we've all had dreich days on Scotland's hill and anyone who says otherwise is a dreamer 😂
I've not done Lochnagar yet but I'll definitely take your advice and try that route.
The fence posts on Ben Chonzie seem to be a fairly well used marker in poor weather and why not, they're there and pretty much landing lights to the summit.
Let me know how you get on with Ben Vorlich. I'm off for a chilled day bushcrafting and trying something new in day soon and of course I'll need to record it 😂
Take care and keep making those memories 👍🏼

When did you do this ?
When we went a couple of years ago, that bridge was closed and we walked a long distance and doubled back to start hike. Abandoned it as it was very wet and boggy. Planning to do this next summer. Thanks for the video

    • @AScotsmanOutdoors
      @AScotsmanOutdoors  Před 2 lety

Hi Na Ma, I climbed this at the start of August this year. I think the bridge is a contentious part of this climb because it does control the easiest access to the start and if you don't know the times (07:00 - 23:00) then it could catch you out for an early start or late finish.
All the best for the climb when you do get around to bagging it. My next outing in this region will be uploaded on Sunday (17 October). I hope this helps you too.
Thanks for watching, and commenting, and I'll see you on another hill.
