  • In this video I talk about why the NB Miata was the answer for me, do you own a Miata? Let me know which gen you have or did you buy something else? Do you like the name Miata or MX-5 more?

    Still drive 1999 Mazda Miata. I love it. All stock. It’s beautiful just the way it is. It was my dream car and she still is.

      They are great as is, they are also fun as a blank canvas for any type of build. Mine is built for canyons and occasionally a track day. Roll bar, high temp brake fluid, track/street pad, quality coilovers that are not punishing, lightweight wheels, good set of tires, sporty exhaust but not obnoxious and that’s about it.

      @mnal5gex Agreed, I love it for so many reasons and that is definitely one of many. I also really enjoy the Miata car community as they like to drive and not just sit and talk like some other car clubs I have been in.

    Everyone that has ever owned a Miata has essentially always said the same thing, no it's not fast, but it is one of their greatest experiences behind the wheel. People generally look back on it as an experience that transcends commuting. Like driving one is life altering for the soul, and they almost always regret selling it.

      I think after 6 years of driving one, time for something new, but it’s not my daily driver and everytime I drive it it’s like, damn, what a fun car to drive! Hard to find something that gives so much fun for the money! New ones are getting pricey these days. 😕

      @@CruiseControl1 Just a fast hothatch, because it’s just more practical then a MX-5. But I don’t know, maybe I just have to wait for the MX-5 NE. Curious about what they are going to do with it. GR86 was on my list but it’s already sold out.

    This video almost perfectly sums up how I feel about the NB Miata.
    I just recently bought one and it really is a special car. Everything about it, the fact that they are affordable both for parts and the car itself, the amount of information available for DIY, and overall just the community around the Miata is just amazing. I plan to keep mine forever and possibly buy more down the road. I’m trying to learn anything I can on how to repair/upgrade these spirited little beasts.
    Thanks for the video it was very well done and I hope it inspires more people to learn about these wonderful gems of history!

      Thank you for sharing. I agree that the Miata community is 2nd to none in the car world. I love how this community joins up for drives and not just kick tires and talk.
      For me the most important thing when buying a car is how it makes you feel when you "Just Drive."

    I wish we had more small fun convertible options in the USA. I have kids. Need 4 seats. Bought an 01 VW Cabrio I adore. I’d buy an NB if it made sense. I also have owned a 92 VW GTI 16v since 99 with coilovers and love it. Fun family car is manual 15 Scion XB.

    We have a green MX5 from 2000, two tone interior and wooden steering wheel. Every time we get in the car and start to drive it, it's a road trip 🙂 Our other 2 cars are Honda's 1,8. Greetings from Belgium,

    The 2022 BRZ is my first RWD sportscar. Though I’m not looking to sell it the question is what is a logical next step? The answer for me likely is not anything new, it is probably a step back to an NB/NC Miata, MR2 Spyder or something similar. Something that has the remaining 20% driving connection that modern cars strip away with electric steering, stability control, torque vectoring, etc.

    • @CruiseControl1
      @CruiseControl1  Před rokem +3

      I could not agree with you more. I went from a beautiful Neptune Blue GR86 to this NB Miata and the biggest thing I noticed is road feel with the hydraulic steering. Not to mention shedding 500lbs of weight makes the car feel more nimble. Enjoy your BRZ as it's an amazing machine, I would say add a Miata so you can choose each day which experience you want to have. Remember Just Drive. Thank you for watching and commenting.

      @@CruiseControl1 I need to do some drive homework and see if I fit better in the NB or NC. Weight is a key item. I've even begun exploring 2012 Mazda 2s for that reason, though that would be more of a daily runabout.

    • @CruiseControl1
      @CruiseControl1  Před rokem +2

      I have driven the Mazda 2 and for a daily it's great! As for the NC vs NB there is no wrong choice. I fit better in the NC and the retractable hardtop is enticing. I chose this NB because it's lighter, had the roll bar, came with a new top, price and how it was to drive. Best of luck in your search and let me know what you decide.

    I also a have an EV for a daily. It’s great for commuting and has gobs of torque and power, but for a fun day out of DRIVING nothing beats my NB Miata. I prefer NA’s, but decent ones have gotten a little pricey. You can still get a nice, clean NB for pocket change.

    • @CruiseControl1
      @CruiseControl1  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Absolutely an ev is fantastic for daily driving duty. I have driven every generation of Miata and while all are great in their own right I prefer the NB for me. The NC weighs a bit too much and some of the character seems missing. The ND is light again but the steering has next to no feel. The NA is great of course but I find the NB to have most of the character of the NA while having a little more power, chassis improvements and a little more modern interior.
