What a pleasure to watch good work with clear explanation. We had new bathroom granite countertops installed. The mirror had to be taken off. Now, we’ll be repairing the wall behind the mirror and then putting it back. Thank you... 👍
I removed particle board shelves that were glued to the back wall of the laundry closet. I couldn't avoid damaging the drywall due to the glue. You gave me good advice to first cover the tears with Guardz. Thanks
Thank you so much for this. I am finishing a bedroom and had to remove old paneling witch was lightly glued down. When I took it down it torn some of the sheetrock. I guess I would use this gardz stuff.
Hi Rocky, yes the grass is perfect for locking down the brown drywall paper.👍🏻 Let me know how it goes. Thanks so much for watching and subscribing!😎 -Paul
Got a large room that had plywood panels , that I removed. It left areas of torn drywall. Didn’t know about preparing the torn sections. After this, I have a wall of mirrors that needs to come down
I'm trying a DIY project over a painted bathroom wall with flaking paint. I was going to call a painter to do it but I think I'm going to try it after watching your channel. I'm a little unsure about whether or not I can do it.
Hey there John! Always happy to support your channel my friend! Along with you getting a Shoutout on my channel, I also added you to my Featured channel section on my main Channel page. You could add my Channel to your Featured section too. 😉
What kind of projects we're working on? Here's one for you; bathroom wall (behind toilet) has a big dip in the middle. Did a little scraping & found about 2 vertical feet was replaced with 5/8" drywall. The rest is 1/2". Thinking (dreading) I'm gonna have to pull it all & replace because there's other patches where towel rods got pulled loose. Any other suggestions? The area is about 4" wide & 6" tall (window above & tiled shower beside).
I have 70s plaster walls that were painted at least twice. Plaster finish is rough finish. Can you skim coat plaster and how would you approach this project?
Ok the black mastic is tar and will bleed threw the paint that's why you have to clean with thinner and then lightly Sand The brown spots and use zinzer cover stain and lightly Sand again and vacuum up the mess before you start mudding
Hi Mike, I haven't had the black mirror glue bleed thorough after painting. Once I scrape the black mastic, I sealed the areas with Gardz problem surface sealer. Then, I do a first coat of joint compound. After that dried, I did two skim coats for a nice smooth finish Prime and paint. No bleed through... Take care, -Paul
Paul ty for this great video. We took down sheet mirrors in our master bathroom, our walls are textured tho, can I do this same technique? Do you have any videos of doing this on textured walls perhaps? Thank you so much!
Great video on a common problem area we all will encounter. I bought a house where they have painted and textured over wallpaper. You can see where the joints of the wallpaper are starting to curl up. Should I try to remove the paper that has been painted and textured over? If I get into removing it I am afraid that the damage from the tear off my initiate having to rip out all the dry wall and start from scratch.
Very Informative, A while back we had a small water leak in the attic, and water got between the paint and the sheet rock, made a crazy bubble, almost like a balloon. I took a sharp knife and slit the bottom so the water would drain out. The paint remained like a blister, so I cut it back to where it is dry, the walls have dried and show no sign of issues. The house was built in 1980, so there is a lot of paint on these walls. Do I make sure the paint is scraped back to where it holds, and then put that wall primer / sealer on the sheet rock, and skim coat the effected area back flush? TIA- Jeffrey
Thanks for this great video. What did folks do before GARDZ?? I live in an uber rural area. NO one has it in stock... Days before it can reach me... Someone recommended elmers glue on the brown paper ??
Paul, 2 questions! Should I use Gardz on plaster after removing wall paper? And, is it even possible to repair a plaster ceiling after removing a drop ceiling?
Thank you for responding to my inquiry Paul! I know you must be a busy man. So I really appreciate you taking the time to get back to me. I still have one follow up question. I was wondering if you by any chance have (or plan to have) any videos showing the right steps to take to repair a plaster ceiling after removing a drop ceiling? I could really use a tutorial on that specific situation. If you could help me with that, I'd be really thankful! I really like the way you explain things, show what you're doing, and how you're doing it. I've learned a lot from these videos! Please keep up the good work!
Sounds simple enough… Demo all drywall, remove all fasteners, dispose of drywall at the dump, go pick up new drywall, load in van, unload van and maneuver through home, now we’re ready too finally hang, install drywall, 1st coat, let dry, 2nd coat, let dry, 3rd coat, let dry. Skim coat for smooth finish. Ps. In my estimate I gave them both options repair and skim coat or remove and install new drywall. The customer opted for the Repair And skim coat since the dollar amount was significantly more to tear out and install stall all new drywall.👍🏻

I have similar project to do. How much time did this take to complete from cleaning to finished painted wall?
How do you add orange peel texture back to the drywall after removing a mirror and repairing the wall?

That is a heck of a wall that had a mirror! These customers must a bouwmp chicka wow wow!
Haha... 😂
Question What are the next steps after skim coating? Do I need to sand? Is there a primer you recommend? Thanks!
OMG, lots of work to fix this!
Would it be a good idea to cut out that damaged dry wall and replace with a new piece of plaster board/dry wall?

Can I use KILTZ instead of the GARDZ? I'm on a tight budget.

I pulled wood panel off the walls. It was glued and nailed to the sheetrock. The glue is hard. Any tips to remove the old glue from the sheetrock?
Go U do it!! Go Paul! Go CZcams!!!!
And Go Doing it With Jason!💥✌
What are guards?

Yes, use Gardz on the plaster after removing wallpaper.👍 You should be able to repair that plaster ceiling for sure! I hope this helps, -Paul

Dang that was a good and informative video...
I appreciate that Manuel! 👍 Thank you so much for watching and subscribing! -Paul
Hi, great video. Where are you located?
Pink door and all mirror walls, rest of the home must be interesting.
What would be the cost on something like this
Are you working alone ? Do you have a krew ?
I did this drywall project by myself Farouk.👍 Take care, -Paul
Drywall is not that expensive. just rip all the drywall off and apply new dry wall and putty
