    Valuable content! For MSPs, selecting the right tools is essential. Our success formula blends strong backup and BDR strategy, elite security, an all-encompassing RMM, and Thirdlane Multi Tenant PBX for communications. This tech stack has elevated our service delivery to the next level.

    How can I restore VM from s3 compatibile ecs storage? Let's say I have location A, we lost it so we want to restore VM to location B(different Vcenter).I have my VMs backup in ECS that is located in different, safe location.
    How do I make my ECS storage visible in "backups" section, so I can choose VM from there to restore?

    Do I understand it correctly that Veeam backup must be installed on the Windows Sever? The question is can it be installed on the virtual machine on ESXi host where other virtual machines exist, or should be installed on a separate server that is in the same sub-net?

    • @ArjenNap
      @ArjenNap Před 2 lety

      you can install it on a vm with a windows OS (preferable Server OS) on the ESXi host

    • @sysadmin-info
      @sysadmin-info Před 2 lety +1

      @@ArjenNapI see. Is there any option to use only Linux and not using Windows at all? If I could I would like to use Linux only.

      @@sysadmin-info not yet, this might come in the future. If you are full linux-based then you'd be using Proxmox with Proxmox Backup Server anyway

    • @sysadmin-info
      @sysadmin-info Před 2 lety

      @@stephendetomasi1701 I do not use Proxmox, but much more expensive servers.

      @@sysadmin-info Something that may be interesting for you: the next version is going to allow Postgre SQL for Veeam database hosting, not only MS SQL. So you will be able to cut on some Windows MS licenses :). No Linux version of Backup Server software yet, sadly.

    Hey there!
    Great video, however I have a question.
    Do you recommend running on Windows Server or regular Windows?

    • @VirtualDenis
      @VirtualDenis  Před 2 lety

      You will be fine with any of the "supported" operating systems listed here:
      helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/system_requirements.html?ver=110
      Which means:
      Microsoft Windows Server 20222
      Microsoft Windows Server 2019
      Microsoft Windows Server 2016
      Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2
      Microsoft Windows Server 2012
      Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
      Microsoft Windows 11 (version 21H22)
      Microsoft Windows 10 (from version 1803 to version 21H12, and 21H23)
      Microsoft Windows 8.1
      Microsoft Windows 7 SP1
      It's really whatever you go for. The server does have some extra features which could be "nice" on backup server. You may want to use Storage Spaces direct for example.
      However if nothing comes to your head that's missing in Client version, then you will be fine.

    Would you have this procedure with Veeam version 11?
    Another thing!
    I was wondering how do I turn an expired NFR version into a Community Edition.

    • @DeonGaming
      @DeonGaming Před 2 lety +1

      Hello, look at the timestamp 7:52. It is a version 11.
      As for NFR, to switch any licensed edition to community edition, you can simply remove the license.

      Hi my dear!
      I hope all is well with you.
      Could you please do me a favor?
      Could you list me or point me to documentation with Veeam Backup Community limitations?
      I saw one about NAS and I found all these VUL licenses very confusing. It seems that from a NAS I could only backup 500GB. That's right???
