      Good point, but it is easy to get sucked into the intense health industry right now. So be skeptical of purchases that are costly but “for your health” whereas they most likely provide minimal benefit. I simplified my nutritional supplement purchases a lot to a few core supplements that can be found affordably.

    Another good tip is not buying the latest gadgets. Why spend $1000 on the latest phone when you can buy a phone for $200 that does the exact same thing? That's an extra $800 that can be used towards investing, or put into a savings/retirement account

      I never buy the latest phone, I'll do with mine until it dies, then buy an older model because they're still amazing (and a lot better than my old phone that i used for years by default. I'm not envious of people who have the latest Samsung galaxy or Iphone, I'd just be scared to drop it x'D or have it stolen. No one wants my Samsung Galaxy S10 edge!!!

    • @Gayfrogs

      $200 for a phone if you just use it to call and text. Phones nowadays are pocket sized computers. No need for a TV when you can watch everything right on your phone. Watch a movie, take a call, check email, scroll on social media-all on one device-its beautiful.
      So I can understand spending an upwards of $1500 for the camera, processing power, battery, ease of use, security features, screen resolution/durability, cool features etc.
      The problem is people who spend that kind of money on a phone every year when there are no justifiable upgrades from the previous generation.

    Wow, these are truly some minimalist ideas! But I like that you're playing into the psychology of things, and I LOVE that you're recommending ditching the financial advisors! Buy into the S&P and don't touch it until you're ready to retire is probably the easiest way to be profitable. Thanks Nate!

    Love the advice as it pertains to investing too.
    1. Wait 1-3+ days after researching before getting into a project->if you want it now, you're probably the exit liquidity of early buyers
    2. Not making decisions when fatigued/emotional->wait until you're feeling gooood to make great decisions
    3. Say no to "meh" or "kind of good" opportunties->go for the best ones that you're excited about-this will allow you to focus your energy/resources

    Agree on the car for cities, however for people that would need to turn a 10 minute car ride into a 30 minute bike ride, opportunity cost, and cost of time starts to become an issue. None the less, a great list Nate!

      @AB-ny7zm Pƙed 2 lety

      Agree... not to mention riding your bike when it's freezing cold outside, really warm, very windy, raining or snowing (if it's a long distance). Or there could also be some days when you are really tired and you are not really up for a 30 minute bike ride. If you can choose between car or bike, I think using your bike is a good idea to keep in mind for some specific days, but not necessarily as a daily means of transport.
