The issue with dark continent is not the monsters there, from what we understand usually the creatures loving there can range from weak wield mutations that most nen users will be able to kill to monsters like meruem and nanaki. The main issue with the dark continent is how it functions with all his viruses and fungus that can change the body and mind of people, and there's a lot of different ones in there.

They have a non physical representation of sorrow that makes you eat your own body and with every bite you fall into a deeper state of depression. So really, most human characters are probably not surviving that long unless they have a crap ton of power and resistance to hacks. Also, if Alluka is from the dark continent then, to survive, characters would need some resistance to fate or causality.

At one point, the author literally had to nerf Ichigo because he was just that ridiculously overpowered. He's still cracked. Assuming everything on the dark continent is twice as strong as Meruem, Ichigo still eats all of them for breakfast, and as he's a Shinigami, he's unaffected by diseases/poisons in it not to mention you have to have spiritual potential to even SEE him. The Dark Continent creatures aren’t strong as an individual, they just have deadly unorthodox abilities that make them an extinction level threat. Netero left because he realized that there was no good fight to be had. The one thing I disagree with is that I think Kaneki should last longer than a month, probably around a year. He has a bunch of nonsensical unorthodox abilities that would make him fit right in and give him a better chance.

We know little besides there being five voyages and each time they brought a world ending threat back(which are known as the five calamities) We’ve also seen art of a few mountain sized creatures but ehh. We haven’t seen much of it(especially considering that it alone is 600x the size of Earth in the real world)we just know that Netero described it as being lacking of individually powerful foes, but it rather was a long battle against nature where the only reward was survival

Netero didn't leave because there was nothing that could give him a good fight, he left cause he could give nothing a good fight. They aren't some weak hyperspecialised things they are uber powerful creatures who developed unblockable weapons for the sake of survival. This is just wrong, meruem and the chimera ants were a weak threat in comparison to the denizens of the dark continent, that has been confirmed.
Netero didn't leave because there was nothing that could give him a good fight, he left cause he could give nothing a good fight. Man left because he would get clapped not cause he was doing the clapping and that was with Zigg who was his equal.
Then there are the powers of the denizens of the dark continent which you also massively misunderstand. They aren't some weak hyperspecialised things they are uber powerful creatures who developed unblockable weapons for the sake of survival. Nobody itachi or below on this list are defeating a single dark continent creature and most will die before they can escape. Remember meruem at his base was tanking neteros attacks to no damage.

The beings are rated for their ability to cause casualties or extinction, mainly through unorthodox abilities such as Pap or Zobae(If you honestly think that a sickness like Zobae is physically comparable to Meruem, or a snake that literally just bites people and turns them homicidal, then you don’t know a thing about the lore), the Chimera Ants were rated low because all they had was strength and they were easier to handle via things such as the Miniature Rose.
Netero’s *canon* reason for leaving was that there was no individual being that could challenge him, there was no fight for him besides a never ending fight with nature to survive. He didn’t want that. He left in order to find an individual with strength to challenge him.
Also we know nothing about Zigg, and since the story already makes it clear that Netero couldn’t find a good opponent, that means that Zigg logically isn’t an equal and that the Dark Continent as a whole didn’t have anyone.
He wanted a *strong* opponent, not a literal disease that can infect you and turn you into an immortal zombie that eats itself.
There are beings on the Dark Continent that could kill him or Meruem, but power is not a factor.
It’s closer to the Succession War in style where power means nothing because everything has some weird niche ability that makes them deadly.
As for what you said about the denizens of the Dark Continent: This is just factually wrong. This is literally never stated in the entire series. There are no “ultimate weapons” created by the denizens either.
The residents of the Dark Continent are the Gate Guardians, a bunch of Magical Beasts that send a calamity back with the humans every time they enter.
News flash: If the Dark Continent had a single Meruem level entity in *raw power*, then humans wouldn’t even be able to contain them. Why would Brion not have escaped?
