More than likely when you extracted the base valve the piston is tight and it may loosen the nut as you remove the cartridge. Happened to me several times on new bikes. They use no peen or thread lock.
Plus one for the Murph. Relive that misery.
Those older KTM 08-11 air cages distort over time. There was an aluminum replacement.

@@highlandcycles Will have to check that out next time I do seals. Will save just a bit over the standard SKF!
Morgan, do you have good luck with the KTM OEM fork seal kits? I only get about 1/3 the amount of hours I do from the kit, compared to the SKF green seals.
