  • This is it, the head-to-head we’ve all be waiting for!! How does the first two-liner EN-C compare to a PGWC Racing setup?
Air Designs VOLT 4 Vs an UP GURU with full comp setup.
Well, really there is no competition but it’s fun to fly together and see. Me and my brother take to the skies and fly around a bit in Tenerife. And while I was working the bar hard, and he was just cruising around, the Volt 4 doesn't fall too far behind.

Ifonce - nice. Look forward to seeing your SIV on this (if you decide to post it on YT) as I'm wondering about a 2-liner after I've used up my Alpina 4 - but that's a couple of years away anyway .

What were you flying before the volt4?
How many hours do you have under paragliders?
Curious because of the mixed opinions the paragluding world is full of.
My personal opinion is the Volt4 is mega. Love mine, wish they were out a long time ago.

Hey, yeah. So far, so good. Three good thermic days flying including a local comp. But feeling like I'm dialling into it well so far. I was flying Triple Seven Rook 3 before and it's not to different, all be it, more sporty, more feedback, faster and slightly less nimble. But all of that is as expected with a bigger aspect ratio and the higher EN rating. Brakes surprised me how long they were, but with a bit more of a wrap than I have been flying with previously I soon got used to that.. and it encourages weight shift, which is no bad thing. Big big difference is of course the things you can do on the rear risers - that is a game changer. Opens up a whole new set of ways to fettle the wing in flight, well to me anyway. Going to really enjoy learning and experimenting.
Otherwise it feels like a lovely, well made wing. Light, nice GH and pull up. Feels solid in the air. (Though I'll wait until I've SIVed it before reaching a conclusion on that). So all good, apart from that stupid Air Pack bag that comes with it. That's the worst thing I've seen since the invention of sliced bread!

And they say workload on a CCC is more.... Caveats attached :)

Long brakes aren't they? Looks so sweet!

Yeah, they do feel long. Certainly first few flights. I thought about shortening them a bit, but took a bit more of a wrap than usual and now I’m a bit more dialled in to the wing, so have got used to them.

Early days, but so far so good. A nice amount of feedback, breaks are a bit long and take getting used to, and needs good weight shift, but carves nicely and the rear risers are a game changer. Feels very connected to the wing and makes speed bar a pure joy!
