The tarot is giving me Light Seer's Tarot vibes. I wish these were sold separately, as I'm just not feeling the whole set.

Hmm, I found the artwork in the tarot deck hit a weird "uncanny valley" where the figures (human and animal) were often JUST wrong enough to be an absolute no. I'd be interested in the shadow work deck for use with clients but the rest of it? Nah, and it doesn't make sense to me as a set.
I really like the tarot deck. I can do without the others and the price tag is over anything I'd ever pay for cards. Pretty and cool idea. It's great for those who can afford it and are called to it.

i understand why people are excited about this, the idea is amazing.
biggest problems is the fact i can only get it as a bundle - for a price (with shipping and customs to EU) is gigantic.
tarot feels very light seer's which i am very fond of and would chose over any other deck of this style. (unfolding path has had the same fate lol) i am not that big on animals, plus no keywords on the oracle also a deal-breaker.
the shadow work deck is super interesting. i might have checked it out, but getting all for using 1 out of 3...
maybe sometime in the future they'll get sold separately.
however it's already funded, so I'm glad everyone who wants it, gets it❤
The card that represents the emperor in the tarot deck was numbered with a “3”, so it went 3, 3, 5. It also looks like Strength is numbered 14. 😬

So after seeing you go through all 3 of these, I’m super excited for this collection. I hope the cards that were numbered with typos gets corrected though. But I was SOOO in my feels with that shadow work deck. I literally teared up at some of them and I think she did a fantastic job of illustrating the feelings of the keywords on them.
The typos will be corrected! :) Jillian addressed that in the comments on the Kickstarter I believe! :) It's such a lovely set!

My personal opinions and conclusions after watching this:
Tarot - Beautiful art, Choices of many of the keywords/ renaming just don't resonate with me.
Oracle - Love love the art, but animal oracles rarely call to me.
Shadow - Intriging but for myself the black and white lines will cause havoc on my eyesight lol.
I had been trying to decide, and this has helped me to realize, although I love some of the images, ultimately it's not a good fit for me.
I will still back this without a reward, as I feel this should be available to others.

Due to the massive cost to ship to the UK, I really wasn't sure, even though I really wanted it, but having watched this, I know it's a no-brainer. I've ordered it and I'm so excited! Thanks for the great video, Lisa! 💜

It would help to have a keyword on the minor and the oracle cards. Lovely art work and would prefer just being able to purchase the tarot separate. It does appear you get a lot for the price though! Also, as a therapist I would have liked to see a full range of emotions in the shadow work deck as ALL emotions are neutral rather than positive or negative, shadow or light. Shadow work can involve working on feeling joy, happiness, loved, stagnate, complacent, uninspired, inspired, shy, self-conscious, elated, relieved etc.

I loved your post and thought your ideas raised some good questions and concerns, so I am responding here for what I hope others find useful.
I agree with you about all emotions and parts not being either good or bad. When we speak about the shadow, as you know, we are talking about the feelings and parts of us that we either suppress or ignore because we either dislike these parts or feelings or we are unconscious of how they present themselves. For reassurance, nowhere in this book are feelings or parts referred to negatively; that is the point of this work. It embraces the divine darkness, allowing space for the feelings and parts we generally do not. The book works through multiple practices with the goal of reaching a greater level of self-awareness and building the capacity to hold space for our feelings. I am an Internal Family Systems-informed practitioner; the book was inspired by IFS - all parts and feelings hold great intentions and are welcomed in my world and encouraged in the book. The theme of this work is to support self-awareness and compassionate care for all our parts and feelings.
Keywords were deliberately left off the cards to honor our sacred connection with each familiar. The messages they have for each person are uniquely connected to our experience with them; what might hold true for one person may not hold true for someone else. As the overarching theme of this work is about strengthening relational connections with others and ouselves, the work is not meant to tell you what these cards should mean. Rather, it's about fostering trust within and outside ourselves by embracing our instincts and intuition. I understand that this might mean more learning for some. It is also a personal experience I don’t want to take away from anyone. There are multiple practices within the companion book to help support our connection with the familiars. The guidebook covers keywords and messages that may or may not connect with common animal wisdom, it has also been written from a relational perspective.
The reason why the cards feature common animal titles is that many individuals are not familiar with certain animal species, research went into making this choice.

Thanks for the review Lisa. I just backed it. My main focus is the tarot deck because I don’t like animal decks - I’m a tree person - and I have some really good shadow decks, but something tells me the other decks may surprise me in ways I can’t even imagine right now. Time will tell.
Feels very light seers like and I don’t like that they’ve renamed the major arcana, I kinda wish deck makers didn’t do this because takes away from the original meaning. But everyone has their own preferences and it’s ok to like when they’re renamed. For me it just throws me off idk why 😂
Do you think you will ever do a shadow work series on how you go about it? I would love to see a different perspective on it as everything I've seen discussed on the subject focus on the psychology and not the spiritual aspects.

This interesting. I do agree with others its a lot like light seers…. I almost thought it was for a second and many of the cards look alike. It’s still pretty but I appreciate a more original take on it.

Question about the 5 of Somatics: do you think the web without the spider indicates abandonment? I struggle with 5 of Pentacles for some reason. I do appreciate the missing spider to be honest. They scare me so terribly!

I think you could definitely read it that way if you want to! :) I think that working with the web is a great way to work with spider energy, especially if like us you're a little squeamish about them! :) For me, the five of pentacles is often about feeling alone, but not being actually alone - help, companionship, warmth, help is nearby... you just have to look for it! :)
I believe the "Peacock" is actually a crane.
I believe Jillian is aware of and working on quite a few edits from this sample that will be corrected in the final version!
It reminds me of the Unfolding Path or the Tarot of Oneness, which funnily enough I also love looking at but just isn’t for me. This is so pretty and I can see it being popular, but definitely not for me.
I would use the blank books as journals I hope the typos will be fixed and I`m thinking about backing this.
Yep lots of edits still to be made! :) This was just a printer proof so there's lots of little things to correct before it goes to print. :)
That is NOT a Peacock!!! It is a Crowned Crane!! If that's not fixed then that's a deal breaker for me. I'm a total animals person and that would absolutely RUIN my usage of the decks. And some of the proportions of some of the animals are just weird and not right..

It bothered me a bit that the most prominent of the sharks is actually a whaleshark, one of my favorite animals after orcas, but the familiar is a great white, which was only in the background. Whalesharks are really interesting animals and I was hoping it was the familiar.

This deck actually looks more interesting now that I see all the cards. But I just pulled the trigger on Ritual Tarot today so will have to pass.

This was one that sparked my interest right away. Even before I knew the creator or the details. Then I looked into it and there were several early birds left. I struggled with the decision to back on Kickstarter because of the understandable high price point for the three deck set.
I already backed several other decks so it wouldn’t be the only splurge for the month. Kickstarter always seems to hit me in waves of things I cannot say no to. Star Seeker Oracle deck to join my beloved varied blue edged tarot deck. That’s happening. Victorian Faery Tarot with the book by the artist who has worked with Tori Amos and helped shape beloved images. Yep, that’s mine. I’ve been wanting Tarot of the Cosmic Seed and I love the second edition changes. The Viola Lux Umbra Tarot is enchanting. The Threads of Fate puzzletale is not tarot but it is being backed nonetheless.
But… The Familiars Way is so well done.
I do have four boys and it is Mothers Day. My birthday isn’t until September so that is my excuse for now.

I'm with you! I get hit with the 'waves' of Kickstarters too! I think I backed like four things this month myself - it's like nothing, nothing, nothing... EVERYTHING.... it seems!! :) What a sweet way to celebrate being a mama than to get yourself a set of decks that can help you do intimate self-work! Love that!
@@Lisa_Papez It’s been a tsunami of temptation. Hopefully we have a good long dry spell because I have some exciting things coming in this summer and I have spent enough cash. But if I use these to do the always needed and ever evolving inner work then the positive impact will ripple through the entire family. So it is really a gift for all of us. I hope you have a wonderful time with all of your new treasures!
What a beautiful deck! Wish I had some spare money to spend on this wonderful Indie deck, but it is to expansive for my wallet...😔 Maybe it will be mass market some day if the goddess allows...
