@@jmariehill2224 Hi, and thanks for checking out the channel. I don't understand the issue you're having, but you might want to consider reformatting your hard drive. Here's info on how that works: www.wikihow.com/Format-a-Hard-Drive
@@jmariehill2224- Its because your external hdd is read only. connect your hard disk to computer Open a Command prompt by clicking Start, typing command, and clicking Command Prompt. Starting with the iPhone 15 (Pro?), you can now plug an external hard drive right in! Apple consistently markets their latest offerings in way that convinces people to upgrade.
I bought all the items in your list and tested them at home and everything was working. Yesterday, I flew to Vietnam to start a week of touring and this morning I set everything up again to do one more test and all was well. I left it until after breakfast and when I came back the USB 3.0 Hub was cycling off and on at about a 2 second interval. I tried plugging it in in different outlets but nothing changed. It just keeps cycling on and off over and over. Have you ever run into this problem? Looks like I am going to be stuck here in Vietnam without a way to copy off my videos to the SSD and will quickly fill my iPhone internal storage. Best, Roland
Hi Roland, sorry to hear that. When I've traveled abroad, I've had laptops or other tech get ruined also. I'm assuming that sometimes, the voltage in other countries is different and can fry electronics sometimes.
Doesn’t the transfer process just make copies of the photo’s to the external drive. It won’t free up phone memory unless you delete the photo’s from the iPhone after the transfer, right?
Most people aren't thrilled to pay a monthly subscription for more iCloud space... that's one of the biggest reasons to offload your photos to a hard drive.
Yeah, unfortunately there's no way to physically, directly connect an external hard drive to iPhones that use the lightning port. But with the new USB-C phones, this is probably resolved!
Don't make the wrong purchase! In the description above, I've provided (affiliate) links to all of the products that I tested myself.
Good video on how to see the hard drive. How then do you transfer your photos to it?

great video but apple's slogan should be "Create a problem, then sell the solution"
they are so complicated

Yes, that's correct. You need to delete your photos from your device (AND from the Recently Deleted album.)
@@jeremiascyou didn’t even show how todo the transfer process …. Smh 🤦🏻♂️

Won’t iCloud erase the deleted photos from its own storage the next time it syncs ?

It's BIGGER than my house!
You're referring to the hard drive space?
Sorry, dislike for the clickbait to add a "solution" (product) to my problem

Only one USB was connected to the HUB.....seems like you should have shown more than one hooked up and the transfer process. No thumbs up from me.
