My suggestion is to get a hemi engine preferably the mopar heliphant 1000 HP power plant ! So much adaptability with the mopar out of the box kit and potential drivetrain selections will make an amazing Mopar resto mod vehicle. Amazing barn find! 15:04

Oh yeah, a Hellcat Superbird sounds POWERFUL!
Unless you have connections, ALL of the Heliphants are long gone. Last one I looked at was over $60k.
The Superbird has a few features that none of the other MOPAR cars of the era had. The rear window is bubbled out not in like the Satilite, Belvadere, of Road Runner had.
The lower control arms are off a D100 truck for more length. The wing has braces that go into the trunk and connects to the rear subframe unibody.
The front clip on this car alone is worth $15-20K. The rest of the car, whatever the going rate for mild steel at the scrap yard brings.
By the time you invest in a unibody restoration, purchasing a rust free Arizona car would be a better fit IMO.
Can't go wrong with a Hemi when it comes to the Superbird.
Why spend the cash on a heliphant for only 1k hp when I hellcat w/ bolt ons can make the same?

Definitely a basic 1969 B-body with the Superbird nose and wing added. All Superbirds were hardtops but this car has the B-pillar and pop-out quarter windows. The taillights and rear panel are 1969 items. The VIN will give more details on what this vehicle was on day one, but what really matters is what you want it to be. No matter what you do with it, no purists will criticize you. It will be a great tribute car.

It’s a great project car a bit of work to literally make it a good classic bird/Daytona but if you got the time and money definitely worth it!
the car does not have the correct rear windshield, no vinyl top. the top front fenders do not have the rear facing scoops. I doubt this is a VIN code Superbird. still a great car to build. have fun with it !

Hmmm I don't know about that hard to say best. It's all subjective. I'm a jdm and euro boy. Nothing from America really excites me. She loves American cars as you can tell. Imo the superbird is just another American heap.

Emelia this is amazing! My two cents..... Definitely have the Outside look like race replica, hands down, best idea!! But Resto-mod.. fully updated interior, with creature comforts.. Either a compound turbo Hellcat engine or an updated Tech Hemi with twin screw Supercharger... And obviously that exhaust needs a roar.
Wow! What a find. You’re so fortunate to be the first call. I would love to see an original 426 hemi put in this car keep it old school. That would look so sweet! But it depends how much money do you wanna put into this car? I’m sure you will do what’s right congratulations.
1st clue was no chrome plates on the A pillars. 2nd clue was no scoops on the fenders. VIN would have either a U / V / R as the Super Bird only came with 440, 440-6 or Hemi. You could have bought a decent Satellite with floors, etc., and bought repo front cone and spoiler. You’ll have a fortune in this.
The fact is is a 69 sedan and not a 70 hard top is evident a mile away. But she said it wasn't real. I think buying it for basically the wing and the nose was worth it. Well, and the fenders.
The whole back clip is different from a 69 and a 70. I have had both. Also, a Superbird has a small convex rear window. There is enough stuff out there to convert a 70 Satellite to a 70 Superbird, but starting with a 69 sedan puts you two steps back.

Its not a real Superbird though and is WAY rusted out. I'm a Mopar fan boy and would love to find a cheap Superbee or Superbird, but this one I gotta say, Good luck Emelia.
After you replace 75% of the steel, a Helliphant crate motor is my vote for powerplant. It's such a blank canvass, you can make it into anything you want. I'm interested in this build and can't wait to see how it finishes out.
To professionally restore the body alone on that would probably cost close to 100k, I bet she's just going to let it sit around a while then sell it.
It’s not that bad with rust, replacing the floorboards of old cars is standard operating procedure with old cars from the Midwest. The trunk isn’t gone and body panels seem solid except for usual rusted spots. It would probably make more sense to get an old Plymouth in good shape and convert it to a Superbird.
@raybod1775 Thats how I feel, get a car in better shape and convert, which is exactly what someone was doing since it's not a Superbee/Superbird originally. It would be a different story if it was a rare Superbee/Superbird.

We all know you're going to restomod it. Since it is not a real Superbird I say go for it. Hellephant with a six speed manual. Just needs the little bumps on top of the front fenders and the quarter panel scoops on the sides. The tail lights and rear window are going to be dead give aways that it isn't real but it will still be a fun car.
What gives it away is the rear window. As much as I love that compound curve, it's just out of place on a Superbird (or Daytona). They had a more traditional backlight and a plug. I think you're better off just making it a nice Satellite resto-mod and selling off the nose and wing. Keep up the good work.

Okay, I don't want to come off as a MOPAR fanatic, but you need to get a 1970 Plymouth Satellite or Roadrunner to make this build worthwhile. While it is a cool possibility, using the 68 or 69 shell just wouldn't be the same. Also, let me know if you need help locating one, or any parts you may need because I've got a few things tucked away myself.😉
Yeah, I just don't understand the excitement of finding some random Mopar product that's had a wing and nose bolted on. Might as well be a 64 Volare. I wouldn't waste a penny without al least finging th right year body, and even then you've got the rear window situation to deal with.

@@dlshadyno the rear window issue is only with the Daytona, the Satellite or roadrunner never had the flying buttress C pillars. The back glass was flat to begin with.

Wow, great find. I could see the exterior as a great superbird in a light blue and a white roof and wing. Make it look stock outside and in the interior. Monster the engine though..... what a perfect find. I would sit there too with a beer and look at it as well.
That was fun! Thank you for sharing that! My dad and I had a real cool barn find when I was in my early 20's. We got a 1959 GMC pickup and we fixed that thing and spent good quality time together on it. We fixed all the rust, repainted it, replaced the chrome, gave it a flame paint job, took out the old straight six and put in a healthy 327 with Edelbrock intake and carburator, got rid of the 3 on the tree manual shifter and put in a turbo 400 automatic trans with a narrowed Ford 9" rear. We later put a Ford mustang ll front steering and suspension on it. It was a really cool truck and a great way to spend time with my dad!

I just finished doing the rust on my old Mustang and it is always worst then what it looks ! What you see is only the tip of the iceberg ! I got it in the early spring and just finished removing all of the rust... Now rebuild time ! I dont even think I would do that again ! And the cables and wires where almost all shot... Have fun !

Iconic car. It is very sought after by enthusiasts and collectors worldwide. If it was real, it is 1 of ~ 1920 made in 1970.
Do a Hellcat build for sure!!! What a cool restomod that would be. SRT Suspension with an old school interior. On the surface it looks like it came from the 70's and underneath it has all the modern drive train of the Hellcat beast!!! What a cool project!!!
My neighbor Frank worked at a Dealership. He would drive home some incredible cars. One was an orange Roadrunner about 1970. I remember seeing the car up close, but so long ago, got brain fog. I was into Stock Cars at a younger age, but moved interest into Dragsters, Funny Cars, then Trans Am series, and Can Am. Only competed at SCCA auto-cross.
Keep it era correct and throw a Blown 426 Hemi with 727 torque flight behind it. Sweet ride Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
That car has a lot of potential at first glance and I already know you are going to evolve it into the 21st century and keeping some of it original. New suspension breaks tires to start off with at this point I’m looking forward to seeing what you guys come up as a power plant under the hood

The pre-production Superbird test car, when Chrysler was first developing the wing car for Plymouth, had a wing and front nose mounted on a 1969 Road Runner. They even took photos when they were building the car. Really cool vintage photos to see online.
If this is one if those, then it is worth its weight in gold...If not, then she paid a king's ransom for a turd!
I would LOVE to see a collaboration with Nick’s Garage from Canada and make this more of a tribute car for those who appreciate the classics, and by all means get the suspension up to snuff!’

This is the first one that she's working on that really has my interest. And the fact that it is in that bad of shape is going to make for an exciting (re)build. Most of the stuff she does is mods. This is going to be a resto/mod. Fun times ahead.

I grew up around Plymouth fury's and dodge aspens. But our best and my favorite was a 1965 dodge pickup with a slant 6 not fast but it was reliable we flipped the odometer 3 times before it was falling apart body wise. It was our work truck we had a junkyard. Just found your channel and I'm excited to watch your stuff even the Ford stuff. Lol just teasing

This is an interesting switch for a CZcams channel. So many keep striving to get that next impossible car, while you have ventured into the kitcar / clone scene. This will fit in nicely with the Daytona and GT. Maybe rent them out as movie cars.

Not sure if alot of you noticed but this is a roadrunner body, they didn't make a Daytona in a roadrunner package, it was only for the charger, they built the superbird out of the gtx and satellite, this one could be a satellite, needs some sheetmetal but I can just imagine wat this baby will turn into in Amelia's possession, love it, always loved the grx and roadrunners in particular
I think that the vents that you are referring to are in the front fenders over the wheels. The rear quarters had special features to support the wings to the frame. Great video Emelia!
The rear quarters also had a vent or ducts of some kind. They were in front of the rear wheels and just below the door handle line.
@@hazyblue69 yes, the typical duct for the roadrunner. The swirling dust trail of the cartoon would have started from there leading forward to the Roadrunner.
The ducts came on 70's two doors but are missing because the car in the video is a 69.

Definitely a Plymouth Satellite the angled tail lights and the line on the quarter panel gives that away does Super Bee and the Daytona both have flat tail light panels. But still a cool find and going to be a badass build

I used to see hundreds of those plymouth superbirds on the roads when i was a teenager and lots more in the wrecking yards...who would have thought they would be coveted. I bought a 64-1/2' Mustang for $325. and a 66' Volkwagen Beetle 1300 for $225. both in 1980.
I am definately looking forward to0 seeing this build its one of my favorite cars anything 70 or older in a Plymouth or Dodge gets my blood going lol. I had a 73 340 Barracuda and a couple Roadrunners so I am looking forward to this one. I was hit in a 63 Chrysler Saratoga I was almost finished restoring only had a couple more peices left and paint and it would have been complete . But I got hit early in the morning on my way home from work and it was totaled. Put me out of work for 3 years back then.
I Have worked on a lot of Mopars. I think if that was mine I would do a complete restore as a kit Superbird with a 426 hemi. It would still be worth a lot of money Mopars are ridiculously priced nowadays.
All these cars are just big, loud and handle so lazy. So much more fun in a smaller car that can go as fast or faster.
That car was 200mph+ on the track in 1970! That's Still fast today! 😋

If possible, put in a Hellcat motor with a manual 5-,6-speed transmission. If not, maybe a 440 with the best Mopar transmission of the time. That would be a killer build to see once it's done!! And yes, Mopar orange ought to be the color of the car, or whatever color suits you Emilia!!
First thing you need to do is STOP CALLING IT A SUPERBIRD!!! It’s just a satellite. Superturd is much more fitting.
Bevedere. That means "Beautiful View" in Italian, by the way.
Roadrunner not Satellite
That's an awesome find. And being a replica any idea is a good one. You should do an old school build on that, keep a little of the patina, 440 six pack with a shaker hood, old-school 4 speed. Hemi's are cool and all, but you just can't beat a good old big block, IMO.
Not even a replica/clone/re-creation. It's a 69 Satellite with a wing and nose. The tail is all wrong for starters.
440 six pack was Dodge, 440 six barrel is Plymouth. Superbirds were 1970 only like @trumbley22 says it's a 69 Satellite. She got taken again with so called Superturd, Hope she didn't overpay for this one like the shitboxes Dean sold her.

Seems to be a 69 Plymouth Belvedere. Still awesome. Love to see the old school car builds. Definitely a resto mod. Hellcat a must and new frame with 4 link etc.
Yes, I think she does not yet know the entire rear clip is different between 69 and 70.

Based on the rear window shape @4:04 , looks to be a '69 GTX or Roadrunner.
I think she should put the new yellow block they came out with(same as in the Demon170).
@@MrRcw79 That shape is shared with 68-70 Coronet, Belvedere. RR. GTX, and Satellite. The only one that doesn't have it is the 70 Superbird. I identified her car as 69 Belvedere coupe (post two door).
Its a 69 but you actually could swap on 70 quarters, tail panel, trunk etc and make it a 70. I didn't figure you'd find a real 70 superbird... but as an old school mopar guy, looking forward to the build and don't LS swap it!
Or put a Ford engine in it.
I think it is good project car but throwing out the whole rear clip to make it a 70 is a bad idea. Hey, maybe she will leave it as a 69. Most people under 35 only know these cars from the mutts in Fast and Furious movies, so they would never know the difference.
@@auteurfiddler8706 The floor, frame, etc is all the same. It needs full quarters, then the tail panel is the only other structural/weld in part needed. And they said it had been hit in the rear. makes perfect sense to me. Trunk lid and tail lights and it's a 70. Although to make it a real superbird clone it needs the rear window plug also. Leaving it a 69 and making it a superbird is a far worse idea in my opinion.

To me this is a classic pile of rust. I would pick the couple parts and get rid of the rest. It went from super bird to super terd (Satellite).
Besides me, you are the only sane person here. She will be upside down missing with that and it will tarnish the name "superbird" because it will be a fake clone with all the wrong parts, wrong year, and wrong model. There are WAY better clones she could have bought. This one is junk.
I agree that this car makes for a terrible Superbird. But I think it would make for an interesting 69 Road Runner or better yet a 69 GTX (change to a hard top). The body is way better than most in terms of rust other than the floors and there is no sign of it being bent. I don't think it is junk at all.
She really needs another parts car or two to make two good cars.
I would be in search of another car to put the wing and nose on and ditch the rest. We will be watching to see what happens.

Just the replacement floor pans, assuming the VIN's right to tell you what it is, will cost a fortune. But, if you have a dumpster full of money it can be brought back but, it will always ever be a clone and never worth what a super bird is. Looks like a Joe Dirt mobile. I've got a real Super bird I've owned since '72 I bought out of a junk yard. It had been run into something and the front clip was roached. I was told the frame was bent but hanger gauges told me it wasn't, so I replaced the front clip new from mopar. It has 54,000 miles on the clock, 440 6 pack, 4 speed and my daughter will get it when I'm gone because she is absolutely in love with it and has been since I got it when she was 4 years old. It's sublime green.
gotta have a 426 hemi or larger one or the really built 440 with (400 block with 440 crank). 4 or 5 speed. big exhaust with big balance tube and a 280 duration cam. she would be so sweet. who cares if clone. great find. This is the kind you make nice as a daily driver. a/c and everything.
I don't think Graveyard Carz ever done a wing car with a Hellephant (426 CI supercharged crate engine, 1000hp from Mopar). So, a Superbird (don't forget the vinyl top) with a Hellephant would be nice, even next year SEMA nice ;), if you know what I mean. Maybe you could work with Graveyard Carz to get there, that would be even more unique. Great video Emelia!👍
Graveyard Carz should stayed all original. Once they went with the trend of modifying cars and junking them up making fake cars clones I think he is ruining his show.

Now he is just like everyone else making restomods putting hellcat engines in stuff and even building fake superbirds. I see nothing wrong with any of that but I just don't think he should be the one doing it. It dilutes his brand. He admits he likes them 100% original which tells me he sold out and will build anything for a buck just like everyone else.
I think you need to turn around and run from this still It's going to cost you about the same as one that's not rusted up by the time you finish it.

I agree, that's what the guy that sold it to her did. He punted it once he realized its going to cost way more than it will ever be worth. Who even knows what a 69 Satebird is worth. It's one of one but in no way desirable or valuable.

Mopars 101. 69' Daytona is based off the 2nd gen Charger. 70' Superbird based off Road Runner. You can make whatever you want ...but the front clip is worth more than the car. Pretty cool! Good luck...
I say build it right, make it an exact replica of the real deal. Put in the 440 six pack with all the bells and whistles and definitely paint it that awesome orange. Even a "clone" of a Superbird is a super bird in my book. Have fun with it. I'll be watching.

@mosconi0359. How could she possibly make an exact replica out of it, when it's a different car? The Superbird was a one year only 1970 car. Her car is a 1969 Plymouth Satellite and looks completely different.
That Superbird needs a Hellephant motor in it for sure! Yes, it looks like a satellite body, and hopefully, you didn't overpay like you did on the Camaro.

Emilia, as a teenager, when I was 16, I bought a new, Dodge Coronet Super-Bee. It came standard with a 383 cubic inch engine, rated at 335 horsepower. One day, while driving my Super-Bee, I saw a brand new Superbird on a dealer's lot. I stopped into the dealer to ask him what the price of it was, and he said that it costed $10,000. I thought that the price was insane, so I walked out of the dealership, I mean, my Dodge Coronet Super-Bee only cost me $3000, so I couldn't understand why the Superbird would cost that much.
As for your recently purchased Superbird, you need to restore it to it''s original form. That mean's installing a 440 cubic inch, magnum engine, or the powerhouse, the 426 cubic inch, Hemi engine. Those were the powerhouses of that era.
