Granz was one of the most freakish Espada when it came to his ability. Creepy but deadly for sure considering he toyed around with Renji and Uryu

Szayel and Yyfoldrt was human once but I guessing Yyfoldrt was protecting his younger brother from others and care for him. But his origin is sad, crazy and tough as a human/espada.

I didn't know about these novels but I always wondered about Syazalaporro grantz and his backstory with his brother. Hope they release more to give more insight to other characters like Zommari or Yammy and his dog. This also explains how and why he teamed up with Grimmjow and confirming the Cannibal theory to becoming VL.

What I got from the translation was Szayel could already see hollows when he was alive as well as he remained an arrancar after splitting his soul he was just wounded greatly and would need a lot of time to recover? In the manga his resurreccion is more in the line of rape, his rebirth from Nemu is (graphic) actually first impregnating her, then he comes out stealing her "life-force" making her look like bulimic and sucked dry. And his strength before the split with his brother explains why Nnoitorra was allied with him. I wondered why they aligned themselves, despite nr5's attitude towards weaker arrancar being useless. In some places I read, it seems to be a really long time, like years, but in the anime, it felt like maybe a year or two at most. Aizen had been preparing the espada and building Las neches in hueco mundo long before he left soul society the time between the arrancar arc and when he made his defect known is only a few months technically the espada were mostly formed by the time of the soul society arc
