I have the slx dc and my dad has the currado dc. They are both amazing reels and we have never got a backlash using them. We both have said that the slx is better only because it’s cheaper, there is not much difference between the two, but still the 2 best baitcasters either of us have had. We will never buy any other reel apart from shimano. Hope this helps
I set all my reels, including the Curado DC to where the bait falls to the ground in about 1 second while holding the rod at a 45 degree angle. I use my thumb on my DC just so when I swap back and forth between traditional and DC just like you were saying. Traded baby sitting for 2 days, and paying for a massage day for my wife and mother in law to get an all day fishing trip Friday, even if I don't get anything.. worth it.
Well said. My sentiment exactly! I've got all the mgl's which are beyond awesome. I too bought the Curado DC 1st then the SLX DC. I love the Curado but the SLX is such a close second I've bought 3 more and put the extra 40 bucks toward good braid to spool them with. Im curious about the metanium DC but my lakes froze yesterday so I probably won't have an opinion till April. Love the videos. Congrats on the recent growth. I'll certainly be tuning in.
@@Jrizy. the Metanium DC and Scorpion DC have the iDC5 technology while the Curado DC and SLX DC have the older iDC4. If money is not an issue, I would highly recommend the Metanium DC.
Haven’t tried the SLX but my Curado DC is sick! I was always a firm believer that the higher price tags were just a marketing tactic when I was younger but boy was I wrong. That Curado DC is BUTTER! 👍🤜
I’ve got a metanium dc, curado dc, and a slx dc and ya the metanium has a little bit more features but I think that sweet spot is the curado. Nicer fit and finish than the slx but better price than the metanium. Crazy thing I’ve caught more on my slx than the others so all work well.
The SLX DC has been flawless for me since it's release. I could only see myself buying an alderbaran since my favorite fishing technique is finesse since the early 90s.
I bought one of the SLX DC's after seeing you use them. I love it but I agree with you on the Curado ! Both super reels but Curado does seem to cast a little smoother and longer. I’m sure you know but I use to set mine up the traditional way by letting it fall without the over run, but then I set it up just so that’s there’s no play in the spool you can cast so much farther on the dc reels

I have both and I love both! I love my Curado DC for cranking shallow square bills and the SLX DC for Spinnerbait, and jig skipping. Either way it’s a shimano so you can’t go wrong! 💪🏻

I've used all brands and landed on Shimano; im here to stay... I love the Curado DCs (own two); I don't own an SLX DC yet; at least not until I somehow purchase another Dobyns rod... Of course, I'd have hell to pay if I bring a 12th Shimano In the house. Oh, almost forgot; "when is that 6th Sense Frog going to drop???"
1st slx dc , no hum , blows up adjusted it like all my other reels brakes didn't work carried it back . Got a SLX XT love it stopped at wheeler damn on way home caught a 25+ drum 2nd cast SLX did the job , next reel will be a curado dc
I own both. In hand they feel very comparable. On the water I can easily get 10 plus yards more casting distance from the curado dc plus it's a little smoother. My next DC will be a scorpion I want to test the difference between the dc4 and dc5 braking.
Great review! I had the SLX DC, I now have a Curado DC. I like The Curado more and agree with the Curado feels more rugged. The SLX is extremely good looking! But I would chose the Curado DC 9/10 tinest

I have 2 SLX DC reels, I think people misunderstand the DC technology. It was designed to be easy to use, set it and forget it even when you change lure weights. I use my thumb also because I dont use much brakes or tension and the reel doesnt know when the lure is in the 2nd half of the cast and starts to slow down but your spool is still spinning. Light feathering on the spool in the 2nd half of the cast and stop it when the lure hits the water.
Just got my curado dc in the mail today. Hoping to get out this weekend to try it out. It should make a nice compliment to my two slx dc reels and my tranx.

I thought I was the only one who wasn't listening to the manual about the tension knob. And yeah I have a curado dc and was actually looking to get a slx dc for frogging. Since I need the extra distance but cheaper than curado dc. Ty man
I got my first baitcaster this year, a slx dc. I love it! I was having a bit of trouble with my braid digging into itself, maybe I didn’t spool it on right not sure but I changed from 20# to 50# just recently after reading online for troubleshooting that problem and I haven’t had a problem yet! Love moving forward from spinning to baitcasters and plan on getting that Shimano tranx I think it was that you showed for swimbaits.
Low weight braid will dig into itself really bad due to how thin it is. I started with 20lb flouro to learn baitcasting, now I run 12lb flouro, 15lb flouro tactical and 50lb braid on my setups.
I have both and I think the Curado DC was the smoother of the two. Micromodular gears in the Curado may help this. I think the fit and finish are also nicer on the Curado. Great Video Brother!
I own 12 SLX DCs and 1 Curado DC. All have been used very hard over the last year and a half. I have yet to do any maintenance on any of them and I use the same manufacturer of line ranging from 16 to 20lb test and the SLX DCs feel smoother to this day than the Curado DC, guess that's why I won 12 of them.
The reason I picked the curado dc was easy decision got it for 210 out the door or wait couple of weeks and give that much for slx dc after tax made it real easy
i have a curado dc and slx dc and i set mine as the book said and gain a lot of casting distance over how i set a traditional reel run setting 2 on braid and mono setting 3 for flouracarbon

For you salmon and steelhead anglers, have you found a big difference between the 2 reels? I’m looking for ruggedness, good drag, and versatility (float fishing, throwing hardware and drift fishing).
Did same thing. Bought the curado dc then slx dc. Loved the curado dc and figured I try the slx dc. But I bought another SLX DC because i liked it as much as curado but 50 bucks cheaper. And on point if about thumbing the reel. Thumbing is controlling distance. Also it comes natural if you throw casting reels often. If you want to chuck a bait as far as you can and don’t want to use a thumb go to a spinner reel. On point about the drag on SLX high gear one I just baught I left in my hot ass car and drag got messed up but I worked it out and seems good so far. My curado did not do that. I’m with you bro. Both dope reels. But my Lews Mach crush for heavy rod is where it’s at. Shimano for crankbait rod. Shimano for medium fast rod. Shimano for medium heavy rod. Lews on heavy and the lews on my big swimbait.

The SLX DC was my first DC reel and I absolutely love it. Early this spring I found a steel on the Scorpion DC, so I went ahead and picked it up but I have to say, I don't love it near as much as my SLX. It seems to have a lot more resistance when it comes to casting, and it's not near as smooth as my SLX, but it does feel better in the hands. No matter what though, if you can get your hands on any Shimano, you're gonna love it!

@@JustinRoyal get the MetaniumDC and ScorpionDC. I highly recommend. I went from a SLXDC and 2 CuradoDCs to a MetaniumDC and 2 ScorpionDCs. Nothing wrong with the SLXDC or CuradoDC but I like the feel of the MetaniumDC and ScorpionDC more.

Always went with the budget Lew’s baitcasting combos like that American hero’s. My girl just got me a googan gold series go to rod for my birthday so I decided I would go ahead and treat myself to a nice reel. The Curado DC is a dream. I’ve never used a DC real before but man, I don’t think I can ever go back.
SLX DC for the money is a great reel. It’s the F-150 of Shimano. Curado Dc is like the King Ranch Super Duty. I have bth as well. I tent to lean more toward the Curado DC. Great vidja brotha🙌

you really shouldn’t backlash at all if you’re casting correctly. whenever i backlash it’s because i casted terribly. its always user error. i’ve never backlashed off of a good cast by me
I havent noticed the drag i will have to check but i have noticed my tension Knob on my slx dc and the slx xt actually is to the point when i noticed a little more it will fall off but ya outside that i dont have the curado dc but i have the whole slx line up and love everyone one of them and in my opinion i kinda like the xt the best awesome casting and everything

The store only had the Curado DC in stock when I went in so I bought that, however since then I've played with the SLX DC a little and it just doesn't feel as smooth compared to the Curado. My other 'main' reel is a Revo SX and the smoothness of that reel has me spoiled.
I wanna try a Shimano reel but just haven’t pulled the trigger because my Lews Mach Crush and my Lews Mach ll work great but I’ll probably be talking the wife into one with a rod from the 6. Great video keep it up bro 🎣

Man I throw a Curado I and a Curado DC, I got my girl a SLX DC. The difference in the Curado DC and and SLX DC is so minor. Yes the Curado is a little smoother, but the SLX is butter too. If someone wanted a little more refined then i would say go with the Curado DC, if you want to save a little money on a reel and buy my tackle, then get the SLX. BOTH are great reels. I will buy more. Still wanting a Curado K but haven't found one since they dropped.
I agree with your assessment totally, dude! Accurate. Straight up, I got me a couple Curado Ks since I shot this video and I’m gonna go ahead and say they are nicer than my Curado DC and my SLX DC reels. If you don’t need braking assistance, the Curado K is where it’s at.

If you think that Curado is butter you should try a Scorpion DC or a Metanium DC. They have the IDC5 Braking systems.

I love my Curado DC and my SLX DC that said I would love to get a Shimano Scorpion DC with IDC5 braking technology.
I have both and love them both. I have found that the Curado DC handles the heavier weight lures better.

I have a Scorpion DC and SLX DC. Scorpion casts so much further and is smoother. Personally not a fan of the SLX DC.

For you salmon and steelhead anglers, have you found a big difference between the 2 reels? I’m looking for ruggedness, good drag, and versatility (float fishing, throwing hardware and drift fishing).
Did same thing. Bought the curado dc then slx dc. Loved the curado dc and figured I try the slx dc. But I bought another SLX DC because i liked it as much as curado but 50 bucks cheaper. And on point if about thumbing the reel. Thumbing is controlling distance. Also it comes natural if you throw casting reels often. If you want to chuck a bait as far as you can and don’t want to use a thumb go to a spinner reel. On point about the drag on SLX high gear one I just baught I left in my hot ass car and drag got messed up but I worked it out and seems good so far. My curado did not do that. I’m with you bro. Both dope reels. But my Lews Mach crush for heavy rod is where it’s at. Shimano for crankbait rod. Shimano for medium fast rod. Shimano for medium heavy rod. Lews on heavy and the lews on my big swimbait.

The SLX DC was my first DC reel and I absolutely love it. Early this spring I found a steel on the Scorpion DC, so I went ahead and picked it up but I have to say, I don't love it near as much as my SLX. It seems to have a lot more resistance when it comes to casting, and it's not near as smooth as my SLX, but it does feel better in the hands. No matter what though, if you can get your hands on any Shimano, you're gonna love it!

@@JustinRoyal get the MetaniumDC and ScorpionDC. I highly recommend. I went from a SLXDC and 2 CuradoDCs to a MetaniumDC and 2 ScorpionDCs. Nothing wrong with the SLXDC or CuradoDC but I like the feel of the MetaniumDC and ScorpionDC more.

Great video man. I have both of the reels and I like both. Slx dc is great because of the price but the curado dc is a lot smoother I Believe. I have 2 slx dc and 1 curado dc. I’m going to buy more of the curado dc when I get some more extra funds lol

I had the curado DC on my mfer rod and it was a beast! It was so versatile. Just bought a scorpion dc to go on an abu Garcia ike rod

Always went with the budget Lew’s baitcasting combos like that American hero’s. My girl just got me a googan gold series go to rod for my birthday so I decided I would go ahead and treat myself to a nice reel. The Curado DC is a dream. I’ve never used a DC real before but man, I don’t think I can ever go back.
No knock on those American hero combos though. Still reliable and sentimental to me.

SLX DC for the money is a great reel. It’s the F-150 of Shimano. Curado Dc is like the King Ranch Super Duty. I have bth as well. I tent to lean more toward the Curado DC. Great vidja brotha🙌

you really shouldn’t backlash at all if you’re casting correctly. whenever i backlash it’s because i casted terribly. its always user error. i’ve never backlashed off of a good cast by me
I havent noticed the drag i will have to check but i have noticed my tension Knob on my slx dc and the slx xt actually is to the point when i noticed a little more it will fall off but ya outside that i dont have the curado dc but i have the whole slx line up and love everyone one of them and in my opinion i kinda like the xt the best awesome casting and everything

I like the way you brake things down for your subscribers we just recently had are house burn 🔥 down to the ground and all we got left with is what we had on we lost are 3 beloved dog's in the fire and all my fishing gear. From rod combos to all my fishing lures my dad left to befor he passed so ya being able to get eather reels would be a blessing i have a birthday comeing up in August hopefully i could make a lil extra cash if i do thanks to you i know witch one i want that slx dc just looks bad ass thanks agin

I find the dc cast into the wind well, the slx dc is a great reel but can’t handle the wind as well.
The store only had the Curado DC in stock when I went in so I bought that, however since then I've played with the SLX DC a little and it just doesn't feel as smooth compared to the Curado. My other 'main' reel is a Revo SX and the smoothness of that reel has me spoiled.

Man I throw a Curado I and a Curado DC, I got my girl a SLX DC. The difference in the Curado DC and and SLX DC is so minor. Yes the Curado is a little smoother, but the SLX is butter too. If someone wanted a little more refined then i would say go with the Curado DC, if you want to save a little money on a reel and buy my tackle, then get the SLX. BOTH are great reels. I will buy more. Still wanting a Curado K but haven't found one since they dropped.
I agree with your assessment totally, dude! Accurate. Straight up, I got me a couple Curado Ks since I shot this video and I’m gonna go ahead and say they are nicer than my Curado DC and my SLX DC reels. If you don’t need braking assistance, the Curado K is where it’s at.
With the Currado and de Slv Dc we have 4 ajustement (1-2-3-4)
With the Scorpions DC we have 5 (1-2-3-4-W )
