Thanks so much. That is the least complicated, most straightforward, easy-to-follow explanation for the pallet compost bin I've seen. I feel I might actually be able to do it now.

Thanks so much for this, just refreshing my memory on the instructions as I got free pallets from my local garden centre and 4 angle brackets from the car boot sale for 60p - bargain compost bin!

I made my compost pile like that but put a panel on the bottom on top of cinder blocks so as the pile produced useable soil, I could remove the additional cinder blocks I had in front of the opening. This way I can remove the cinder block in front and get to the dirt. My only problem was that the flat panel I used for the bottom eventually rots out. Do you have a suggestion on how to make it so you can access the soil without using a bottom pallet that will rot out?

My compost bins are big rolling garbage bins with holes drilled in them. They work great and the compost is usually ready in 2-3 months. If your compost rots too slowly in that plastic bin, try drilling holes in it to give it more air. Enjoyed the video!

Thank you very much for your comment which is greatly appreciated. Yes, there are many ways to make compost and the Dalek bins are perfectly ok if there is no alternative. I will use my Dalek bin as an overflow now that I have my new pallet bin but thank you for the suggestion of drilling holes to add air circulation, that is a great idea. Kind regards. Gary

Yes z create a compost area first thing!
I moved to my daughter's last fall where they were building me a cottage - and I brought along my black compost bin - they have a double bin set up towards the back, which mostly holds brush!
We set the bin to the left of the gate, and could build one of pallets on the right!

I Fixed my side pallets so that they were held in place by using a piece of wood attached to the back pallet and the side pallet at the top, the angle of the piece of wood between the two was about 45 degrees. It did the same job as the brackets

Thank you very much for the suggestion Kevin I’m sure that will help others as well. There are a number of ways of securing the panels and it depends on people’s skill, desire and access to tools and materials. Your suggestion sounds great so thank you for sharing it. Kind regards. Gary

First thing I did when I got my allotment was to clear the compost bin of all the rubbish and plastic that had been dumped in there. I did this because I would need somewhere straight away to put all the vegetation waste from the plot. I will at some stage need to replace the compost bin as it is massive with all panels secure and I had to climb into it with steps making it too difficult for turning and getting the compost out. It is also in a really bad position as it is so large it creates too much shade over my vegetable growing areas x
