    LOLLLL the clip is gonna piss off ft-86 drivers...... but its so true!!!!
    having raced both s2k and ft-86 driving them both against each other, the ft-86 feels quite strange (maybe electrical bits imbalances car) thus buying a previously owned s2k over a brand new ft-86

    • @BeyBoy17
      @BeyBoy17 Před 8 lety +2

      +har rae I don't own an ft86(Frs) but i think what he said was kinda bs. The frs being more expensive to achieve the same level of performance as the type r or s2000 doesn't make it any less of a sports car. I doubt it's that much more though. We shouldn't forget that the frs is 24k new while the s2000 was like 34k$ new.

    • @TassieLorenzo
      @TassieLorenzo Před 8 lety +2

      +Nick Here are some examples: Even Civic Si and Type R have aluminium control arms, 86 does not. Even Civic Si / R have a basic oil-to-water oil cooler between engine block and oil filter, 86 does not (FA-powered WRX does and it can be retrofitted, but it seems a silly cost cutting decision on the 86).

    • @BeyBoy17
      @BeyBoy17 Před 8 lety

      +TassieLorenzo Like i said in my previous comments the frs was a cheaper car, 10k cheaper! The fact it doesn't have an oil cooler is not that silly. It's an Na with 200hp.
      Based on this logic i could say the S2000 isn't a real sports car either. I can buy a 99 Sti type r from Japan for like 10k, which has a ridiculous amount of advantages over the S2000. It would cost a lot of money to get the same performance out of an S2k.

    • @TassieLorenzo
      @TassieLorenzo Před 8 lety +5

      ***** I am comparing to the na 200hp civic si. Si has the cooler, si has the alloy control arms.. fr-s seems to have cost cutting there. similar price or less than fr-s. agreed, s2000 is more expensive car than fr-s, d be more sophisticated.so shoul

    Ichishima-san is the man! I love how in the video he says the 86 is for R&D only, then I look on their website and guess what? They now make and sell parts for FRS/BRZ, but like he said they'll never be on par with the superb S2000, like the one sitting in my garage right now just waiting to not be stock anymore. 60 hour work weeks here i come!

  • @MyHandsAreCats
    @MyHandsAreCats Před 11 lety +1

    But it's fun to drive and is a lot easier to control at it's limits than most cars, which just so happens to be it's purpose. I've driven both an s2000 and an FR-S, and the s2000 is a whole different monster. It's very precise with it's handling (especially an ap1, before they revised the suspension), and while it has a higher potential, it's very snappy once it's near its limits.

    Actually it was developed in the 80s with Hondas racing tech and was patented - F1 uses computers to control valve actuation which is the next gen as it replaces having a camshaft/s at all - but the tech to have two sets of lift specs was a racing technology Honda pioneered through their racing engine programs in the 80s before computer controlled valves - also its the best combination of cam lift specs for cars that see both track and street duty - race only cars dont idle much - street cars do

    For the guy saying the fd2 is a 06 and insisting that mr spoon does not know what yr the car he built is. If you listen he says they built it from the ground up. Honda had already developed the j spec fd in 2002 so what spoon got was a racing chassis from honda witch are white and bare metal spoon had developed a fd2 for racing and raced the fd 3months before it even went on sale for a tskuba time attack look it up spoon always get honda while there being developed. They had a s2000 in 1998 and was already racing and modifying it a few months before it went on sale. Soshirio honda actually gave itchi san a s2000 for his bday. Before the car was sold he had the actual prototype look it up and watch the vids they get them sometimes while there still being developed. Honda allows them to test and race them. For info and r&d

    It's weird to see a spoon monoblock behind a toyota's wheel, but some spoon fan who own 86 might follow what ichisima san did. If he said it takes 3-4 times the time and money to make the car better or at least comparable to s2000 level, I think he should've done it because it will make his garage earn 3-4 times more money and use the money to R&D their s2000 and type r further more.

    @DrRyan82994 Před 11 lety

    It's priced to go up against the Civic Si. It's not very fast but supposedly good fun to drive, same as the old AE86. Rumored turbo, supercharged, and even hybrid versions will bring high performance to the car. Most likely we'll see a turbo. I'm interested in a performance centered hybrid though. Could be like a Mclaren P1 but way cheaper, or a Honda CRZ but actually sporty.

    Except not really. It's not on par with a K20 but it's one of the better 2.0L NAs around. The BRZ/FRS cars are already within a second of most S2000 records on street tires at a few time events around the world. Give them some time to pump in R&D for the track, they are a better platform but I agree the engine isn't as good as what Honda can do.

    All of them - vtec killers were developed to lighten the valvetrain mass and maintain consistent pressure on the circuits where they hardly spend any time idling in the pits - on a STREET car idle is important and the need for TWO lobe centers is important - Toda Ds developed by Erics Racing have even higher VTEC lobes than killers and still use a primary smaller lobe for street driving - thus giving you max power in vtec when racing and still being able to maintain idle at street lights Noob

    A Subaru rep said it will have 50 more hp Na for probably 8k more.... Which will definitely make it over 30k. Which is pretty stupid pricing wise. But hey at least that will be more of an even comparison. Don't get wrong I love the s2000 and i'll probably end up buying a laguna blue ap2 this year. Watching videos online against ap1 vs the brz. the ap1 wins barly. only because it's easier to drive the brz/frs. All I'm saying is keep an open mind. If the brz was priced 20k it'd be a better car....
