18 inches is a Hebrew cubit. Moses is credited with writing Genesis. Moses spent 40 years as an Egypt prince and in Hebrews it states Moses was extremely learned in Egyptian architecture as a prince of Egypt he would be. an Egyptian cubit was 20.6 inches. They found a cubit in King Tuts tomb. This makes the ark 500' high, 100' wide, and 50' tall. the interior now would be 50% more volume than the size represented here. 50% BIGGER! That's a lot!

One little detail not mentioned is the type of wood used for the Ark. On some translations it says "Cypress" and on others "Gopher Wood". Some engineers have mentioned that to make such a ship using such dimensions, it would come apart in a really bad storm. However, in Hebrew, the original translation, it is not "Cypress". It says "Gopher Wood", a species of tree not found today. Perhaps it went extinct after the flood. It is interesting to note that the author goes thru the trouble in Genesis to mention the type of wood the ark would be constructed out of. Perhaps Gopher wood was as strong as steel but as light as aluminum?

The lower decks would have to have air pumped to them. At the bow, a few simple vertical tubes to each floor would work, with the tops having swivel caps, each with a vane to keep the cap's open side into the wind. Repeat on the ship's aft end, so providing silent, energy-free ventilation throughout, with the volume controlled by adjusting the size of the intake cap openings via a rope.
With the creatures walking and flying on their own to the food and water, they would get needed exercise, and the eight people voyagers would be free of otherwise too much labor.
Seems the animals would have hibernated some.
All creatures going on their own to a few in-ship outhouses with overhead ventilation would work.
The manure was maybe conveyed to topside to fertilize the garden.
Rain water could be captured in a huge aft mounted NACA-shaped tank to use the wind for keeping the bow to windward, necessary for a bearable ride. Pipes of steel or bamboo could have allowed gravity feed to the lower deck watering tanks, and provided pressurized hosed water below and on deck.
The anchor stones would help provide initial stability and windward pointing.
Both woodpeckers were assigned to the aluminum tender, towed a quarter mile aft.

Just an opinion but I suspect noahs cubit(elbow to fingertips) would have been longer than the average man's cubit today, considering that with the more oxygen rich atmosphere of that time the average man himself would have been larger. And I'm in no way suggesting that noah was genetically simular with the giants of that era because noah, his wife, and his sons were genetically more pure if not perfect, but because there was more oxygen in the atmosphere everything ordinary such as plants, insects, average animals (incuding average dinosaurs) were much larger. As is proven by in the fossils. Noah himself could have been around seven feet tall, more or less. The genetically impure giants and possibly some dinosaurs were a different story altogether because of the evil genetic manipulation carried out by fallen angels at the time before the flood. I believe also that all of the animals brought aboard the ark were fairly young. I think it just would have been easier. Some of these are just possibilities,I was not there. But I will say that I do believe the bible word for word.

For those who don't know, ron wyatt had professionals, that used ground penetrating radar for oil, come to Turkey and map out what he thought was Noah's ark and it turns out that it was 505ft long. All of the detentions match the Egyptian royal cubit. Also, they were able to map out timber framing and found metal rivets. The rivets were made of a mix of metals and elements that could only be forged under a higher pressure than our current pressure here on earth meaning that when the bible says he smashed the firmament it was an actual firmament that increased the barometric pressure. Also, this is the earliest use of metal forging ever documented. I'm thinking that the reason it took so long to build was the instruction manual.

God never gave Noah instructions to incorporate a curved bow and hull. God gave Noah instructions to basically build a shoebox-shaped massive floating vessel.
God's design fits a vessel designed to float, ride the waves and be swept by the winds, NOT navigate. It cannot navigate because God did not give Noah instructions to incorporate a propulsion system i.e. screws/propellers, sails.

Add 40 times 40 years takes us one year before the Great Flood take took place on October 1, 2348 BC. Add 66 times 66 years takes us to the election of Obama in November 2008. From Obama’s inauguration, add 777 times 7 days takes us to the start of the Millennium reign of Christ Jesus. From the death of Abel to the inauguration of Obama is also 400 times 777 Sabbaths.

It’s a distance of 50k km and they have a top speed when threatened of 0.27km/h. If they ran at their top speed and never stopped once to eat, sleep or drink it would take 22 years to get there. A sloths lifespan is 20 years. They would also have to cross many deserts and tundras.
It’s also worth noting that sloths store so little energy in their bodies that if their baby falls to the forest floor it will be abandoned because they physically don’t have the energy to climb down their tree and back up again.

Ron Wyatt was a 7th day adventist, and while that doesn't necessarily mean he didn't find any evidence for ancient biblical sites, there is a surprising lack of evidence for his findings.
He claimed to have found the ark of the covenant, and yet he claimed to have a vision of an angel telling him about the ark coming back during the tribulation and that the mark of the beast will be Sunday worship.
In other words, his vision of an angel basically told him that disobedience to the sabbath, will be akin to taking the mark of the beast. In complete contradiction to what the scripture teaches.
If he really had a vision from an angel it should have told him to repent of his false gospel of legalism from 7th day adventism, and idolotry of Ellen G. White and to believe in the truth of Gods word, instead it emphasised a false gospel.
Let them both be accursed is what Paul says in Galatians.
If any man found the ark of the covenant it would be one of the greatest archeological discoveries of modern time, however scripturally speaking it matters not.
The ark forshadowed Christ. Christ fulfilled all the law. He is the manna from Heaven, the bread of life. Our sabbath rest is found in a man, the man Christ Jesus, not in a day.
Don't be deceived by Ron Wyatt, there is no proof that he discovered the red sea crossing, or Noahs ark or even the ark of the covenant.
It shall be in those days when you are multiplied and increased in the land,” declares the Lord , “they will no longer say, ‘The ark of the covenant of the Lord .’ And it will not come to mind, nor will they remember it, nor will they miss it, nor will it be made again.

1 Samuel 6 New International Version (NIV)
    The Ark Returned to Israel
6 When the ark of the Lord had been in Philistine territory seven months, 2 the Philistines called for the priests and the diviners and said, “What shall we do with the ark of the Lord? Tell us how we should send it back to its place.”
3 They answered, “If you return the ark of the god of Israel, do not send it back to him without a gift; by all means send a guilt offering to him. Then you will be healed, and you will know why his hand has not been lifted from you.”
4 The Philistines asked, “What guilt offering should we send to him?”
They replied, “Five gold tumors and five gold rats, according to the number of the Philistine rulers, because the same plague has struck both you and your rulers. 5 Make models of the tumors and of the rats that are destroying the country, and give glory to Israel’s god. Perhaps he will lift his hand from you and your gods and your land. 6 Why do you harden your hearts as the Egyptians and Pharaoh did? When Israel’s god dealt harshly with them, did they not send the Israelites out so they could go on their way?
7 “Now then, get a new cart ready, with two cows that have calved and have never been yoked. Hitch the cows to the cart, but take their calves away and pen them up. 8 Take the ark of the Lord and put it on the cart, and in a chest beside it put the gold objects you are sending back to him as a guilt offering. Send it on its way, 9 but keep watching it. If it goes up to its own territory, toward Beth Shemesh, then the Lord has brought this great disaster on us. But if it does not, then we will know that it was not his hand that struck us but that it happened to us by chance.”
10 So they did this. They took two such cows and hitched them to the cart and penned up their calves. 11 They placed the ark of the Lord on the cart and along with it the chest containing the gold rats and the models of the tumors. 12 Then the cows went straight up toward Beth Shemesh, keeping on the road and lowing all the way; they did not turn to the right or to the left. The rulers of the Philistines followed them as far as the border of Beth Shemesh.
13 Now the people of Beth Shemesh were harvesting their wheat in the valley, and when they looked up and saw the ark, they rejoiced at the sight. 14 The cart came to the field of Joshua of Beth Shemesh, and there it stopped beside a large rock. The people chopped up the wood of the cart and sacrificed the cows as a burnt offering to the Lord. 15 The Levites took down the ark of the Lord, together with the chest containing the gold objects, and placed them on the large rock. On that day the people of Beth Shemesh offered burnt offerings and made sacrifices to the Lord. 16 The five rulers of the Philistines saw all this and then returned that same day to Ekron.
17 These are the gold tumors the Philistines sent as a guilt offering to the Lord-one each for Ashdod, Gaza, Ashkelon, Gath and Ekron. 18 And the number of the gold rats was according to the number of Philistine towns belonging to the five rulers-the fortified towns with their country villages. The large rock on which the Levites set the ark of the Lord is a witness to this day in the field of Joshua of Beth Shemesh.
19 But God struck down some of the inhabitants of Beth Shemesh, putting seventy[a] of them to death because they looked into the ark of the Lord. The people mourned because of the heavy blow the Lord had dealt them. 20 And the people of Beth Shemesh asked, “Who can stand in the presence of the Lord, this holy God? To whom will the ark go up from here?”
21 Then they sent messengers to the people of Kiriath Jearim, saying, “The Philistines have returned the ark of the Lord. Come down and take it up to your town.”

And as the following poster alluded to, there would be speciation that would follow after the flood, just like you see with cats and dogs. How many breeds of dogs do we see today? How many of these have appeared in the last 200 to 400 years? Would you need dozens of breeds of dogs on The Ark to have the diversity we today? Did beetles even need even to be on the Ark as the description for the type of animals required to be on the Ark would have difficulty survival outside The Ark?
