Straight up....I said Yul has a big chance to win it. The Rob and Parvati alliance better be quieted down or theyll be blindsided. Rob saved his hide and will be ticked that Amber got sent to the Edge.
100% he's at the head of the main alliance but in a quite way that won't make him a target and has a sub alliance within the main alliance that nobody else has noticed...…..and here I thought he'd lay low and get a purple edit in the first episode lol
@@nordy259 yul has excellent people skills and has a great friendly nonthreatening vibe...and can answer heated/shady questions quickly and appropriately. And he's played up against Parvati and won....Yul is a force that is underestimated.
Hearing Rich talking bout each episode is the cherry on top to the fun of the episodes

@@astrosjer822 I don't really see a real reason for Yul to go after Sandra so early though. Yes Sandra is a 2 time winner, but with her being that serves as a great shield. Yul's main focus was the "Poker Alliance" and it benefited him the most by taking that shot at Amber. The plus side of all this is that Rob and Sandra are most likely going to be at war now because Sandra played a part in voting Amber out. So I do think it was the right move for Yul to get Amber out. Keep in mind his name wasn't brought up a single time as a target in the episode, so why do something ballsy so early when he is clearly safe?
@@vladcooper4316 Yeah Yul formed the dominate alliance and has a sub alliance within that alliance. I do think he needs to take out Sandra asap now though before she has a chance to flip. There's zero chance she doesn't know she's at the bottom of that alliance.

remember that strategy saved richard hatch from being voted off the island- other wise he would not have won..

Ethan seems like a really amazing guy and He’s one I’m rooting for this season but Everyone knows Richard Hatch was the Original 1st Winner of Survivor and much more well known than Ethan. Rich would have made Season 40 more epic
Edge of Extinction makes sense in this series because there all winners and they stay on the tv but a regular season I hope they never bring it back again, your out your out.

There was actually strategy behind that, believe it or not. It was just coincidental that the people not in his alliance had names that started with letters early in the alphabet and it made him seem unasuming. That's according to the player himself, though, so take it with a grain of salt.

@@what1sfortnite678 i watch the first season, all player is kinda looking for ways to play, and somehow this awesome guy trick is not bullshit at all, if u watch closely, its has some gameplay in it. Anyone know whose this guy will vote out, that alone is gameplay. In any season there always some people who think that survivor is just vacation, especially in the early season.

Excellent analysis! You really should have been on the season...what a miscarriage of justice. And unlike All Stars--which was only, what, three, four years after the first season--the target on your back wouldn't have been so big, and you could have gone deep in the game. I think the other competitors would have underestimated you since you hadn't played in so long, which would have only helped your game. Could Richard Hatch have won again? Judging by his astute commentary, I say yes. But we were robbed of that. Honestly, they should do a second edition of Winners at War, with the remaining twenty winners, with Hatch there, of course. Rich, I was 22 when you won the first time...thank you for the memories 🙏 Admittedly, I hated you in the beginning, but, like Boston Rob afterwards, by the end of the season I was pulling for you like crazy. Take pride in being not only the show's first sole survivor, but one of television's best villains.
Wow! Your understanding of this game is astounding. Having watched (and rewatched) episodes 2-4, you already foresaw elements of gameplay that weren't made clear to us civilians. Can't wait to watch more recent recaps.

Yeah she was talking about how he'd be in trouble being perceived as a big threat and I think she was definitely thinking that would be to her advantage and maybe she'd work with him.
Hatch is so insightful and easy to listen to. I really love his takes on almost everything Survivor. I hope he does this after every episode.

It is great to hear your thoughts on a number of the players. When watching this premiere, I was thinking back to All-Stars. The big threats finally seem to have learned how to maneuver their way into a position where they can work with each other to eliminate the people going "big game hunting", unlike in All-Stars.
I like Edge of Extinction, particularly for this generation of Survivor players, because a lot of the people I want to watch would otherwise go home early, 'cause "they're too big a threat". Which works for the players because it increases their chance of winning but I've dipped out on a number of seasons as a viewer because I didn't find those remaining that interesting to watch. I love how they've expanded on EoE for this season as there's going to be a lot of great players who otherwise wouldn't even had made it to the jury. It was a total bummer for me when they snuffed Natalie's torch 'cause I think she's fantastic.

Maybe they should do EoE without a chance to get back in
I love the EoE island. Every single player can choose to survive for 36 days and be a part of the jury at least. A twist I would like to see added to it is that each player must survive alone on a beach for at least 24 hours thinking that they will be alone their entire stay on EoE.

That is the most apt description I have heard for Richard Hatch
This is true. And maybe on some level that is the best way to appear to have made bold predictions about this game, which is what Hatch is aiming for I think. Just go in circles without saying much really. Because Survivor can change so drastically from moment to moment with all the forces that everyone has to contend with including producers of the show. To ascribe to anybody the omniscience required to find oneself at the end and winning it all, especially after just one episode is not shrewd.

What are your thoughts on the fire tokens?
I thought of you as the episode started. What a great 1.5 hours of entertainment it was, though. I felt bad for the blue team because the ocean seemed to be working against them in that first challenge. I wonder if the players can or do discuss challenge related issues. Natalie is one of my favorite winners. I was so disappointed to see her get voted off first like her sister was in their original season. I wonder if after being voted out first a player could still have a legitimate shot at getting to F3 and securing enough votes for a win. I think I like this iteration of the redemption Island a bit more than the previous one although, that idol did not seem to be in a very difficult place to find. One of the things I didn't like about last season's island was that the winner came from it, but we barely got to see them on the redemption island. I think they should have spent more time there since the eventual winner would come from it. We should have seen Chris making the bonds that would go on to secure him the votes at F3. We should have heard them talking about how anyone from the island should make fire etc. I'm rambling. Good video, Hatch. It'll be great to get your insightful takes after each episode.
I think Rob made a huge mistake voting off Natalie. IMO he should have played the "your a couple, me and my wife are a couple" card with Jeremey and Natalie. Now I see Jeremey joining forces with Ben and the other new player to take out Rob. He could have had a solid alliance going and now all he has is Parv on his side...….though I'm guessing he'll be saved by a idol from his wife if they lose the next challenge...…..this is my thoughts based off the edited show we see

Ethan played a great game in Africa by pairing with a dominant force in Lex but letting Lex take the heat for the moves, a same approach could be made with Rob. out of all the players last night Ethan and Yuls ability to adapt and hit the ground running but not hit the radar really impressed me.

I agree with Rich about Sandra: how some people say "how did she win?" is a testimony to her manuvering and scheming so sly and unobserved, that players are outplayed by her without them even realizing. That is genius

Fan of the game, but I never knew I needed a hatch commentary...
I think the big threats will purposely keep each other around. The people you have to worry about are the quiet people like Yul, Sophie, Adam, Denise etc. Why get rid of Rob, Parvati or Sandra early? They will always be excellent meat shields.
Tony & Sandra alliance has always been so powerful when they work together. However they never seem to be trusting each other for some reason and always back stabs each other.
At the end of the day, and when this seasons over, one question will remain.... what would have happened if Richard Hatch and Russell Hantz would have played?

@@dffndjdjd True, Russell never won but there is no denying that he should have won. If it wasnt for a bitter jury, he would have because he deserved it beyond question. Maybe we can see Hatch and Russell in a rumored Legend season in season 42.
@@dffndjdjd Hatch could play again if he agrees to certain conditions. One being, no full on nudity just for the sake of shock value. I'm sure Hatch could agree with this. It's not like he cant win the game unless he runs around naked as a strategy. Survivor is also about adapting to the game and in these modern times, Hatch could realize that he needs to adapt to these sensitive times and just eliminate the excessive nakedness in his game. Russell could adapt also, he only needs to invest in people more, not impossible for him to do.
@@dffndjdjd I get what your saying. Yes the media could bring up certain things from his past. Richard was accused of touching Susan and she cried about it. It was a long time ago. I get it. All I'm saying is, I would not be shocked if he plays again. Hes not the first controversial player to play on a reality show. He wouldn't play untill season 42 at least and that's enough time for the stench of season 39 to wear off. He didn't commit murder so unless the CBS stockholders have a fit, who cares what the media thinks. I'd bet that the ratings for Survivor would be through the roof if he returns for a legends season. We will just have to agree to wait to see what happens. Yes, chances are slim for his return but not impossible.

I love the edge of extinction twist now that it can help people still in the game. Queen Sandra now is safe for 3 tribals due to it.
Leading up to the tribal councils, there was none of the usual focus on keeping strength for challenges, who’s helping out around camp, all that kind of stuff. It was all about booting people with strong prior connections. Do you think that was just the editing, or do you think that’s really how it played out?
