I don’t like hex but I agree, if you have no knowledge in hex, then you have no knowledge in healing.
What a lot of people don't realize is they've probably hexed, cursed or jinxed anyway without even realizing it because it's easy to do if you don't choose your words or thoughts carefully.
@@aidanabila143 I don't understand. I know plenty of healers who have no knowledge of hexes and have no interest in learning either. This sounds like the kind of thing people say to themselves to justify dark deeds.
I sometimes cast a “Give me what I need” spell for myself and for others who need it. Basically you get what you need the most. A friend of mine asked if I could help with a new job that she wanted. She didn’t got it and she was very angry, then a few days afterwards she got a other job that not only payed better but also was closer to home and had better hours. Mission accomplished.

I believe it was 'Silver RavenWolf' who said that the Witch that cannot hex, cannot heal. Meaning, I suppose, that sometimes poisons make the best remedies for certain ailments. And without knowing the proper doses then it would be impossible to properly heal.
plus we need to know how to handle things if we or someone else gets hexed or bound.

@@josephosorio5718 You are exactly right. Many years ago I had a problem of frequently vomiting - it was happening nearly daily. My doctor sent me to a Compounding Pharmacist to make me a tincture of Belladonna. Belladonna is well known as being poisonous, but in the right (minute) dosage it fixed my problem.

I never thought of Peacock feathers are something to use in hexing, very interesting. I think of peacocks feathers as representing attraction, ego, confidence, and body image, the only ways I think to use peacock feathers in a hex would require ruining the feather, and I just couldn't push myself to destroy something so beautiful

@@TheChino1211 Curses and hexes come home to roost. If you are doing it out of revenge, take heed and know that what ever you want to send out to your target you will have to channel it through your own being. This is why they say the magic comes back 3 time over, because much more of it will be in your being. Think of it kind of like writing a letter; you buy a pack of envelopes just to send one. A pack of paper just to use one. A full pen, just to write with a bit of the ink.
Do what you must, but please take care.
I prefer return to sender spells, but I have done one hex. For me, someone has to really deserve it for me to even consider actually hexing them because it takes more time and energy, so it has to be worth that time and energy to me.

I like that most items you might use in "baneful" workings can also be used in protection, so if you don't want to do hexes or whatever you can always use it for a protection candle or witch's bottle. I don't do baneful magick myself, but I support anyone's decision to do so with a clear heart and mind. I've seen that book and I definitely want to read it on your recommendation! I believe in looking right at all the bad stuff, it robs it of some of its power, and in understanding all aspects of the craft, because you have to decide what you believe - the lines of what's "baneful" are probably different to everybody, you need to understand what it all means and where that line is for you, even if you decide not to do it.

when you read graveyard dirt, idky but my anxiety spiked. the coffin nails are cool cuz you can’t “buy” them really cuz they gotta be made by blacksmiths, from my understanding.

Honestly, this comment is nearly two years out from the publishing of this video, but I also have to recommend Utterly Wicked. It's easily the best witchcraft book I've read in general because the author is surprisingly funny. Props to the phrase "Peel me off the ceiling pissed".
I'm not about hexing, but I am 100% on the same page with Olivia here with the belief that you still need to understand how hexing and baneful magic works.
Because how in the heck do you think you're going to be able to defend yourself or others against something that you don't understand?

I've only done one hexing, and boy, did it work! Not in the way I though it would; it actually exceeded my expectations. The most important part of it for me was the psychological effect it had on me, which allowed me to set spiritual, psychological, and emotional boundaries, and move on with my life in a positive direction. It allowed me to get out of a very toxic relationship and to heal. The ceremony/ritual of just doing a hexing, I believe, helps the practitioner and doesn't necessarily have to do with the outcome. Does that make sense? I realized that the purpose of the toxic relationship, the purpose of the abuse, was to allow me to evolve and regain the personal power that I gave away and lost. The ritual helped me to realize that I had given my power away and so, helped me take it back. I learned a lot from this. The most important lesson for me was to never give that power away again. And equally, I would say, that it allowed me to identify negative/destructive/pathological behavior in others and now the blinders are are off and since I can see it, I can avoid it and set boundaries. Is this making sense? Do any of feel this way or have had the same experience?

I'm interested in that book. I have no qualms about hexing or cursing but I will do it as a means of justice, like deliberately attacking. I hope baby witches aren't discouraged from defending themselves.

This was the first box I got from them and I loved it. Baneful magic isn't usually part of my practice, although there is a bit of room for it, depending on the circumstance. That said, yes, that is an amazing, wonderful, sometimes funny book! can't wait for the Sept box!
I love, love, love Utterly Wicked! That book really is so well done. She writes very conversationally, which makes it an easy and fun read, plus she takes time to explain the whys and hows of collecting some of the materials for the spells included. Definitely recommend to anyone who wants to know about how and why to hex, or what they might be up against if they don't do baneful magic, but want to help with reversals.

this box was so awesome. at first I was like....... lol wut am I gunna do with this?? but the book is AMAZING! fave sub box now
I received mine a couple weeks ago. I was a bit disappointed in my first box just due to the fact it wasn't aligning what I normally would get for myself. After talking to my sister, I'm just going to give a good half of it to her since she is into the more Hoodoo/Voodoo practices. Because every time I picked up certain items in the box, it felt off, like I wasn't supposed to have it. Like trying to play Jenga and the pieces are fitting unevenly. So I figured, most of this box wasn't meant for me.
I am keeping the obsidian, lemongrass, black peppercorns, and one of the black candles. The rest I'm giving to my sister. The funny thing is, right after I got the box, apparently she was trying to work something that had to do with all the stuff in the box and we were just discussing it.
Oh and btw, most of my grimore pages were folded then straightened back out again, like someone did it purposely and then found out they were just all going to be straight or something. It was a bit odd. And the twin I got was all rainbow too. Weird.
I was curious to see what other's opinion's about the box were. I'll defiantly let her know that it's a good book when I see her Saturday for sure.
The coffin nails can be used for protection on your home to help keep away unwanted spirits you don't have to necessarily use them to hex... their is another use for rail road spikes that do the same thing for your home if you own your home or live on a piece of land to protect it you need four though and you place them in the four corner of the property spiked down in the dirt to help protect the property from evil spirits and to keep it in the family...... you also just have to remember all things have a light and dark side to them.... it your intentions. Because you can use the graveyard dirt for reversal work... i know thou that feeling of things not being for you... I received a tarot deck and just that bad feeling like now its not mine.... not meant for me.... so i totally get what your saying....
@@CrystalSharp4U yeah I when I got the box, it just didn't feel like it was really mine. So after a conversation with my sister, she was super excited to get it instead. I'm glad my sister also practices. Works out for both of us. Haha

Need this box 😍 I was so excited I was like it's Wednesday it's Olivia day! I was actually turned away from Wicca because of how literally some people take the threefold law. I'm a witch based more in rootwork but collect bits of folk magic from different sources that could make me better. Olivia, if you are interested, there is a really good book on rootwork called Working Conjure and the author, who is family tradition rootworker and initiated Haitian Voodoo priest, has very good adult conversation about the left handed work. I do not go around being petty and hexing people, but this heavier emotional work is like the bones of craft that helped our ancestors survive and fight oppressing forces and it just much deeper than pop culture makes hexing out to be.

I dig the slightly beat up concrete surface your working on. It feels very down to earth.
If you love the smell of lemon grass I recommend using it with peppermint, I have a lemongrass and peppermint candle and it smells amazing! Bonus, the combo is great for cleansing work, and is totally possible to make as a 'tea' infusion

From both a historical and anthropological standpoint it is established both factually and lore wise witches were sought after to instill justice back in the day. Especially before universal justice systems were established. You would go to your local witch, wizard, wise person, shaman, cunning person or whatever title the local region, culture, time period called them to get said justice. When someone stole a animal from your farm or someone woo'ed away your lover or you felt a illness was brought on by a hex you would go do your local witch for justice or retribution. So it is certainly under the umbrella of a practicing with to hex others for justice. I know several very capable witches who have binded or/and hexed child & wife abusers, murderers and related ilk all under them feeling it is their responsibly to help justice along.
Now that does not mean you as a witch HAVE to or should. Of course you use your own ethical compass for that. But on the flip side pretending there isn't historical precedence for such is a bit disingenuous. Witches have been arbitrating justice in most every culture for many centuries and hexing is just one of the tools used for such. Justice givers is as much as being part of a witch as magick or lore keeping.
All that said I agree if you chose to use hexing for justice or not knowing and understanding how it works is invaluable, great advice on your part. Knowing is half the battle ;)
The dangers is when you cross the line from legitimate justice seeking to hexing for selfish or pretty things. I have seen some "witches" claim they hexed someone for such things as a verbal insult or a person who didn't give them a job. I feel karma knows when a hex is against a abusive drunk vs someone called me a name. And it will lash back out at you appropriately. You should never use a hex unless it is a last resort and never get to the point when it is comfortable.
