The memorial that is owned by the VA is astounding. When we visited it, I walked half the length of the back fence. Only half because when I heard footsteps through the leaves, I thought it was my husband. Thing is, he was well over 100 feet away, talking to my daughter.

Those of us who maintain Confederate Memorial Park, Inc. have pictures of things and people that we did not see. Sometimes, we catch voices on our surveillance system.

@@billrose2083 its amazing. I've never been a big believer in hauntings, that place changed my mind. There wasnt any evil or mean 'feelings', just sadness. My heart still aches for those laid to rest there, may their memory be blessed.

Honestly, I'm not sure what to make of it all. We have NUMEROUS voices on our surveillance. There was a "road widening" that went down to the state park where the POW camp was. When widening, the state went through a historic Confederate cemetery. We told them to ensure they had an archeologist team with them, and We wanted those remains. The state refused and took the remains to a gavel pit/landfill. Well, we knew the owner. He brought ALL of that material back to us, and we now have a cemetery on our park property. It's a long story. Come visit us and we'll tell you more. Since we saved that material, "friendly things" have been happening.

I am one of the board members for Confederate Memorial Park, Inc. I want to invite everyone to come and visit us. Since this video was made, we have more than doubled the size of the park boundry. We plan to construct a sectional replica of the prison pen complete with the guard tower. It's a work in progress, but we do the work with love and passion. Come see us. We're open year-round rain or shine. Please understand that the park was not built BECAUSE OF THE CAUSES OF THE WAR. It is there to memorialize those who suffered there and to tell their story. We do not get into politics or the reasons for slavery, etc. We tell the true history of civilian men, women, and children, soldiers, both Union and Confederate, and the United States Colored Troops that were kept at Point Lookout POW Camp. We'll be looking for ya.

Thank you! Was down to Ridge a few weeks ago and stopped by to take in the history. Thank you for making the Memorial Park welcoming for all. It's a testament to our living history. I have aunts and uncles and cousins who still live in the area. The old family homestead is on the National Historic Registry.

This Flag Park is there to show respect for all the soldiers and civilians that lost their lives in the Prision of War camp during the Civil War at Point Lookout. The flags displayed there are a representation of many different flags that were used during the war. There is a famous saying "Those who do not learn from History are doomed to repeat it". This park will accurately represent history to the best of their ability. All are welcome to walk in this park and enjoy what it has to offer. In this day of political correctness a few people will argue that this is wrong. I argue that it is wrong to let History slip away and be forgotten. To allow that to happen is an insult to all that lost their lives at this terrible place and time in history.

I have family members who died at that prison, and I am going to visit it next week for the first time. Oh, I'm a good old rebel, and that's just what I am!

As a descendant of many Union soldiers I think our Southern brethren should be allowed the dignity of honoring their ancestors.

Thank you. I am a board member at this Confederate Memorial Park, Inc. Please be assured that we honor ALL of the soldiers and sympathizers on both sides. Our park is primarily a Confederate themed place, but we all have ancestors from both sides. We get it. Truely.
