- UNREAL 20,000+ Autograph Collection FOUND At One Estate! Sports Cards, Autograph, Sports Illustrated Magazines in hand and he has 95.7% of them signed. Meet The SI KING aka Scott Smith who has been collecting for over 40 years.
One of the largest sports illustrated autograph collectors in the world. When an SI comes out he plans his mission to get it signed. From traveling to Iceland for World Cup soccer stars, giving Adrian Peterson a ride to get chew, to Chapel Hill campus for Michael Jordan. The stories are incredible.

Passion and persistence drives SI King to get the next signature for his collection. Very similar to sports card collectors and sports card investors.
From 1954 through 2021, there have been 3834 total magazines of which 3671 are able to be signed. (163 covers are not singable…. Like dogs, horses, trees, artwork, copy or words only, fishing lakes or people that are already deceased)
Of the 3671 issues that can be signed by someone, I have 3512 signed. That's 95.7% of the history of the magazine…. Signed
On those 3512 signed covers, I have 5413 signatures. Many issues obviously have multiple cover subjects (like the Sistine Chapel cover that has 68 sigs)
Of the 5413 total signatures, 870 are deceased. 16% of the collection are deceased.

Story time: I got Jordan’s auto at that same golf tournament in the Bahamas in maybe it’s 2nd year. I was a kid, which helped, with just the basketball. The crowd was small, and they mostly stayed around the 1st/Last hole, so I hoofed it to the furthest hole away and sat and waited there for him to play through. My marker was crap, so he ended up signing it twice even. Got Dr J added later on that day, which I know isn’t $ smart, but that ball is never leaving my PC.
Unreal!!!!!!
I got Tom Brady @ the 2006 MJCI event in the Bahamas 🇧🇸 … I attended MJ’s event 2006 - 2014 only missed in 2011 when it moved to Aria/Shadow Creek/LasVegas.
Just reading all the awesome comments and feedback. Amazing!! Thanks for taking the time to come out for the visit and shoot. Always great to hang with ya!! See ya next June in Tahoe :)
Scott not only has the most amazing collection I've ever seen, he's seems like one of the nicest people there could be. It must have been amazing to just hang and talk shop.
I live 2 hours from Knoxville, so getting Peyton Manning was very easy for 4 years, he would sign anything - I got him to sign photos, mini helmets, SI covers, even a birthday card for my friend once, so one year the week before the Vols were playing the Florida Gators SI put out a cover with a cartoon picture of Peyton wrestling an Alligator, at this point Peyton had never beat Florida....as usual the Gators won again...but a few weeks later I ask Peyton to sign that Cover for me, and he looked at it, handed it back and said "I don't sign cartoons" lol...I know he was just mad that he lost to them again, but it was the only time he refused to sign for me in 4 years
Scott is the man. He recently helped me in Australia sent him my Magic Johnson/Michael Jordan 16x20 already signed by Jordan. Wanted it signed by Magic he helped me get it signed and ship it back to Australia. So happy to have it dual signed and only happened thanks to Scott
Oh my gosh I love hearing stories like this
What a collection 😮
Incredible SI auto collection! Thanks for sharing Jay!
I come back and watch this every few months and it never gets old. 40 min vid it’s basically a short movie to me. So incredible!
I like this collection better than any card collection I’ve ever seen.
One of your absolute best videos of all time. Thank you for this very informative & educational video on autograph collecting. What an awesome collection, but he worked his butt off to achieve every signed issue.
Scott is hands down a great guy. He’s my favorite promoter and consigner. He’s a blessing to the community. Great video guys!
Jay great video...Scott Smith SI King is a legend in Manhattan...spent many nights chasing baseball players..it was a great competition trying to get the stars of the 90's and 2000's Waited many hours til 3am at the Hyatt waiting for Chipper!!
Chuck! I remember you from 101. Thanks for watching man.
Awesome video Jay! Knowing Scott and hearing stories firsthand is nothing compared to this. Great job and Scott is the KING!
Thanks for watching Josh. The stories are endless and Scott is one of the most passionate collectors I’ve ever met.
Scott is the man!!!!!!! Two legend's!!!!!
I love this video, I started collecting Sports Illustrated magazines over 20 years ago. I thought that I was the only one collecting them but have since learned that they are very popular now especially unsigned newsstand copies that are graded by CGC. I love Scott’s stories on his collection. Unbelievable collection!
This is your best video yet. Love this style and love Scott's story. Always saw him through the years and wondered how amazing his collection must be, and you satiated that desire. Nice work, man! 10/10 video.
Thank you ❤
One of my favorite interviews, love the collection videos!
Favorite SI is the George Foreman which has a story around Massillon vs McKinley high rivalry. My Mom and Dad are in the crowd in one of the pics ❤
Nice. Love the Massillon McK rivalry
This was one of the best videos I’ve seen in a long time! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Great job!
Awesomeness 👌. Ran into si King in Tahoe too. Great story's. Keep slaying
Best content yet. I could listen to his stories forever

I met Scott in Tahoe years ago at the American Century Celebrity Golf Tournament. He helped me identify who some of the players are. We are used to seeing them in their uniforms but it is tougher to tell who they are in a split second without them in them. I met another guy who has a collection like Scott’s at a convention in San Jose. He was having Arnold Schwarzenegger sign a couple of S.I. magazines. Awesome job with this interview! I love the stories behind the autos. I’ve got a few of my own.
Glad to hear that about Adrian Peterson, my family and I are lifelong Vikings fans and he was the first star that I was aware of, and got me into football, I'd love to meet him someday
This is incredible! Wow love this guy! What a legend. I think his story is just an incredible the athletes he is getting signed. What he has accomplished is in a way, what Jordan or Brady has accomplished in their respective fields! Just amazing! Inspiring as well!
Right? Thanks for watching
Finally more autograph/memorabilia content. Us OGs are happy, Jay!
Amazing collection!! I love the Mantle and the very first SI cover! Seems like everyone gets the cover signed but the few I have I get them to sign the inside. Like when Rose has his hit #4192. He’s not on the cover but the article is on the inside. Just something different but nothing like what he has!!! Great video!
That was so awesome!! I haven’t been so captivated in a CZcams video like this in a while, hearing the story’s was awesome!!! Great video
Jay, THIS WAS YOUR BEST VIDEO EVER! LOVED THIS STORY
thank you
One of your best video ever keep them coming, what an amazing collection of autographs !
this was one of the coolest videos i have ever watched! Thank you for taking the time to share with us all mojo!!!
🤝🤝🤝
I've known about Scott for many years, and read many articles about him, but this was by far the most interesting interview yet. Hadn't heard much about him lately, so it's great to know he's doing well (I believe he had been sick for awhile?). My favorite story of his had to be going to Iceland. Maybe I'm just not that dedicated, but I probably wouldn't go that far to get an autograph. My favorite cover (other than some swimsuit issues) would have to be 4/30/62 Luis Aparicio sliding into the base and camera. Great shot. Thanks for this truly great video!
Excellent video.
I’m just upset that i was only referenced in the “core group” of collectors you roll with and not mentioned individually!!! 😢😢😢😝😝😝😝
Best collection on the planet and i better have a few SI’s coming my way from the WILL!! Lol
This is amazing & hilarious at the same time. This man reminds me of one of my dads buddies. This guy was so dedicated to collecting autos, he went the EXTRA MILE. He had a binder of every celebrity he got autos from, & he would have 15-20 copies each.
He once told me this story how he knew Jeter was in town when he was in Miami. He followed Jeter to the same facility 2 days in a row. On the 3rd day, he had a general idea of Jeter’s routine, so my dads buddy got to the facility early & threw cones in front of the entrance to force him to stop. My dads buddy guarded the cones like he was the security. Sure enough, Jeter pulled up & asked about the cone situation. My dad’s buddy said “i’ll move them out, but first can you sign this jersey?” He said Jeter laughed in his face, but signed it anyway! Just shows if you really put your mind to something, you will achieve it😂
I would be so scared my house would catch fire. Those need to be in a safety deposit box. Love the collection. Epic! 🔥
I was thinking the same thing, lol
Really enjoyed this one... could listen to Scott all day long
Thanks for watching
OH my goodness, that is the craziest collection of signatures Ive ever seen
Right? 🎉
Jay it's Josh Lasure here in Portland, OR just wanted to say great video as always I love watching your channel grow and next time you are in the area I'd love to grab lunch on me brother hope all is well!!!
Dude. Such an amazing video!!!!!
Great stuff as usual!
Thanks bro!
Good video - Scott’s a legend
Incredible collection and great video.👍
Thanks for the awesome stories
Thanks for watching
Another outstanding video !!!! You’re awesome and very professional !!!!
Goose Gossage does have a great auto but I still think Bart Starr has the best sutograph ever. I guess Vince Lomardi told his players to take time to sign an autograph neatly or don't bother signing. Very cool collection and thanks for showing it to us Mojo! I hope this guy has a huge insurance policy on this collection or its enclosed in a fireproof room as I have no idea the value of this collection. Maybe you can come visit my Packer autograph collection. Its not nearly as impressive as this guy but it is my pride and joy.
Bart!!! Great name drop…. Thank you for watching and commenting
Their autos are sweet!! Bert Blyleven and Larry Bird have some of the best signatures in sports too.
Crazy episode, love his passion
The man, the myth, the legend.
Loving the new content very simple but super awesome!! keep it up
Thanks Charlie 🤝😁
What a collection and great stories.
Thanks for commenting
Great stories , love the jordan story most.
🤝🤝🤝
I went to Ripken's last game at Tropicana Field with an SI in a rigid holder with a section cut out where I wanted him to sign. Toward the end of the game I made my way to the Orioles dugout where a line starts forming and I'm right toward the front. Then a 2nd line starts forming. Ripken comes out and starts signing at the other line. I look to see where the end of that line is and it's halfway around the stadium. I would've waited but my wife was with me, can't even imagine what Scott has went through. The only autograph I got in person was Walter Payton's when I was 13!
I live near Rock Lititz in PA. Many music acts come into town to prep for tours. I always keep a dozen baseballs in the car
Amazing. You’re one of us!!
That Jordan on the elevator story🤯🤯🤯🤯
Man I loved that. Enjoyed every second of it. My fav is them all but love the Lebron high school I have it. I looked at it last week in the basement. Love the video !!!
Great Vid...👍😎
THIS WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!
Thanks for watching
This was your best video ever Jay :)
Thank you for watching. Don’t forget to subscribe
can't believe he has these raw and not in a CGC slab! these things are so delicate. this is your best video yet! very unexpected!
I think he’s old school and keeps them preserved like he does
Thanks for watching
I was thinking the same thing about them being delicate and Jay just kept grabbing them from his hands 😂
@@34jcortez lol!! Yeah, so crazy. Was waiting for one to drop and bend an edge or corner
Amazing collection
Unreal collection I love this content
Looking forward to the book!!!

@@mojo_sports Legend Lance likes to stay under the radar LOL
Wow amazing collection
This was a banger video! Loved the story of Jordan in the elevator haha
Dude thank you. Preciate it if you hit subscribe
Best video yet
Un. Believable. That Maradona story is NUTS
Great collection. I would be so nervous for one little fire.
🤝
unbelievable stories.... id love to meet him. Has he met larry legend?
thanks for watching. yes he has
That was insane
One of the greatest videos I’ve ever seen
The guy seems like he's nice and has good intentions and all, but man, some of these stories feel a little scummy and borderline creepy. I guess you gotta respect the hustle?
I think a gift like a Cuban cigar or something similar would go a lot further with Jordan than money.
He said "she has to walk the dog eventually". This dude literally willing to do anything for those autos
He’s dedicated
I hope Scott writes a book. I would be among the first to buy it.
Now that is without a doubt next level dedication….Now I feel like such a horrible person for not ever getting my 10-12 SI’s signed even though that was the plan 😭…lol Cool content Mojo J
I got one of Will Smith back in the day when he was just rapping, and one of John Ritter. Both were on a napkin, and I have no idea where they are
Dang history moment in this video.. he must open his own museum..
Right? 🔥
How strict is the Upper Deck contract for Lebron and Jordan with signing autographs?
This isn’t ‘chasing’ it’s stalking - mojo,I like the interview content props to you for trying something different
I put together a HUGE SI/sports mag collection from about 2000-2006. Ebay was still pretty new, I had high speed which was still new, and figured out a lot of ebay tricks early. I know who my competition was back then and I'm sure nobody was outdoing me. I have the 1st SI from 1936 which I understand in good confidence is 1 of 3 known. I also have the 2nd issue and 6 others from that run. I have the 1st SI from 1949. I have the 2 DUMMY issues of the current SI including the signed Henry Luce letter. I have the entire 1st year in newstand, mint (ungraded) cond. And on and on and on! Scott is the only guy I know for sure that has a better SI collection than me. This is my 1st time seeing his collection and I'm shocked he wasn't getting those autographs on newstand issues??? Anyhow, my mags have been sitting in a closet for 20 years and I just checked back in to the hobby. I'm STUNNED to see the prices and what's happened! Can't wait to get mine graded... stay tuned.
Sup? Excited to see this one.
enjoy. please like and share
amazing video
Thanks Bobby
This guy is a certified g
What does Scott do or did for a living ?
Mojo - id love to share my graphs with you. I have some old school mags done and then my current ones. How can I send you some
Email
Me some pics
🔥
I was hoping to hear what Scott valued his collection at today.
A LOT!!! 😂
I have used him a couple times.
Can you ask Scott what brand his white tee is for me?
Hanes
This dude is the GOAT
🎉
I can confirm that Karl Malone was suuuuuper hard to get an autograph from. I got him finally ... Charles Barkley looked through my binder of autos and was shocked to see Karl's photo autographed
🤯
Good
Thanks
great stuff, my mom meet paul newman in 1981, in westport,ct at a ice cream store with his wife, when she asked for an autograph, he said i quit signing when i quit smoking, di--head....
true story....
By him selling covers to other collectors devalues his own collection ... terrible move
Surprised he didn’t show any Serena covers.
He showed a couple but he said she was tough
That’s a collection
Right? What was your favorite signed SI
