- Matsumoto Castle is the pride and joy of Matsumoto. Being the oldest intact castle in Japan and having black color scheme (unique among Japanese castles), it is a must see if you are in the area. My recommendation is to check out the castle in 3 parts:
1) Explore Matsumoto Castle Park. It's the free area outside the castle that is always open. I've walked around the castle many times and each time I see something new and amazing. It's also a great place to meet with friends, eat your lunch, or read a book.
2) Go into the Castle Grounds, explore its gardens, and go inside the castle. Find the English tours put on by passionate Alps Language Service Association volunteers. Then, of course, gets some gifts in the gift shop.
3) Go back there at sun-set with some food, drinks, and friends, and enjoy the castle lit up with spotlights. It's lit until 10pm every night!
Highlights:
- Learning about the history of Matsumoto Castle (there is so much more than I could mention in my video!)
- Getting a photo of yourself with the red bridge and the castle in the same shot
- All the great events held there all year! Info on events is here: goo.gl/9Q1W1e

Matsumoto Castle is a very nice place! 👍
Awesome video! You were there for so many cool events. The castle has many different experiences throughout the year :-)
It's also exactly how a castle looked during the Sengoku Jidai, a majority of castles of the time, unlike Himeji and others, were painted almost entirely black. Had something to do with how black paint was very expensive at the time and only those who could afford to paint their fortresses in this color would do so.
This video is so well put together
amazing tour👍🏻thank you for taking us along
Excellent. Thank you
Awesome Vid!! I loved this amazing vid. SO BEAUTIFUL! So many cool things to see in Japan. When you were being chased by warriors was a ROFL moment. Thanks dad!

Nice video David.
Hi, new subscriber from Canada, looking forward your next video, stay connect 😉
You spoke good England
Soba Festival was the best I think :)
Watching Shogun with Richard Chamberlain right now. I've read the book three times. One of my all time favorite novel by James Clavell. And one of the greatest novels ever written. I've read Tai-Pan and most of his other great novels. I'm looking at Amazon and apparently there are a few I haven't read.
This isn’t fb mate, we don’t need to know this
@@gunsharck Is this why dirty little cowards hide behind phony monikers?
And by the way, replies to my comments are rare in the extreme except for the idiots who for some mysterious reason are allowed past the New Nazis massive shadow banning and censoring on Google/CZcams and Fakebook.
And lastly; What the fuck does Fakebook have to do with anything? Have you even READ James Clavell?
Cool beans
this guy look like the actor from "HERO" , the guy that hiro trap him into casket wasn't it?
Is it that historic palace of death tower where Bruce Lee's Game of death movie was filmed??
LOLOLOL
Mongol: and i took that personally
Mongol? It’s been a while… did I say something about that in this video?
@@DiscoveryMakesKnowledge no it just reference from Ghost of Tsushima
They need to rebuild the palace.
You dont rebuild a 400 year old castle.. you keep it as original as possible
I find this place by random google map.
...how 'bout that band?!?!
ikr lmao
I forgot the name of one of the castle name with a history of sacrificing people to build it
That’s a pyramid mate LOL
where castle dungeons???
I dont see how a wooden castle was efective even back then when it was built... so easy to set on fire and burn everything
Way too many cuts on this video. I’m getting dizzy lol
Informative but calls it "Matsumodo", 4.5 stars.
Yes, I’m definitely too American
That's like expecting an American to pronounce Mexico as Me-hee-co. It's just too egregious. Let the man pronounce it the way he's used to. (no hate, btw. just sayin)
You went for a circumcision and the dr said I can’t operate there’s no end to this 🌵
Every British tv show in the 2000s
Talking pish again
Please, pronounce the T properly. It sounds awful when you say "Matsumoro" with a rolling R.
Since this wasn’t for Japanese audiences, I slipped into my American accent. We pronounce “t” in words like Toyota, Toto (the dog from Wizard of Oz), and auto like “Toyoda,” “Todo,” and “audo.” Thanks for putting up with it!
What are you? A linguistics professor??? Until YOU make a vid of this castle wind your neck in and let the man speak aye?
