I've had a son for six years. It still hits me like a truck every time that little boy says he loves me. He's a bit more sensitive than I am, and a lot more hot blooded than his mama. He's the best parts of both of us, and I still can't believe I'm lucky enough to be a dad.
You know, I never really realized how gratifying it must be for a mother to finally be able to speak with the person she's been loving and patient with for so many years.
Love how games are now seen as helpful when appropriate with age groups and seen as ways to communicate with nonverbal children rather than seen as always evil.
That's because parents of the 80s and 90s didn't grow up with games so didn't understand them so thought they were a waste of time or destroying their kids minds. Parents nowadays don't feel that way since they know all about gaming from when they were kids and actually use that as a way to bond with their own kids. It's cool to see the drastic change overtime. I wonder what else we hate now that eventually kids who become parents will use as a positive way to bond with their kids? Skibidi toilet? No fuck no.

@RuLo0803 yes!! I'm 26 but I love rewatching shows I grew up with just to see with a fresh pair of eyes how actually wholesome, helpful, and emotionally intense they were. I give massive credit to shows like these as to how I handled my own trauma growing up, realizing what I went through was not "normal", and probably why I'm not in jail, in all seriousness 😂 that sounds intense, but watching other kids go through the same thing as me and seeing how they handled it all genuinely really helped me, it still helps me to this day! That's so wholesome. My autistic son has an aac tablet, this was a game changer. He's 4, his speech is delayed and we thought his mentality too, but it turned out he needed a bit of a kick with communication and a shift in us - we don't need him to talk, we need him to comunicate. That's all.

It's 2024, which means that the most well-known voxel game (MC) isn't really a "kids these days" thing. You're talking about mid 20-30 year olds. A lot of people who played MC were young (especially when it was popularized for teaching kids to program), but a large portion of the modders/developers and players were in college, and many developers who played were in their 60s. Anyway I always think its sad when people think games are just a "kids these days" thing. The people writing the games are usually older people who enjoy games. It's weird to infantilize them just because the game isn't violent or full of X rated content. As Minecraft says - "Minecraft is for everyone."

This reminds me of how I connected with my youngest child through Minecraft and CZcams videos. She's autistic and found communicating difficult but we spent time playing and watching together and that's how she communicated her interests and some of her needs. She's 15 now and we still play and watch together. We still find it helpful, but mostly it's just for fun. I fully endorse gaming as a way of connecting with kids, neurodivergent or not.
