    Great tutorial bud!! Very easy.
BTW, just a comment/heads up: you hide the filenames, but when you clicked on them, it showed the filenames on the status bar, which was not blurred.

Does this leave any files on the hard drive you're accessing? Like where you put the points for Dislocker or Linux to reference. IF so, where would I find them to delete them?

Hi Mate, you video really helped to access the data but is there anyway to remove the bitlocker encryption using Linux? My surface pro does not boot up and i can not format the hard disk by any means.

My laptop (dell inspiron 7391) has now BSOD loop...
no back up or recovery point. safe mode and "Win Blue Screen repair tools" are not fixing anything and the come up with somthing about:
    D:
    ecovery\windowsre\Winre.wim\SYStem32\logfiles\srt\srttrail.txt
It happened while i was trying to disable Intel optane feature , which is built in to my intel ssd... i did this so i cant switch it back to PERFORMANCE mode because of a notification i received from the optane GUI tool notifying me of it...
laptop was charged & connected to power during the processes so i believe its a bug...Nor intel or Dell could troubleshoot or assist
    key facts:
*I have bit locker is enabled and i only have the recovery key...
*once ive connected the corrupt ssd to a different machine i got a prompt to format the drive....
*Windows wont recognize it as bitlocked and the Intel GUI tool wont recognize it as an intel ssd so i cant take any actions,
*Ive tried the "repair-bde -force" command line tool and most of the times it would just tell me that the drive im using to output the data to - is in use (but it was formatted and now just connected so wtf?!)
after trying to run this command for dozens of times i was able twice to get passed it and this what came up:
"Error :the input volume has suffered damages to critical information related to the decryption key. please try the -keypackge to specify a key package. the volume may not be recoverable.
from my understanding - keypackge exits only if my machine is part of a domain environment and manged by AS DS.
whats next? is any data recoverable ? should i use other methods of recovery like photorec ?

Hi, how can we use it in a situation that we do not have the bitlocker key with us. My pc is boot failing and when it goes to reset the device, it ask for bitlocker key. This is the office pc and someone who used before would have activated this.. what would be the solution for me? It ask for recovery key to proceed. It is a SSD hard drive and it I can recover data which is in D: drive would be enough

Hi Gayan, sadly due to encryption there's not much chance of getting anything back - The method I showed used the drive / partition recovery key - The other method is the user method - But for this - You need to know the account it was using - Perhaps BitLocker has been switched on through the user of using a Microsoft Account - Could if you have access to a Microsoft Account - The key may be within Microsoft.com - blog.elcomsoft.com/2016/03/breaking-into-microsoft-account-its-no-google-but-getting-close/

I got it. i did not name filesystem extension. so i corrected it this way
      sudo mount -t ntfs-3g -o loop /media/bitlocker/dislocker-file home/ubuntu/disk/
      works perfectly.

Isn't any one-click solution? Maybe not in ubuntu but in some other forensics-oriented distro like kali or parrot?

Well if I had the damn key I would just input it when it asked for it on the windows device. This tool is useless

The syntax that works for me.
    sudo dislocker -v -V /dev/yourDisk -p(paste OS recovery code) - - /media/bitlocker
(note theres no space between '- -'/media/bitlocker. Only writte spaced it to prevent youtube comment from striking it out.
